Decks Unlimited

Great! Good communication and collaboration with us in the design phase. Occasionally hard to reach, but he's a busy guy. We were very happy overall with our porch. The only snag was that they killed off large portions of our yard when they left lumber and tools lying around for extended periods, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I would recommend them again.

My family was looking to replace our existing rear deck with a screened-in porch and deck. We made an appointment over the internet and Mark came out a few days later. He walked us through a very detailed discussion of what we were looking for, some of the options we could consider and his opinion of the advantages and disadvantages of each. He never tried to "sell" us, but really tried to understand exactly what we wanted. Mark gave us a rough estimate that afternoon. The final estimate required Mark to price out a couple custom features we asked for. The final estimate was ready later in the week. Once we decided to move forward, we scheduled the crew to come out and get started. They only do one project at a time and we were next in line. Project commended the weekend before Halloween (2012). The crew had the old deck down in a couple of days. They hauled away all the old material without any damage to the yard - which required carrying out all the pieces by hand through the side gate. The frame for the new deck when up pretty quickly, including pouring cement foundation holes, bolting the frame to our brick exterior and sketching out the electrical work. Over the course of the next five weeks (interrupted by Thanksgiving) all the work was completed including three county inspections (structural) plus two electrical inspections. Painting and staining took a bit longer than expected due to some colder than expected weather. There was a slight miscommunication regarding the placement of the steps down to the yard, but the crew discussed the options with us and the end result was better than the initial plan. Even though there was definitely more material required with the revised plan, Mark did not charge us extra. We had good weather almost the entire construction period, which helped speed things along, but did not reveal that there was a bit a leak where part of the porch met the house. Even though it was a few weeks after the completion of the project (and their new project was 30 miles in the opposite direction), Mark sent the crew back over to take a look. This took a couple of attempts since there was perfect weather each time the guys came out :) Got it fixed, and again, there was no extra charge. We are more than pleased with the result. I think our new porch and deck are the best in the neighborhood (and there are some really nice ones). Since the completion of our project, at least two families on our block have contacted Decks Unlimited for their own projects and I know of two more that will do so next summer. Throughout the whole process, Mark and his whole crew were professional, friendly and helpful. They were very considerate of neighbors when they had their trucks on-site and we very considerate of my elderly mother-in-law and young granddaughter. Mark even made a birdhouse as a gift for my granddaughter. I would highly recommend Decks Unlimited for anyone looking to build or replace a porch or deck.

I am very happy with my new wooden deck that they installed in my yard. It looks great and you can tell that the people who did this knew what they were doing. It might have been just a little expensive, but they did an impressive job building my new deck. It looks great.
