DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!! We hired Mata Masonry in April 2019 to replace mortar in our rock retaining wall and replace the cap on top. Daniel was sent out to check out the job. We wanted the cap to be 2 inches thick and squared up just as the original cap was done. I explained to everything that needed to be done, and he said they could do it. Mr. Mata sent us a bid the end of April 2019, and we accepted. The job was started on April 30th. When they started removing and replacing the cap, they were not doing it as we discussed. I talked to Daniel, and he said they could not do it that way because something about the rocks sticking out (which made no sense since that is how the original one was done). Then within 3 weeks the cap started to crack. I sent pictures to Mr. Mata on May 29th showing the cracks. He messaged me back that he was gonna fix it. On June 7th, a 3rd crack and on June 23 a 4th crack. On June 28th, I messaged him that if he was not going to fix it, I needed a partial refund to hire someone else. I did not hear back. On July 9th I was told he was in Mexico. On August 30 I called, and he answered and mumbled something and hung up. I called back and he did not answer. I called Home Advisor and asked them to dial him for me, and he answered. When I started to speak he got very angry and said *I do not care* and hung up. Another problem was that he wanted more money to do the last part of the wall around my pool deck. I refused so they did a sloppy job after that. He also wanted me to pay the balance before he finished the job which I refused. I do not think he would have come back to finish if I had. I also had to pay someone $500 to come and power wash the turn around because they did not clean it up. They said the rain would wash it off. As of today 9/18/2019 I have 7 cracks and am sure there will be more. Home Advisor told me to contact TN Board of Licensing Contractors at the Department of Commerce and Insurance to file a complaint. Work was done promptly and finished on time and within estimate. Employees were polite and kept a neat work area.

I did not obtain any other bids for my job so I'm not totally sure about the pricing and that's the only reason I did not give them a 5.0. They were prompt with their work and are very skilled craftsmen. I am totally satisfied with the work that they did. As I've seen on other reviews, they totally cleaned up and everyone involved was very nice.

The contractor is very quality conscious of their work and they also look around at other brick/stone items to see if there were any problems and they pointed out a few and I had them repair the items. All in all, you won't find a better contractor and crew!!!

He did not do the job that he was hired to do. Higher priced than another quote but he was able to come out sooner than the other quote and we relied on his good rating from Home Advisor. 75% of the masonry repairs he did cracked within 2 months. When we tried to work with him on the damage he was unresponsive and was unwilling to fix his work. Asked for a partial refund and he refused. He was unable to do the work we paid him to do and was unwilling to fix his poor work or issue a partial refund. When we last tried to resolve issues, he literally ran and jumped into his car and then did not respond to our text requests to work things out. FEEL RIPPED OFF BY CONTRACTOR AND HOME ADVISOR - RELIED ON HOME ADVISOR RATINGS WHEN HIRING THE CONTRACTOR AND THEY HAVE BEEN NO HELP IN TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES WITH THE CONTRACTOR!
