It's a large property with a lot of air conditioners. I've used them for years. They're very knowledgeable, they show up when they say they're gonna show up, and they keep good records of what they've done in the past, so that helps. The workers were very good and they cleaned up very well.

Description of Work: I had an air conditioner coil replaced on a 15-year-old Rheem unit. It was a hard-to-find part, and the part that they installed was a different size from the old one, which necessitated making a new housing and ductwork. It was an all-day job. It was expensive and tedious, but I am happy with the result. The technician was knowledgeable and a conscientious and diligent worker.

HIGHLY recommend Interstate. David Kennedy, our salesman and Terry, the installer did EVERYTHING right. We needed a new HVAC and additionally needed to put ductwork into an area of our basement that did not have it. They were punctual, they cleaned up their mess leaving everything better than when they came. Wow! Their bid came in at the best price (out of 4 companies we interviewed) and when we received their bill, it wasn't a cent over the bid. We strongly recommend this company. Thank you Interstate!

I had a lot of problems with bad odors coming out of the heating unit. So they ended up having to reset the entire unit and change the flashing. They are very responsive. I had another issue when it just kept cutting out and won't turn back on. They charged me for a service call to come out and look at it. They didn't fix it the first time, but they kept coming out until it was right and didn't charge anything extra. They are very honest and I will continue to do business with them, because I think they are reputable.
Description of Work: I have used Kimbro Air. A couple of years ago they did somewhat substantial work for me and then I have an ongoing contract on a rental property with them.

Problem: Excessive dust coating the furniture in half the house, it was clearly not normal amounts of dust. Our house was built in 1960, a large addition was added about 20 years ago, also, a new furnace was installed when we bought the house 3 years ago. A Kimbro representive evaluated the system, it was clear to him and to me the entire system needed replaced. He gave me a quote on replacement of all duckwork excepting the duck attached to the furnace. He gave me a price of $5795.00 and 4 days to install it. Action: I gave the job to his compition. His competition did the job in 11 hours for $4159.00, they replaced all duckwork, sealed all registers, balanced the system and ran a leak check on the whole house. they did a great job! I saved $1636.00 buy using Angie's List.

Our job is a difficult one because of the layout of our house, and we are having an entire system replaced due to the 2010 flood. Anthony suggested 2 systems, a traditional one and a mimi split ductless system. While other factors are causing a delay in moving forward, I feel confident that Kimbro Air would do fine work for our situation.
Description of Work: I was very impressed the knowledge and professionalism of the fellow who came to give me an estimate. We have not been able to move forward on our job, but this company is one of the top 2 we are still considering. Anthony was timely in his response with a bid and helpful in giving ideas and in changing the layout of the system to save us some money. The bid was on par with other bids we received. I marked "fair" for price because they are all expensive in my opinion.

Horrible. I was very very dissapointed and mad that Interstate AC lied to me not only before I moved in the house, but afterwards when the technician came out and said I just needed a new coil. I ended up having to buy an entirely new unit, something that I would have negotiated in to the purchase of this home had I known up front that it was NOT working properly. I found Mr. Swaney Powers to be rude, dishonest, and all about money. A reputable company would not have provided a false report to begin with, and then when called on it, they would have made good on it without me having to threaten a lawsuit. Good business practice takes care of the customer, but this was entirely a horrible experience. NEVER would use them again.
Description of Work: This company told me that my AC unit was working properly before I moved in. The inspection report questioned the age and performance of the unit, and Interstate AC came out to "service" it as negotiated between myself and the seller. As a first time homebuyer, I trusted that the AC would be working properly as their report said. Soon after moving in to the house, the AC was blowing warm air. After several heated phone conversations with Swaney Powers, threatening my attorney get involved, he had one of his guys come out and determined the coil needed replacing. They replaced the coil at no cost, with the agreement (I had to sign it) that I would not come back to them regarding this issue again. A few weeks passed, and again, the AC quit working. This time I called a trusted company who was referred to me, and he came out, only to determine that 1. Interstate had put the WRONG SIZE COIL in, and 2. I needed an entirely new unit.

A relationship that started well deteriorated with each service they performed. I have described in detail the services performed and will summarize the experience. My relationship with them started in 2007 with the installation of the unit described immediately below. Reduced their quote to be competitive on the installation of a new large HVAC unit. Improperly installed existing humidifier (which they disconnected when disassembling old unit). Flooded that evening and technician came out to make repair. Sent me a bill for $450 for technician's repair work. Voided bill after a nasty letter from me. Told me it would cost $525 to replace a board on a unit. I obtained the price of the board from another hvac repair operation. The board cost less than $140. When I told them I was going to have replacement done by someone else they dropped their price to $250. Improperly repaired unit. Replace board two additional times before recognizing that they never installed a flame sensor required by the board. In other words 4 trips to finally get work done properly. Billing is described below. Did not connect wires on another unit and heat would not come on. Wires connected and unit worked. New compressor installed under warranty. For these items they billed me $1264 including charges for parts not furnished and work not performed. After 2 months they responded to my letter and $800 was deleted from the bill. New compressor caused lights to blink and was "shortcycling." They released some gas to the atmosphere and temporarily stopped the shortcycling. When shortcycling and light blinking continued another trip from another technician of theirs deterrmined that a valve was bad and for $804 (79 + 725) they would replace valve (under warranty). Another HVAC company replaced valve for less. Replacement took about 1hr 20 min.
Description of Work: They repaired and checked 2 units at my home in May after the terrible rain which flooded a large part of Nashville. They were paid $158, 368 & 346 for their work on these 2 units. When we tried to fire these two units for cool weather they would not fire up. It appeared that they forgot to connect a connector on one unit and when they replaced a board in the 2nd unit they did not put in a flame sensor required by the board they installed. They sent me a bill for $1264 for this work and replacing a compressor on the second unit. All parts (except the initial board) were under warranty. The compressor replacement included charges for a part not furnished and work not performed. When I sent them a letter asking them to explain they did not respond and resent a bill for the same amount a month later. Eventually, after a phone conversation, they deleted the charges for the parts not furnished and the work either not or improperly performed. November 2010 was cool and the a/c was not really used. In spring 2011 when the a/c was turned on the unit "shortcycled" and the lights in the house blinked badly. Their technician determined that the unit had been overcharged and released some gas to the atmosphere. It started shortcycling again and causing lights to blink. another technician of theirs determined that a valve under warranty was bad and for $804 ($79 trip charge and $725 labor) they would repair it. I declined, had another company repair it for less and, lo and behold, the lights in the house no longer blink. This was an item which should have been discovered when the compressor went bad. (The valve used on this unit had a history of malfunction due to a bad batch the manufacturer used.) Repair took about 1hr 20 minutes. They also installed the unit on which the compressor was replaced. They did not properly connect the humidifier which I discovered when it flooded the night after finished installation. They came out and properly connected the humidifier to the unit and sent a bill for $450 for correcting their improperly performed work. This bill was voided after a very nasty letter from me.

Service man arrived when he said he would. Once we decided on a new furnace it was late afternoon, so they said they would be there to install the unit at 8am the next day. They arrived a few minutes early! The installation was completed that day without incident. Everyone was friendly and professional. They cleared away any & all debris & the old furnace parts. Even painted the old gas pipes to make it look more attractive. We are very pleased w/the unit so far. It has only been about 3wks. Normally we would get at least 3 estimates for something like this, but do to the extremely cold weather & the fact that we felt confident with this company we went ahead with them.
Description of Work: First of all, the Kimbro Air we used was at 134 Volunteer Dr, Hendersonville, Tn. 615-824-8098. During one of the coldest nights we've had, our furnace quit working. We just bought this house in April 2008. The heating & air unit looked quite "worn out". We selected Kimbro Air to call after looking in the yellow pages & references a couple companies in Angie's List. Kimbro came out at the time agreed upon. The unit would need about $2000 in repairs. We chose to discuss getting a new unit. The salesman came out within an hour, showed us our options. We chose to purchase an American Standard hybrid heating & cooling unit that was the most efficient, thus the price was high.

Aside from completely insulting me, James had nothing to even base a quote on. The other three companies that were here inspected my unit, checked my duct work, checked my filter & thermostat, and looked at my attic space. Not one of them asked about my husband. James only wanted to talk to my husband and answer his cell phone. Admittedly, I felt uncomfortable calling them to begin with, since they go by three different names: Cumberland Comfort Air, Interstate Air, and Kimbro Air. The only reason they made the list at all is because they were on Angie's List and they had been out here before. And believe me, they will never, ever be again. My husband called to complain, the girl who took the "message" had a technician call me back after hours wanting to know what the emergency was. Then somebody called and woke me up the next morning wanting to know the same thing. I finally told them (and I did NOT call them, they called me) what happened and what I thought of them.
Description of Work: I called Kimbro Air to come out and quote me the price for a new unit. I'm not sure what he based his quote on, he was probably here for 5 minutes at the most. After their salesman, James, walked outside, glanced at my unit, the only thing he said to me was, "When is your husband going to be home". Now, I'm no professional in the HVAC business, but I wasn't sure how that could possibly affect him quoting me a price. He then walked back into the house, and I asked him if he was going to look at my duct work. He then said he KNEW what my problem was, I needed separate units because heat rises, and that would cost 10-15 thousand dollars, but he thought I probably wouldn't want to do that. By this point his cell phone was ringing and he was in a hurry to get out the door and answer that, on his way out, he told me my husband could call him if he had any technical questions.

This is a great heating and air conditioning company to use. The last time they were out was during the winter and we had an emergency, as the entire system was out. They came within two hours, replaced the fan, and we were back up and running, no questions asked. Because of our contract, we only paid for the part and we thought the service was provided in a very timely manner. I recommend them highly.
Description of Work: They service our stand alone heating and air conditioner, which covers about 7 rooms in total. They have us on a yearly service contract for one hundred and twenty dollars. This time around they replaced a fan motor in our system, taking about an hour to do so. They took the old motor away with them when they left and all I had to pay for was the part.

Repairman arrived with a chip on his shoulder and attitude, possible due to having to work on Sunday. He was on my property for less than 10 minutes total and charged $150. I refused to pay not, because he was over charging for this visit, but based on the same company's last visit. They came 5 months before for a another electrical problem, but worked for over an hour. They charged $69. This time, they said the charge was $30 more because it was Sunday and $52 extra for a ''minor repair.'' To make a long story short, when we called the company, the repair man's boss could not justify the $150 charge based on the last visit and the current up charges. They said ''we use industry standards'' and could not justify or even tell me what their cost basis was. I had to call 3 times before the company would even call back to schedule the repair, but wanted to use them as I had used them before. If people continue to pay these inflated charges, the problem will perpetuate and get worse.
Description of Work: Cleaned a small electrical connector in the compressor. A bug had crawled into the connector, according to the repairman, causing it not to conduct. It had to be cleaned which took about 3 minutes. Total work time on site was less than 8 minutes.

Interstate's salesman had a lot of technical knowledge, which I didn't find with other companies that I spoke with. Other companies just wanted to sell us a new big system, and didn't have knowledge or concern in our comforts in better balancing our system.
