BEWARE! Benjamin Hammond never told us his license was limited to work under $25,0000, including material costs. Our addition was built with a "remodeling" permit of $25K, unknown to us, though it cost more than 3x that amount. Benjamin assured us he was bonded and licensed, but he let insurance lapse (or never had it) during the project. Vandalism by one of his subs was not covered and had to be reported to our homeowner's carrier. The floor finisher came in with a circular saw, cutting up the floors from one end of the house to the other. There was a pay dispute, apparently, and the guy got his revenge. Benjamin apparently had issues with other payroll matters and sometimes asked for an advance to pay his workers. Here's the worst part. We gave Benjamin a check for about $3600 for the electrical work per invoice he presented, but he did not pay the company. We had to pay the electricians AGAIN at the end of our project to avoid a lien being put on the house. No wonder they didn't come to finish up the wiring, and Benjamin said he had to get another company as he said the first one was "unreliable." When confronted about the lien, Benjamin admitted he diverted our money for his own use and hadn't paid the electricians a dime of it. He didn't bother to tell us but made us find out the hard way. He repaid almost half of what he "diverted" but hasn't come through with the rest,; that's more than $1,000 that he still owes us, big money around our house... The work his crew did was beautiful, and we're pleased with the final outcome, mostly due to the work of his master carpenter. Benajmin was working on two or three jobs at the same time, though this was a full-time project, so it was hard to get everything finished on time. Benjamin's website advertises himself as "honest." Honest? I don't think so!
Description of Work: Benjamin Hammond added an entire addition to a house we were renovating. We found out later he does not have a contractor's license, only a remodeling license; that means he is restricted to jobs of $25,000 or less, including materials. Our $80,000 job was three times the limit he is allowed to do, yet he pulled permits showing the $25K he is licensed for.

He was excellent and did everything as promised. He was always on time. His prices were very reasonable as well.
Description of Work: We used him for removing a wall in our newly purchased house. He also did the painting and drywall as well as recess lighting for us.
