Fox Moving and Storage

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Showed up 5 hours late. The crew smelled like weed. It took them 6.5 hours to load what should have taken a maximum of 4 hours, and that was with me and my husband assisting and carrying out furniture to speed it along. They ended up not completing the move, they ran out of room on the truck and left our belongings on the lawn and sidewalk. WE had to find a way to move the rest on our own that night since their dispatch team refused to help find a solution. The crew hid a 10' rug behind the neighbor's bushes and never told us they didn't get it onto the truck. We ended up having to pay for a storage unit and later rent a truck and drive back to Knoxville from Nashville to retrieve the belongings Fox never moved. We ended working until midnight to get completely out of our home and it almost cost us the closing of our home since the buyer couldn't complete the scheduled walkthrough. This delayed delivery of our belongings and when the crew showed up they again smelled like weed, one was wearing flip flops. Of course we have damaged items, and the total cost exceeded the original quote by $2k and change.

I hate to come out blasting. Especially when a few people involved in the move were innocent. My son/daughter in law moved from Maryville to Spring Hill (3 hrs apart). The crew that came to pack the truck, were 5.5 hrs late. I understand getting behind. The crew called and said they would arrive in 2 hrs. It was 5.5 hrs. The crew pressured my son 3 times about how he needed to tip them. When he did tip them, they complained about the amount to his face. Their stuff was stored until the closing of their new house (2 weeks). The crew that delivered their property was 3 hrs late because they didn’t have a truck to load the belongings (2 hrs late). That crew was friendly. Both couches were filthy streaked with black marks. King size mattress was in a worse condition. They dropped the 130 yr old piano. Had SEVERAL objects on the truck that didn’t belong to my kids. It was an absolute nightmare from beginning to end. They tried to charge for the moving service again. This is after it had been paid in full before they loaded the first item! I can’t begin to fathom how they store peoples belongings. They just bring a big truck full of things and ask what is yours? I would not recommend this company to anyone. Again, I hate to be so harsh. But, this company added a mountain of stress and difficulty to what should have been an easy move.

Horribly! Virtually every piece of our furniture was gouged, nicked or scratched. They miscalculated the size truck needed and had the audacity to try to charge us more to have all possessions delivered and stored. Their insurance form for submission of claims is designed to discourage you from submitting. I was devastated when they unloaded all my damaged furniture.

Darrell and his crew did a fantastic job on my move we moved items from Fox storage, another home into my new home they were efficient friendly professional wrapped all of my furniture we're very careful and moving in and out the doorways and down the halls with some extremely heavy furniture. Everything arrived intact still the same as when we started. I would recommend Darrell for any of my future moves can to all my friends and family.

I had over a dozen items broken or damaged when my goods and furniture were delivered to my new address in Texas. I was told by Dmitri, who was in charge of loading in Nashville that they would pack an expensive glass dolphin figurine on a wooden base. When it arrived it was inside a cardboard box with only newspaper to protect it. It was broken beyond repair. Several glass framed pictures were not marked "glass" or "fragile'. handles on my dresser drawers and night stands were smashed, bent, or broken. It was mostly due to careless handling. I paid for insurance coverage through Fox for my items and filed a claim for damages. It has been 60 days and I have not been paid from their insurance company or received an update on the status of my claim. These people might be OK to use on a local move, but I would not trust them to pack and store anything of value

The move out of the house seemed fine a year ago. They said our stuff would be stored in conditioned space for a year, but given the looks of the stuff (water damage, clear temperature changes) we paid for space we did not receive. Some of the larger pieces of furniture were damaged, although those moving into the house suggested it was those who moved us out a year ago. Boxes clearly labelled fragile and this side up were placed upside down and dropped. The movers urged us to forgo checking off each numbered item, given that they had only the morning to move us in and another job in the afternoon. As such, we know that we are missing a number of boxes of our things but do not have the numbers to show it. We were not contacted days before to put in for move in insurance. We have filed a claim but have heard nothing as of today. Finally, the vacuum cleaner that was returned (as opposed to the one lost) was missing most of its attachments. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

They were late one day to the appointment window. They called the next day to let me know they're about to come, even if I made no appointment with them.

I could write a book, but let's just cut to the chase. My furniture, walls, and wood trim were badly damaged due to rough treatment and not taking time to be careful. Wood furniture was scratched, hunks of wood knocked off, metal cabinet pulls broken off, etc. The walls were hit with corners leaving gashes in the drywall. The trim around doorways was knocked off in some areas. Boxes marked "Very Fragile" had multiple items broken. The actual boxes were torn apart and had holes knocked in them. I can't imagine how they were treated. They was even damage to our fire safe. There were what looked like drill holes in the back of it - hmmm - how did that happen??? Our wooden mirror matching our dining room furniture wasn't even delivered from storage. After I discovered it missing, it took several days for them to even admit to me that it was so badly damaged, they didn't even bother to deliver it. They agreed to repair it, and I received it several weeks after the move. I asked for a personal meeting between the owner/manager and the original salesperson who booked our move to discuss the damage. I was ignored (and told the salesman no longer worked for them). The office manager(s) that handled my case were pleasant and seemed to want to help, but they clearly had no authority. I provided them with a detailed inventory of all the broken items with an estimate of cost to replace - if it was replaceable. Several items were antique and/or family heirlooms and were irreplaceable. They sent a furniture restoration person to look over the damaged furniture and give them an estimate of repair. Between my estimate of broken items (several hundreds of dollars) and the furniture repair person's estimate (approximately $1,500.00), the total cost of my claim was approximately $2,500.00. I received an offer of $1,000 and was told that since I was unwilling to pay for additional insurance before the move, I was not eligible for anything additional. Why didn't I pay for the additional insurance? Because according to their salesman and their advertisements, "Fox?s professional Nashville TN movers are trained to treat your belongings like their own!" (source: Foxmoving.net) I knew there was a possibility of some broken items - that's just what happens in moves. What I wasn't aware of was their TOTAL DISREGARD AND DISRESPECT OF ME AND MY BELONGINGS! Not only were items damaged, but I personally was damaged. They clearly don't believe me worthy of kind and professional treatment. Phone calls, emails, and pleas for help were often ignored. I was told the damage to my walls would be repaired by the moving team captain. However, repeated messages to his direct cell phone were ignored. So the big question - Why did I not check their reputation prior to hiring them????? I saw a friend (that I respected) had used them and didn't do my homework. Had I but just looked at the BBB, I would have seen multiple bad reviews. So, I take the blame - I should have investigated further. But please - learn from my mistakes.

The quote they gave me over the phone was roughly $400.00 but they charged me way more. They only sent 3 guys instead of 4 like they said and they didn't even bring a dolly.

Workers showed up on time and were polite. I was quoted $84 dollars per hour when I called for a quote, when they called to confirm my move and by the movers when they showed up. At the end of the 8 hour day they told me they also would charge me 4 hours of time to load my sfuff from the truck to the sotrage. not only that, i would have to pay an overtime rate for this piece. I am a single person in a 1400 square foot house, no appliances moved, it still took 8 hours. At none of the 3 times we had previously discussed cost had they mentioned this, its a deliberate business practice in my opinion. They had 3 opportunities to make total cost clear and deliberately neglected to. I called and voiced my concerns to someone who was very friendly, but just told me it was on the contract i signed. And it was, they just neglected to highlight it for me like they did several other pieces they were going over with me. I havent had my stuff moved back into my place yet, but i already will not ever use this company and have 2 friends moving that have now cancelled their plans with Fox.

August 31, 2013 I'm not able to physically move things, as I once did, so I paid the highest quote I got, because the Rep for Fox, assured me that things would be taken down, and re-assembled the same way, at the new address. It was a higher standard, and I needed that, so I paid the high price. I thought I was hiring the pros. What I got was the worst amateur moving job I have ever seen, and I am left to sort out all of my belongings. Boxes were labeled as to what area to take them, and the largest portion ignored those directions. Parts of items were separated, so re-assembling them,for instance, requires me to find one part in a bedroom, and the rest in the garage. Items were broken, as the crew had no idea how professional packing and stacking works. If you are tempted to hire fox, I would suggest that you instead, go to one of the corners where laborers are looking for day work, and hire them. The Fox guys have no more experience, and no training in the moving business. The guys who picked up, packed poorly, but did seem like they had done this before. The delivery guys, however, were a totally new crew, who had no idea how things came apart, so they didn't even attempt putting things back together. They didn't know what they had in their load, and althought they were nice guys, they really didn't care. They claimed to work for Fox full time, but no one with over 3 days experience could have been this bad. One spent time pitching his other services to me. The load looked liked it had been ejected from a dump truck. Hire laborers at $7 an hour. I'm sure that's what Fox did, and charged me thousands for booking them. It will cost an equal amount to replace the broken stuff. I think some is also missing. but it will take weeks to sort this out to even know, if items are missing, or just hidden in the pile they left. This job was so bad that I have been anxious to write this review, and warn others. It took a while because my stuff is in such shambles that it has been a full time job to sort out this move, and there is still plenty of work to do, that I paid for, and now am having to do myself.

They did a great job. We weren't able to start until afternoon because of work but they gave us a window of time and they showed up well within that time frame. We had already boxed a lot of things on our own but they moved all the boxes and furniture for us. They were very courteous and didn't talk much unless they had specific questions on placement of things. I was really impressed with how quickly they got everything loaded up, since it took me forever to get everything packed. All in all, they did a great job and I'll be using them if we ever move again.

They were great from beginning to end. They just did their job and you can't say that about a lot of movers. I don't have any comment, I think they just did their job.

I rented a storage unit from a different company. It took 3 men and a truck 9 hours to move my belongings to a storage unit and it was less than 12 miles away. The reason it took so long is because they were charging by the hour. I had a storage unit equivalent to a 3 bedroom home and they barely fit my items in it. They showed up on time, but after that it was a nightmare. They were not professional at all. They damaged some of my furniture during the move. Before using this company, make sure you read the fine print in the contract.

The only thing they did right was they were on time (close, anyway). This company moved me 3 years ago and I was happy with the service then. This time, it took them over twice as long to do the same move. The two men they sent out were very slow. They even took a lunch break and billed me for that. When we finally got to the new house, they sent a 3rd guy to help (because I complained about how slow they were). They assured me they would hook up my washer and dryer when I made the appointment. I'm a single woman and have no idea what needs to be done there. They hooked up the washer but I discovered the first time I went to use the dryer they didn't vent or hook it up. Also, when they left, they hit a tree and broke off a big branch. They never said a word about it and left it in my way. Will never use these people again.

Everything went very well. They moved my entire house and stored it for over a month, but everything went very smoothly. Their rates were very reasonable and they were very careful with my items.

I will admit that the desk was the install your own desks from Staples and they moved it and it was broken by the time it reached my house. I could not use it so I went out and bought the exact same desk and they agreed to pay for it. The problem is that their claims department does re-imbursements by multiplying the weight of the desk by 60 cents so I only ended up getting one quarter of what the desk cost me. It has been 6 months now and I still have not even gotten a re-imbursement check.

It was the worst moving experience I have ever had. No one there will take my calls since move....

The overall was service was not good. I'm glad its over and nothing was broken.
