Please avoid at all cost. They are dishonest and damaged almost all of our belongings. The absolute worst experience and I would never use their services again.

Description of Work: I moved to a different state and Alexander's has a great partnership with Atlas Vanlines that also allows them to connect with other local small companies to coordinate the entire move. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There are certainly cheaper options for moving, but quality is a huge factor in securely moving your things and Alexander's quality was outstanding and worth the cost.

Description of Work: As part of my relocation package, this company took my TVs down, boxed them and unboxed them at my new house. I did not give them an overall A because when they showed up to unbox them, they were not prepared to rehang the TVs. They indicated that other service reps would need to be sent out to do that work. I was unwilling to take additional time off from work and just hung the TVs myself.

This review actually involves both Alexanders Mobility Services in Nashville TN and Lux Transfer in Bozeman, MT. They are both agents of Atlas Van Lines and were the receiving agent, and the sending agent, respectively. The trouble started after the packing was completed. The packing went great, Lux did a very professional job. However, as soon as they had weighed in, I was informed that the cartage expenses would rise from the $26,000.00 quoted to over $36,000.00. I expected a 10% variance, but not 38.4%.I wasn't happy, but what could I do? Then, when they arrived at our new home, I was informed that I would have to pay the driver an additional fee (about $2000.00) because they discovered that they couldn't get the truck in our long driveway, so they would have to rent a shuttle truck and extra labor. The final disappointment on this part of the odyssey was that they couldn't deliver my hot tub without more cash expense. I was completely tapped out at this point. So, I had to put it in storage at the local agent. (Alexanders Mobility). My originating agent told me that it would cost $50 a month. Then began the second half of this horror story. I contacted them 6 times over the following 20 months to get an estimate for the cost of delivering the hot tub. I got promises of call backs that never came. Finally I spoke to a supervisor at the warehouse about my problems. That resulted in the $1232.00 bill for storage. Apparently, they forgot to bill me monthly for this charge. After I paid that bill, he told me that they didn't have time to bring it out to me, but he gave me the number of a sub-contractor that I could contact about delivering it. OK. I did that. Those fellows were great. Unfortunately, when the hot tub was delivered, there was some damage that had obviously occurred while in storage. (There was damage to the hot tub cover, and you could see the puncture marks in the plastic sheeting that they had covered it with. There was also a years worth of dust in the damaged areas. This confirmed that the sub contractors hadn't done the damage Replacement cost - $690.) In addition, $380.00 worth of parts were missing. (Trim pieces, waterfall covers, drain cap, filter cover, etc.) After taxes and shipping, the bill came to $1316.01.I spoke with the supervisor at the warehouse, and he assured me that this would be covered by the storage agreement. "Just bring in the quote and we'll take care of it." Well, that's when more bad news started. I delivered the parts estimate to them the following day. I didn't hear from them for several weeks, and my calls were not returned. Finally, I got through to someone at their corporate office. Who delayed me, but did email me with the news that none of the expenses were going to be covered because I didn't do an inspection at the warehouse prior to delivery. Well, if they had mentioned that I needed to, I would have. But I assumed that since they had me using one of their sub-contractors, telling them about it would have sufficed. Frankly, I had asked to see it at the warehouse when I first spoke to the supervisor, but was told that I wasn't allowed back where it was stored, and in any case, it was surrounded by other peoples items. "You can inspect it when it's delivered". I didn't expect a flawless and easy experience. But, I also didn't expect to be treated so poorly. I will never use Atlas Van Lines or it's agents, ever again.

From the beginning to the end, it was another good experience with Atlas. The customer service rep very friendly, accommodating on a short notice request, and even stopped by to check on us. The operator called to confirm and also transferred me to the scheduler/? to make sure they understood we prefer one day move if possible. The movers came by to check to make sure that the apartment is correct and confirmed that the truck was arriving shortly which they did. They came at 9am and worked non-stop except for lunch and smoke breaks. All of them were very friendly, had no attitude and even moved items from the garage that my husband moved the night before and also set up a bed that was taken down previously from the previous Atlas move. The driver Ron was very nice too - he went back to the apartment to pick up his stuff and also helped break down boxes to off-load for us and closed our garage door. We rewarded the boys with a generous tip to show our appreciation.
Description of Work: Local move within Franklin, TN - same zipcode from apartment complex to 4000 square feet house. Apartment had 2 bedrooms with 1 garage of stuff and 1 garage size storage unit around 9000 lbs. We were quoted 1-2 day move depend on hours for 4 men. We ended up with only 8.5 hours because we moved some stuff over to save time. It was 1-2 hours less than quoted.

The crews showed up when they said they would and did an excellent job. There was one damaged article (a freezer). The damage was discovered a couple of weeks after the move and the cost to repair was determined to be equal to the cost of a new freezer. The company sent the check in a timely fashion .I would certainly use Alexander's Mobility again; they have responded quickly to my requests and accomplished the move faster than I had expected any company to respond. The parking and loading was done in Nashville with the unloading done in Fort Myers, Florida.
Description of Work: Workers from Alexanders packed up the household effects and moved them from Nashville to Fort Myers, Florida, then unloaded the truck and placed the boxes and furniture in the new house.

My Aunt in MO unexpectedly had to go into a nursing home. Her apartment needed to be cleared out. We were worried that there wasn't much time for her to decide what she would want to keep with her. She started out in a tiny space at the nursing home but hoped to move to a larger space. We thought she'd want more of her things when she did. After having it here for 2 months, it was time to send it back. I called Alexander's because they were so good moving it in. They put down runners so they wouldn't soil carpets, they moved carefully through a house already full of my own stuff and things hanging on the walls. They were cheerfully accomodating when I asked them to move a couple of my things to make room for my aunt's (from an upstairs bedroom down 2 stories to the basement). They even pointed out a couple of small scratches they made moving a large heavy piece in the door, so I could put in a claim. I didn't because I thought they were pretty minor and not noticable. When they returned to move the items back, it was the same "head" guy but a different crew. (I wish I remembered their names.) The service was still wonderful, even to moving my things back up 2 stories from the basement. They were careful to watch out for my things, put down runners and worked efficiently. The appraiser, Kevin Quagliano, was helpful in explaining insurance and "high-value" items, as well as a probable timetable since it was a relatively small load and would be added to another truck going that way. Carrie Hodgson helped me through the payment process. Both were good at explaining things and patient in answering questions.
Description of Work: Was the local representative for a national moving company that moved my aunt's belongings here from Missouri. I was so impressed with them that when it was time to send her belongings back, I asked them to do it. Most items were still in boxes but there were some fragile things that we'd brought up ourselves that needed to be packed for the return.

They helped us set up the washer and the dryer. They were outstanding and I was really impressed. The estimate was low for the amount of things they had to move, but the guys worked an extra 6 to 7 hours over a 2 day period. They stayed calm the whole time and did their job. The driver was terrific and he was there the whole trip. He had a different group of people to work with when loading the things, and a different group of people when unloading. They handled everything very well and their quality of service is good.

We got 4 bids, and they were one of the least expensive. What impressed me was that the salesman had suggestions on how to make the move with in my budget. I had someone call to confirm when they would be arriving, and the account executive called every day to make sure everything was going well with packing, and then showed up personally to make sure everything was delivered properly. The driver was great, and was very responsive with our concerns on a broken item.
