We had an unfortunate accident where a stolen car ran into the corner of our house and basically shifted the sunroom. This meant some masonry work and some general contracting work that included framing, painting, and drywall. We went with John because his estimate came in at a good price and he seemingly was a stand up guy. From the beginning it seemed to be going ok, but then there started to be delays, upon delays, with no communication on his end. Then when he quoted us for re-painting the sun room he then complained to my wife (while he was doing it) that he hates painting and if he knew it was a new color he would have charged more. Well, unfortunately we told him at the beginning we would PICK OUT THE COLORS. Which means repainting. I guess i didn't exactly say it but anyone with 2¢ about them could know that me picking out the paint means me repainting the room. Then there were major discrepancies in the cost. Which i called him out on and he had no excuse for. The job took 3 months and to the date of this is still not complete. With is incessant complaining about painting i told him that i would get someone to finish up the paint job if he would finish up the rest. He didn't hang the gutters or the lights. If you want someone that will do a job slowly and half assed ask for this guy.
Description of Work: Masonry work, Painting (sorta), Drywall, and some general contracting work (windows, framing, etc).
The quality of the work is excellent. They take pride in what they do and deliver a high quality finish. There was a disconnect regarding the cost, fluctuating between a turn key contract and cost plus arrangement. Whichever concept would benefit them the most financially, they would switch to that concept. The project was delayed because of plumbing issues as well as a vacationing electrician. I completed several aspects of the job in order to reduce overall costs, although this was not encouraged as it reduced their fees. After submitting their final job invoice, they returned several days later with an additional bill of over $2100.
Description of Work: Brooks, John, and various subs they hired finished a bonus room. They insulated, dry walled, put in central heat and air, electricity, plumbing, repaired drywall caused by problems related to their plumbing instillation, finished the stairs, installed handrails, and did trim work.
