+ -1 moreThey mis-diagnosed the problem trying to sell an entire new unit. The tech guy was pushy and stayed at our house for 1.5 hours talking our ears off while waiting for the sales guy to come give us a quote. The sales guy has since called and left me multiple messages over the weekend and then SHOWED UP TO MY HOUSE un-announced first thing Monday morning. When I did not answer he proceeded to make himself at home and walk around my yard to check out the unit. So unprofessional - all to make a sale when our unit does not need replacing. I used them this summer to clean the a/c and it was an expensive but decent experience. In the 6mo since summer I’ve received four sales calls to try to sell me stuff and get serviced again. So pushy and unprofessional.

Can't be any happier with the initial stages of the work and responsiveness of start and completion date. If you have an emergency they respond immediately. Frankly, I was surprised the were so responsive. What ever do avoid ARS / Rescue Rooter Nashville as the schedule me as priority and called back after waiting all day to tell me they have another client and can't meet my prescheduled out the door by 3:00 p.m. They could careless and lost the sale of two the expensive items noted above.
Description of Work: My experience with Dave, Donelson Air is the most honest and above board of any service provider in the contracting industry met to this date among many over a lifetime. He was courteous, efficient with expert knowledge. He explained every option available for keeping the system running based on my initial bandaid approach. As a customer, I throughly studied the various possibilities knowing the unit had a freon leak from the coil in the unit causing nasty collection of moldy particles in a cesspool of highly toxic liquified, what appeared as diluted gel, in the bottom unit drain pan which I cleaned with bleach the night before Dave visited. My initial intent was to purchase an Aprilaire dehumidifier to control home moister at danger levels of humidity, 75%, which is a breeding ground for mold and dangerous particles for humans and animals to breath. Not to say, costly future repairs due to a damp home. Once Dave provided his honest assessment, I decided to not just bandaid the unit which would probably cost half a new unit but purchase a new one. With military discount it was a no-brainer. The Aprilaire unit I found to be the best in the industry. I incapsulated my crawl space and added April Air given that this was “part” of my problem with elevated humidity. This choice is already mitigating my hard wood floor problems caused by a wet home. Although it was painful to pay for back to back problems insurance does not pay, I captured the problem before it growing into a “sever” extremely costly situation. All I can say is God good. I was very thankful Dave introduced a 10 year financing program that meets my budget and situation. Dave and this company approach is stellar. Thank Dave for helping me protect my family, pets and home from decay and health problems. Middle Tennessee is not the place to live if you can’t afford maintenance cost for humidity. Tennessee is best state to live so this inconvenience is worth it to me. Without reservations I recommend Donelson Air for all your heating, AC and home environment safety needs. + -1 moreWith having an older unit, there are things that must be taken into consideration for parts. Especially when most of the region has AC problems. The technician who was sent was phenomenal. His name is Tim Bailey and he wears an invisible cape. He went above and beyond answering my calls throughout the week and informing me daily of my parts on order even over the weekend. The professionalism that he displays is superior to any other Heating/Cooling company I've used.

+ -1 moreWe've been using them for the last 20 years. We always use them. I buy a yearly contract from them. I didn't get charged anything for that particular visit. Each unit is $49 per season. Once in the fall, and another $49 in the Spring as long as you get that contract. You get two visits for $99 as long as you purchase it ahead of time. They're very thorough, they're technicians are very professional. They call ahead, and they are always on time.If we ever have questions, if it's something they don't have the answer to they get the answer. We replaced a thermostat last year, and they didn't know if it was going to be compatible with the unit. They took it upon themselves to call the manufacturer of the heating and air conditioning unit, and the manufacturer of the thermostat to make sure it was compatible. They go the extra mile.

+ -1 moreThey came out, misdiagnosed the problem, and told me the part would be nearly $900 plus the labor, totaling nearly $1100. I found the part for $235, which would have been a 350% markup. I don't have a problem with anyone getting paid fairly, nor do I resent a reasonable markup on parts, but this was excessive. Their explanation as to why was unsatisfactory, so I asked them to leave. I had another company come out to day, and it turns out the problem was not what I was told, it was a standard electrical switch on the unit. It is repaired and working fine. The charge? $165.
Description of Work: Upper unit HVAC stopped working. Contacted Donelson Air, with whom I've had a service contract for 25 years. They also have installed three HVAC units for me, and others for family and friends based on my referrals. They came out, mis-diagnosed the problem,

+ -1 moreThroughout the process, the office person I dealt with was courteous and professional. The Tech was prompt, professional and polite. He answered all my questions clearly and succinctly. Should I need work in the future, I would be happy to see this individual again. Both times, I was called before they came out. The cost breakdown was $99.00 for the initial diagnostic visit on 10-5 and $630.00 to replace the control board today (10-6). While I rated the price A for Excellent, I actually don't really have a frame of reference. I am not a Heat and Air professional and have no real idea what a control board costs and we did not get other bids. However, it does not seem out of line with past work we've had done on our heat and air. One thing that might be counterintuitive to the service provider is that I may be more likely to purchase future services / products because the tech didn't try to sell me something during this visit. Every time our last service provider, Hiller, came to our house, whether for a service call or seasonal checkup, they always tried to sell us something. That got very tiring. Our house is old as are its systems; however, they work (with the occasional repair). Our selection of Donelson was based on Angies List, Yelp and neighbor recommendations. We will use Donelson again.
Description of Work: During recent cold snap, we turned on the heat and it would not come on. Donelson came out 10-5 (called them that morning) and quickly diagnosed the problem: the control board needed to be replaced. This morning (10-6), they checked on part availability and called me with the cost to replace. I approved the work and it was completed today.

+ -1 moreTechnician was very professional. Checked my air filters, checked the inside blower equipment and the outside heat pump. The equipment was cleaned as needed. No problems were found. The entire inspection took about 1 hour.
Description of Work: As part of annual service agreement, HVAC technician checked my air conditioning. The heating system will be checked in the Fall. If any parts were required, a service agreement discount would apply.
