D.A.S Building and Remodeling

David started on time. I bought all the materials (for the most part) and David did the labor. We had the full plan of what we wanted and how we wanted the finished project to look. We shared that plan with David before he started and continually as he moved thru the project. Overall, David did an OK job. It was a big job. But in my opinion...what makes these builders unique is their attention to detail and finishing touches. This is where I feel David came up short. There were many different places where the workmanship was very sub-par...paint run lines, poor grouting, mis-cut tiles, bad painting (thin spots and missed spots). I asked David to add a vent for the shower drain to flow more quiet than before. Since then, I have smelled sewer air almost everyday which tells me he didn't install it correctly. I'm having it fixed which is costing me another $100. My biggest complaint was when we asked David to install a shower rod and hooks on the back of the shower. This meant that holes would need to be drilled into the tile. He knew this was a request from day one...and when it was the last day of the project and he was ready to be done, it became an impossible task. David said no one drills holes in tile and that the rod and hooks would need to fit in grout lines. What???? That's total garbage. It was obvious that David was mentally done with this project. He told me he had another project beginning on Monday...and when it was Saturday afternoon @ 4, it was obvious he was ready to move on. After several verbal disagreements on this last day, I wanted him gone. Yes, I paid him his last check and that was probably my mistake. At that point, I didn't want him to touch anything else. I would fix it the way it should be. I think he's a talented builder, but his attention to detail on my project was VERY disappointing. I'd hate for someone else to have my same experience. If time runs short and he doesn't plan appropriately, someone else might get short changed like I did. I have photos to back up my statements.
