+ -1 moreI was a long time satisfied customer until April 2016, all of a sudden you couldnt get anyone to answer the phone. I left messages for months with no return call, finally in June I received a call that they hired a new office person to answer the phone and it was time to do my quarterly service- we set up a time for later in the week, i took the day off for the inside treatment. They never showed, never called, I called several times and again only got voicemail so I gave up and hired another company. Two months later they call to collect my premium - I ask to speak to a manager, who is conveniently not in the office and assured I will receive a call back-I never heard from back from Altera until last night when I received papers from a collection agency. Unfortunately I am not the only victim, I came across several other reviews tonight with the exact same situation.
Description of Work: Quarterly Pest Control inside and outside my home.

+ -1 moreThey sprayed on the outside and I was having problems on the inside and they said those should go away due to the fact that they sprayed the outside and it didn’t go away. So I finally convinced them to spray inside and they said they will go away within two weeks.

+ -1 moreFirst appointment was great, they let us know we needed to be home so we could also have the interior done and they sprayed both internally and externally. No problem. Weeks later we noticed a ton of ants inside the home. We called Alterra and asked for a re-spray and they scheduled a technician to come out two days later. For our second appointment they didn't call despite being instructed. I've attached and example that clearly indicates: "7/22 give 30 min call ahead ants INSIDE of home 8/20." When confronted they refunded our money and cancelled our service contract. I guess I can't complain there. Now to find someone who can kill these ants. http://i.imgur.com/WmsQceV.jpg

+ -1 moreFirst time the Alterra technician came out he sprayed and left spider traps. Said that the problem will get worse before it gets better. He was right. No reduction in ants or ticks or spiders. Came out second time for the treatment. New person told me the names of the different types of ants we have. Said that he would use some bait that will be taken back to queen and kill the nest. I'm writing this at 10 since the second treatment. No noticeable difference in the amount and location of ants. Seem to come in through garage, front of the house, back of the house, everywhere. Alterra does give a guarantee of returning to treat again but no guarantee that they will succeed in eradicating the pests. I'll keep up dating as they treat my house through the year.
Description of Work: Yearly contract of quarterly treatments. Comes out and does initial spaying for ants, spiders and in the yard for ticks and fleas. Set traps for spiders

+ -1 moreI think they are average and I don’t k now if I would recommend them, over some other companies. I am probably going to change to another company. The price is probably a little high for what they do.

Description of Work: Signed up a week ago for initial set up 39.00 and $99.00 quarterly. They were in the neighborhood going door to door. I signed up because I thought we might need the services. After I signed up a tech came out the same day and used the owners water and sprayed.A few days later after telling my boyfriend what I did. My boyfriend told me to cancel. Long story short ...they will let you cancel but it will cost you $160.00 to do so. I told them that I would pay the $99 and not to come back out. He just kept saying that it would cost $160.00 to cancel. Well they came back yesterday while we were both at work and put a service form on our door. No phone call to let you know they were there or that they were coming. They have only been in business in 6 months. I call the way they do business is a scam. This has been an unpleasant experience overall. I will not recomment this company at all.

+ -1 moreI had been calling various pest control companies to exterminate ants in my yard and to check for wasps. Many places did not offer comprehensive care and could not go out into the yard or up toward the roof. Alterra is licensed to go 8 feet from the house for yard bugs and up into the soffets to treat wasps. I received the first treatment free on a Memorial Day special. Brett S. was a courteous and informative salesman. Zachary T. was very professional as he treated the property and very knowledgeable as he taught me about the process and the plan.
Description of Work: Treatment of garage & yard for ants and to check to see if the occasional wasp that I see is actually coming from a nest on my property.
