I was stunned to see HH Gregg on this list for appliance repair. I bought one of their extended warranties on a refrigerator--BUYER BEWARE!! I did some research on the internet after my refrigerator started to make a noise that was too loud to tolerate, so I had to shut it off/unplug it and move what I could to a small under-counter type refrigerator. From what I read, there was a common cause for that type of sound, and it could be repaired. I called the warranty service. You'd think that HH Gregg appliance service would do the repair for the warranty that they sell in their stores, but apparently not. The warranty service contacted another provider on this list, and I got a call from them telling me that they'd send someone out, but later I got a call from the repairman, who asked me a few questions about the noise, when it occurred, how loud, etc., and he told me he thought he knew what was wrong and would order the parts, then give me a call to schedule the repair when the parts came in. That sounded reasonable, but when I hadn't heard anything for a week I gave them a call--only to find out that they had contacted the warranty company with the estimate, and the warranty company told them not to repair my refrigerator, because they were going to replace it. Sounds okay, doesn't it? BUT THEN I contacted the warranty company, because no one had said a word to me about replacing my refrigerator and deciding not to repair it--and I was told that there was a process, and it wasn't as simple as just replacing my refrigerator. The young woman I talked with, who could use some coaching on customer service skills, indicated that they had 3 options--but that determination had to be made after a and quot;bidand quot; was received from HH Gregg. She said that they had contacted HH Gregg, and HH Gregg had 5 business days to get back to them with the and quot;bid.and quot; (The options were replace it, and quot;cash out,and quot; or give me a store credit to buy a new refrigerator from HH Gregg.) Then I called HH Gregg customer service, and was told that they had already sent the and quot;bidand quot; back to the warranty service (which is quite different from the story the warranty service told me). I asked to speak to the lady handling my claim, and I was told that she was on the phone with another customer. I left a voicemail and asked her to call me back. I never got a call. I called the next day, and was told that she had not yet returned from lunch--but the young woman who supposedly checked to see if she was in somehow used her ESP (because I hadn't done anything but ask for the out-to-lunch woman by name) to determine that HH Gregg couldn't do anything because they were waiting for something from the warranty company. THEN I called the local store, and rather than try to get their appliance repair service to take a look at my refrigerator (which has yet to be inspected by anyone directly or indirectly involved with HH Gregg), they told me that they'd check on it--then called back shortly thereafter to tell me that they were all waiting on--wait for it--THE REPAIR COMPANY. Yes, the same repair company that told me that the company handling HH Gregg's extended warranty was going to replace the refrigerator. So it had come full-circle, and if that isn't the definition of a and quot;run-around,and quot; I don't know what is. In the past couple of years, I have bought several large and small appliances for my home and my mother's home from HH Gregg. I will never, ever shop in their store again. If they have an appliance repair service and they're going to sell extended warranties, you would think that they'd have their appliance repair service handle their warranty repairs. .
Description of Work: Actually, none were performed--and that is the problem. I bought an extended warranty, and they won't even come to look at my refrigerator. I am 2 years into a 5-year warranty.

After finding my research on the computer for finding the best deal, they gave me the best deal. They even came out to service the machine a few months ago. They were prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable and they taught me how to use the machine more effectively. They were in and out and there was no charge. They didn't charge me for the service as it was under warranty.
Description of Work: I buy appliances from HH Gregg. The last time I brought washing machine and a dryer about a year and half ago from them.

The company uses and quot;teasersand quot; in their ads. When you go in to buy the actual product-THEY JUST SOLD OUT! Emails to their corporate custer service were treated with as little response as they can give. They are not interested in they customer!! I was told to come when the store opened the next morining to get the computer I wanted and had seen in their ad. I knew they only had one in stock. I was tahere 10 minutes early. the door was locked and no one would come to the door even though the sales person had told me the night before they were opening at 8 AM. They told me when I called them at 10:03 AM(10 AM being their normal opening time) that corporate had sent them an email and told them to open at 9 AM. Guess what? I had been calling since 9 AM and the phones were not answering and you got a message telling you to call back when they opened at 10. I had gotten permission from my boss to go at 8, but when no one was opening the door, I couldn't stay longer than 8:30( which I did). GUESS WHAT? WHEN I FINALLY REACHED THEM--THE COMPUTER I WANTED WAS ALREADY SOLD!! ARE WE SURPRISED?? Then I was told I could get a model I didn't want for the same price!! IF YOU WANT A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T LIKE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!! I SENT COPIES OF MY EMAILS TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE WITH A LETTER--NO RESPONSE!! THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE CUSTOMER!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Overall, this was a terrible experience, though it did not start that way. My fiancé and I just bought a house that had all of the appliances, except for a refrigerator. So, we were on a hunt for a Jenn-Air refrigerator to match the rest of our appliances. We spent an entire day going from store to store comparing prices. We went to HHGregg in the middle of our day and were impressed with how helpful they were. We met a very nice sales associate who assured us he would give us the best price possible, as platitium customer service and satisfaction is what their company prides itself on. We told him that we had a couple more stops to make, but that we would keep his store in mind. He told us that if we found a better price to bring it back to him. We continued to shop, and did indeed find a better price. We snapped a picture of the sticker on the frig, and later went back to him with it. He, in turn, not only matched the better price, but beat it. When we mentioned that we would probably wait another day or so before ordering so that we could go back to the house and remeasure, the associate reassured us that if there were any problems, that we could exchange the fridge for the right size. We were very pleased, and ended up purchasing the refrigerator from him. We were told that he did not have the refrigerator in the store, and that he would have to order it, which could take up to 6 weeks, but would realistically be about 3 weeks. This was perfect for us, as we were not moving into the house for 3 more weeks. Though with the service plan we purchased, taxes, etc. the final purchase price was a little more than we anticipated, we left the store very pleased with our purchase and with the experience as a whole. The refrigerator actually came in a week earlier than anticipated, and unfortunately, when it was delivered we discovered that it was not the right size. We immediately called the sales associate that had been so helpful with our purchase and asked if we should take it back and purchase the correct size. He said that it shouldn’t be a problem and he actually had the correct sized frig in his store, and that it could be delivered within the next couple of days. He said that before we made the switch, however he needed to get manager approval, as the other model was actually a little less money than the one that we purchased. We were transferred to the manager of the store who informed us that he had to get approval from his boss. A couple of phone calls later, and we were informed that we had apparently purchased the refrigerator as a “customer order”, which is nonrefundable. Discovering this purchase was a “customer order” came as a surprise to both my fiancé and I, as we were never informed of this while making the purchase. On November 11, 2008, we purchased our first new refrigerator in 15 years from H. H. Greg in Franklin, TN. We had many questions and the salesperson, Tony Neely, was very patient, spending a full two hours with us. Prices are always good at H. H. Greg, but Mr. Neely was able to give us an even better price than the one posted. As we were checking out, he told us that he could assure delivery within two days and described the process to be followed. Sure enough, two days later, on November 13, we received an early morning call informing us that the appliance would be delivered between 10:15 and 1:15. The two young delivery men showed up at 10:15 on the dot and within an hour had made the installation, which included moving one old refrigerator downstairs to replace our older refrigerator and hauling off the older one. I should add that the delivery men left me a number to call to confirm delivery and activate our warranty and to evaluate the service. Most of the evaluation was automated, but in the voice commentary I pointed out that this was the first time in my life that I remember a delivery team showing up at the exact time promised. I regret that I did not get the names of the delivery men; I know only that they were Hispanic, had very good English and were very professional.

They were very efficient and pleasant to have around. They cleaned up the mess and were careful of the walls and doors while unloading. They will match any lower price and they had the right size to fit in the built-in area.
