Derek is very creative! He came to our house in 2007 to give us ideas about installing a waterfall. I had two other companies come and examine the site, plus JVI. The other two could not work with my site restrictions. Derek saw possibilities where the other two companies saw problems. The initial project was completed on time and within the budget.

During the estimate appointment, Derek's drawing showed that there would be more stones layed down than what was actually layed down. The job took approx. 3 hours with 2 men working and that included them taking up the existing walk way that consisted of approx 20 18x6 concrete slabs. I had assumed that this would be included in the bid but it wasn't. At no extra charge they pulled up the slabs but did not remove them from the yard. Upon returning home from work the day of service I was disappointed in the sparsness of the stones (I was expecting at least a 3' wide walkway but got 1ft to 2 ft wide)as well as a sharp drop off from a large stone at the edge of the porch that posed a risk of inury. I left a message on Derek's voice mail that I was not satisfied. When I didn't hear back from him the next day I called a second time. He was apologetic but simply said that he could make it right for a cost increase. We feel that there was a lack of communication on Derek's part as to exactly what services we would be receiving. He also demonstrated a poor level of professionalism when he didn't return my call within 24 hours of me placing a call to him. Instead of paying the last payment portion to JVI my husband and I completed the walkway to our satisfaction
