+ -1 moreMr. Arnold was always punctual and arrived when he promised, both for the estimate, and for the work itself. He made good suggestions which reduced the cost of the project (no return air duct needed-transfer grille instead), and his price was competitive with other estimates I obtained. He completed the job on a day I reqeusted in one day (by himself) as promised, and the installaiton was neat, and professional, and he cleaned up well at the end. I was able to communicate with his company via e-mail and telephone between the time of the original estimate (August) and the date of the job (November). He accepted my credit card on the spot at the end of the job for the quoted price. I would use his company again.
Description of Work: Installation of insulated rigid steel 7" round supply air duct from utility room main plenum through floor along ceiling of garage to basement finished office with wall supply grille and damper valve in supply duct, and installation of 12"x12" transfer grille under stairs to basement office to allow passive return air to main HVAC unit.

Description of Work: I purchased my home a month ago, and just found a problem with the thermostat. I went to Home Depot, bought a new one and installed it. The first thing I realized is that my HVAC system is a conventional system - not a heat pump, which is what my home inspector told me. I tried programming the thermostat for a variety of systems and could not get the heat to come on. I called AC&H on the advice of my handyman, and I'm so glad I did. The owner spent 15 minutes with me on the phone trying to troubleshoot the problem so he wouldn't have to charge me for a service call. Ultimately, that didn't work, but he did his best to avoid having to charge me anything. The next day, he sent out a service tech first thing in the morning. He was punctual, friendly, and explained everything he was doing in detail. It turned out that the HVAC unit had a faulty breaker inside the unit. The technician fixed the problem and had the heat working properly in about 90 minutes, as well as giving me some suggestions on how to keep my heating bills lower in the winter. Total cost - 90 dollars. I HIGHLY recommend this company for anyone who needs HVAC or water heater servicing - my experience with them was fantastic.

+ -1 moreHe had a helper who arrived first and on time. The job was done in one day and we are pleased with the unit and the work. We're waiting for the upstairs unit to die and will use A C & H Mechanical to replace that one when it happens.
Description of Work: We had a new HVAC unit installed, as the old, really old one died. He thought I wanted a single speed and I thought we were discussing a variable speed unit. His original quote was for the former, but I wanted the later and paid the difference. I believe it really was a misunderstanding on both of our parts.

Description of Work: I called AC&H to come out and look at my AC that has not been working properly for months. I called on a Friday, and the owner came out on Monday. Gave me my options and I decided the best route was to replace the entire unit for maximum performance. They came out a few days later, and I am very pleased with them. The workers were professional, polite, and got the job done within the amount of time I expected, cleaned up completely, and left everything as it was. Very pleased and will definitely use them again if needed.

Description of Work: I had this company check out my furnace to tune it up between Winter and Summer. They came out promptly and took less than a half a day to do the work.
