M&A is the sole distributor for YORK furnace parts in the southeast region. I have purchased (cash) furnace parts at the city counter previously a year ago. However, they refused to sell a small part to me when I returned this month, citing "Federal Law" as prohibiting sale to me as an individual, and insisted that I obtain the part through a local HVAC contractor who would buy the part from them first and then install it for me. I do not wish to pay a contractor huge fees to do so. My brother is a HVAC contractor in another city, and he confirms that the reference to "Federal Law" is blatantly false. While M&A as the regional distributor may chose to conduct wholesale business only, so that they and their contractor customers can maintain a monopoly on access to York parts in this local area, they appear to be inconsistent in deciding to whom they will sell parts, and should have told me that they are wholesale only, rather than fabricate a false reference to "federal law". I was able to find the genuine York part I need available on the internet from a dozen or more distributors at discount prices with no shipping cost. Although I tried to support M&A as a local business, they refused my business, and lied to me. Of note, when I produced the receipt from my parts purchase from them from a year ago, they copied it, and implied that the employee who had sold me the part would be disciplined. I would NOT recommend this business under any circumstances, not because they may be wholesale only, but because they lied to me.
