Empire came out on 10/18/24 to give me a quote to replace the ceramic tile in my master bath. The salesman's name was Mason. While he was there, he quoted $2,700 but applied a 5% discount because I'm a veteran. Today is 10/31/24 and I have yet to have the quote emailed to me. I tried calling Mason several times but he never answered the call. I texted Mason several times and he still hasn't emailed me the quote. I'd been on the phone several times with their corporate customer service and they said they submitted a ticket to the local store asking them to call me. They also told me after dialing the national phone number, and you selected option 0, the phone would be routed to the local store. I tried this several times and never could anyone to answer the phone. So here it is 10/31/24 and still no quote. I give up!
Description of Work: I need he ceramic tile removed and replaced in my master bath.

They refused to move the furniture for me. The laminate flooring in the sunroom buckled three times. They put white caulking under a brown quarter round and it oozed out. I had them come back out a total of 5 times and they had to get different installers. I would not hire them again.

It didn't go at all. I couldn't contact them via the number given here because it would say...leave message after the beep....but there was never a beep. So I called them at a number I found online and no one had any info about the project I described here on Angie's list. It was only after I vented my frustration with all the time I wasted with them that somehow they found my information and decided to call me to do my project. Really? Do they think I would hire them after all of this?

This is the worst company with whom I have ever attempted to do business. No one showed up for the scheduled in home estimate. I called 20 minutes before the end of scheduled time at which time the woman with whom I spoke informed me, after an unsuccessful attempt contacting the representative, "he still has 20 minutes, ma'am." At 5 minutes after the scheduled time ended, I called again, and got disconnected. I waited thinking they would call me back. They did not. I called again at which time I got disconnected yet again. Shockingly no one called me back. The third time I called, the woman said, "I'm sorry ma'am. I can offer you $50 off your purchase." As tempting as THAT sounded...I would never enter into a contract with these clowns!

They spit the work up but unfortunately we weren't able to get the same person who did our tile to also do our hardwood. The hardwood crew didn't take quite as much time - they seemed to have rushed the job.

I waited for the manager to show up. Supposed to come between 7-9. No show. No call. Empire does not deserve my business. Or yours.
Description of Work: Failed to show up. Explained by saying a scheduling problem occurred. This happened three times. Obviously I wanted to give them a chance. I spoke with a manager and he scheduled to come out AND HE NEVER SHOWED. This behavior is unacceptable. Especially for a company that advertises what a great company they are.

We are not going to use them again. We ended up cancelling them out. They were the ones who had done the measuring and had insisted on doing the measuring. It was maybe it was about 6 inches too short. We are now without a bedroom with any furniture in it. They said we could re-order if we wanted to, and they never called to say they were sorry and that there were delays. They never asked if there was anything to do. I asked if they were willing to do anything special for us. I asked if they could upgrade it, but they didn't. We thought someone would call but nobody did. We cancelled the order and ended up going to someone else for the carpet. They could have measured it correctly to begin with. We don't know if they made a mistake or it was the manufacturing company. They could have called to say sorry because removing bedroom furniture is not easy. I called them to ask what could be done, and they said we could order so I told them that I did not like what they had in stock and if they could upgrade, and they said no. Their marketing is fine, it is just the follow up and the service. The price was average.
Description of Work: We used Empire. We had ordered a carpet that was supposedly a special order and they said it would take two weeks, and we kept calling and asking when it is coming. They said it was a special order but nobody bothered calling the manufacturer and finding out. Finally they called and said they were ready to install, so we had to get all the furniture out of the bedroom which is not an easy task, get all of the old carpeting out, and then they came and didn't order enough carpet.

.Since I left the bad review, I finally had someone call and come and check on the work. They sent a new crew out and tore up the hardwood and fixed the transition pieces so they are now level with the rest of he hardwood. I left the low score on responsiveness because I got no results at all the first three times I called and complained.
Description of Work: The hardwood was installed with 1/4 inch transition pieces between all the rooms even those with the wood going in the same direction. I received the same reason all three times I called to complain and I finally gave up. I was told that the manufacturer would not warranty the product without the transition pieces between all rooms. I contacted the manufacturer and have it in writing that this is not true. They did it the easy way and did not have to align the boards. This has made it really hard when cleaning the rooms.

Stay away and avoid empire company,their pricing is way over the top and the con tractors are subs and do work for empire. The contractor were late and leave early and at times only one person was on the job. NO ONE FROM EMPIRE ever showed up to check up on these duds. Finely after what should have been a two day job,I asked one one the installers how much longer and he said pro ally tomorrow and I said no,it's today or your boss and crew are our of here.

Fabulous! Loved the 2 guys - Ricky and Andrew. They were outgoing friendly and professional. They had to come back a 2nd day as they ran out of time - they came out on a Sunday. I would totally recommend Empire and in particular these 2 installers. They were incredible!!!
Description of Work: installed laminate throughout my house. Will be putting carpet on the stairs - that has yet to be installed.

Provider confirmed appointment for Saturday, 5/3/14, between 11am-1pm. Provider called on Friday the 2nd, via computer voice, to make final confirmation that appointment was still valid. Provider never called or showed up at the designated time. I called at 1:30pm to inquire as to the tardiness. Customer service placed me on hold and called the rep. I was then informed that the repd had double booked for that time frame. No phone call or email to let me know that they would not be able to provide the service they had confirmed twice. Wanted to reschedule for later the next week, when I had already told other contractors I would be making a decision on 5/4. Tried to be apologetic about it but there was no sincerity in either the reps voice or her supervisors. WIll not recommend this company as they cannot seem to understand the value of the customers time and no consideration of communication prior to appointment.
Description of Work: Provider was supposed to come and quote tile installation for my kitchen.

Salesperson arrived on time and was very congenial and informative. Installer arrived on time surprisingly as a 1 man contracted crew finishing outside the expected time frame (he worked hard and professionally with minimal breaks). No problem with receiving the correct carpet/padding color or quantity. I personally feel that Empire Today advertisements contain too many deceptive fine print exceptions and their policy of not telling the customer the actual component prices (only the contract price of the completed job) leads to confusion with selection of the most owner appropriate available products. And any rate, I feel their price is comparable to other chains providing similar service and certainly were good to work with.

The installer was nice and energetic; however, his assistants wanted to spend more time outside than inside working. The work was completed, but not in the timeframe they had promised.

They ended up exchanging everything out for us, but it was just more of a hassle than anything. The installers also didn't speak English so it was hard to communicate with them.
Description of Work: They were running a special so it seemed like a great deal. We were looking for just basic carpet for our rental property. Instead of going for a basic carpet he went for the more expensive brands/types. The type he actually sold me and said it didn't unravel, did.

Installers were punctual, professional, and knowledgable. They went above and beyond what was expected. They were told they didn't have to do the closets because we didn't have time to move stuff out of their way. When they were finished and we did the inspection we were pleasantly surprised that they had done the closets and had put everything back the way way it was

It was real hardwood. It had lifetime warranty on the tile and 15 years warranty on the hardwood. It took longer than they told me it was going to but I understood because they said they normally do 2-3 rooms and hardly ever get a whole house to do. They weren't always on time and I am still dealing with them. They have to come back and fix my toilet. They didn't vacuum out the vents like they were supposed to and they are aware of that and they said they will take care of that when they are here on Thursday. All in all my experience was good. I love the price.

The person who was sent to do the initial measurements was very nice, but apparently measured wrong. When the installation team arrived, they realized the error and quickly called and ordered the additional supplies needed. Empire stuck with the original quote and did not attempt to charge me for the additional materials or labor. The installation team did a great job and my floors look great. While I am pleased with my floor, the fact that they stood behind their original quote means a lot.
Description of Work: Removed glued damaged engineered hardwood in Kitchen and replaced with Ceramic Tile.

From start to finish, i could not be more pleased. I would definitely go to them in the future!!
Description of Work: Empire came to my home with carpet choices and recommendations for my needs. Very professional...not pushing the highest priced carpet. The next morning the installers called to give me an estimated arrival time. They arrived right on time and proceeded to do an excellent job. They were very professional, cleaned up as they went, moved furniture and returned it to the rooms as they finished. They even sprayed bleach on the sub flooring to ensure a clean start under the new carpet. I could not be more pleased with their work!! They worked HARD all day long (until 6 PM) but remained upbeat and determined to do a thorough job. Thank you Empire!!!

Since I did not make the purchase I can only verify that I was happy with the estimate process.
Description of Work: Called for an estimate in home for hardwood flooring. The representative was prompt and helpful and knowledgeable. The pricing was a bit higher than I felt comfortable with at this time so I have not yet made a purchase. The product presented was of good quality so calling them back at a later date is a good option.

I will never use this company again. Carpet installed in November, but was awful installation. Someone was to call me on Monday after installation on Friday--never called. I had to call Empire and then no one has heard of the problems. (I could place my entire hand between the stair riser and the carpet. the carpet had gaps along the wall and baseboard. Stairs had to be redone and new shoe molding had to be installed on top of carpet. Empire would send people out and they would look at the installation and say and quot;this is bad; we'll take care of it.and quot; Then you hear nothing. You call again and new person comes out and says and quot;this is bad; we'll take care of it.and quot; He is to call me in two weeks. I never hear from him. I call Empire he is no longer here. New person knows nothing of the situation. I call corporate--nothing is known. It took endless calls to people who would not help. I think they feel if they frustrate you enough that you 'll just let it go and they will have to do nothing. I have pictures to prove all the above! If I could have a do-over I would select Costco or HomeDepot, but I would never recommend or use Empire again. Awful experience that I would not want anyone else to have.
Description of Work: New carpet installation. Do not believe what the salesman tells you--much misinformation and don't expect him to call you back once you sign the contract. This sales person did not know carpet. Do not believe everything they tell you.

I did not and still am not having a pleasant experience. Since I put in for the warranty to be honored it has been a nightmare as described above. All we want is to have our floor intact. If they stopped carrying this line and cannot find anymore boxes then it stands true that Empire Today should be replacing our floor with a product they plan on having available for their customers warranties.
Description of Work: Entire living room and hallway replaced with a laminate line Empire Today was offering, (Classic American Natural Finish Laminate Flooring). At first we were extremely happy. Due to personal medical issues i was faced with and are still ongoing i did not put a claim in until July of 2010. At this time Empire Today called to tell us a 3rd party inspector was coming (Lee of Professional Floor Inspections) to verify defects. This person came, took and submitted photos which Empire claims they don't have. Shortly thereafter we were offered to have our floor completely changed out to a new product line as Empire Today was not carrying this line anymore. At this time Ron Patterson, Sales Representative with Empire came to our house with a new floor line. We chose a floor and Ron went back with our request. Approximately two or three weeks later Marilyn called and advised us my husband and I were wanting a floor which apparently was to cost an additional $1000.00. At this time we had to think about the additional monies. We made three attempts with Tim Sherwin to see if we could help ourselves with the price. We were told, "We took to long and the offer is no longer on the table". When we expressed our dissatisfaction in the manner in which we were being treated we were told, "We have other offices that handle our happy customers". Tim Sherwin went and accused my husband of trying to blackmail him! Approximately two weeks later, Marilyn, called us to set up installation of the floor we had chosen. We set up an installation day and had to pay for someone to help us remove everything in our living room once again. The day before we were to have our new floor installed, Bob Teck called my husband to say we were not getting the floor! After this conversation in November we called our attorney to assist us in this matter. Finally on February 23, 2011 Empire Today had two new installers come to our house. They were very pleasant. We did advise them that due to ongoing matters with the Empire offices we were going to be recording throughout their installation. Neither one of them refused. They gave us blue tape to mark our floor with so that they may see how many boards needed to be removed along with the thresholds and hallway area which they replaced. By that afternoon they did not have enough material to cover our main high traffic areas which needed replacing. I called Bob Teck and Jeff Emanuel which put me on speaker phone in his office. At this time I also still had my video camera on recording the phone conversation. Bob Teck got on the phone and said, "Let me tell you!" I told him you do not treat customers in this manner and I simply wanted to know when they were going to return to honor my 30 year warranty I have on this product? Bob said, "I could only find one box!" very rudely, He then sounded flustered and said, "I don't have to answer any more questions, I don't have to say anything!" He was going to speak to his installers and SOMEONE will get back to me! I am still waiting for that phone call. I notified my attorney of this and gave him a copy of the dvd and product wrapper which says 30 year warranty right on it.

We were looking for area rugs for our dining and living areas and needed a section of our basement carpeted. The Empire representative (Levi) was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The cost for having the basement carpeted was too expensive for us, and there was not a rug sample we liked for the dining area. I didn't think he had enough samples or variety of styles. The rug we liked for the living room was very pretty and on sale, so we purchased it. The rug (5 x 8) was delivered within a few days.
Description of Work: We purchased an area rug for our living room and got an estimate for carpeting a section of our basement approximately 12 ft x 12 ft.

I liked the fact that they were here at 8 in the morning and done by 11:30. Didnt take up a lot of my time, they were clean and courteous to me.
