I can't recommend Jason at Accurate Air enough! About this time last year, I was a member of one those very large, well known HVAC companies here in town. They include a few tune ups a year for your different systems in their annual membership. So some guys came out for a routine maintenance tune up on my heating system, and proceeded to tell me that I needed a whole new HVAC system immediately. When I didn't respond by immediately agreeing to buy a new system from them, they became increasingly aggressive and condescending. What had started as "you see these cracks here" turned into "I'm really surprised your dogs aren't dead. There is carbon monoxide leaking into your house right now." He tried to tell me the low levels would kill the dogs first because of their smaller lungs, and eventually me. He dismissed my co2 detectors in the house by saying that they could have gone off while I was at work, and then stopped buzzing before I came home, and that they wouldn't go off again. He also said they may not detect the low levels that would still kill the dogs. He went on and on, again increasingly condescending and aggressive. When I finally got them to leave, he basically said, "Fine, but I'm condemning your system so you can't use it." (Do they even have the authority to do that?!) He "tagged it as unsafe" and turned it off, telling me that I should call them back "before it was too late." Bullies. I immediately called a different company out. They came and gave it a brief, cursory look, and then spent the rest of the time trying to sell me a new system and telling me why their company was better than the first. And then a friend told me about Accurate Air. Jason came out very quickly, and gave the whole system an extremely thorough examination. He talked me through what he was doing and showed me the parts as he examined them. (There was some normal/age rusting but no holes as the previous two companies had claimed.) He said he didn't take lightly the idea of untagging a system that had been deemed unsafe, and it showed in his thoroughness. In the end, he said he was comfortable untagging it and that while there was some normal wear and tear and it would eventually need replacing, it was NOT a danger and did not need to be immediately replaced. He was very honest in stressing the age of the unit and that it was definitely well past it's prime and nearing the end of it's run, but assured me that my dogs and I were not in immediate danger. I thanked him profusely, of course, and that should have been the end of it. But about a week later, I was still so paranoid and freaked out about the idea of this odorless killer, I texted him and basically said, "Let's just do it." He called me back immediately. The man basically talked himself out of a sale. He said, "I'll change it out for you if it will make you feel better, but it is NOT leaking carbon monoxide right now, and I think you might be able to get another couple of years out of this system." WHO DOES THAT?! That interaction effectively ended my paranoia (and resulting insomnia) and solidified my trust in his business. I now have him out twice a year to do the regular maintenance on the AC and heating units. There is such a PEACE that comes with knowing I can just BELIEVE what he tells me about needed repairs or problems! The AC portion went out this summer, and again he fit me in his schedule quickly, came out and had it up and running in no time. And I never had to doubt what he was telling me or worry about whether or not I should get a second opinion or if he was taking advantage of me. It's a small company with an extremely diligent and trustworthy owner. You will not regret it!! I only wish I could find a plumber/electrician/ mechanic/etc etc etc that I could trust as much!!
