6th Man Movers

They had 3 men move us out of our old home and only 2 showed up to move us into a new home, which was larger than the other. They also planned to charge us by the hour, which would have been significantly more with only 2 men. Also, they didn't have a dolly to help with the move and because there were only 2, they couldn't move one of our sofas upstairs and said it would have to remain downstairs. We were not ok with that, so they rescheduled to come another day and move it upstairs. On the rescheduled date, they were a no-show and didn't call, so we had to reschedule again. One of the men in their billing department told my husband this was our fault for not calling them to follow up when they didn't show up. They also broke several items (side table, chair and antique fireplace cover) and banged/scratched up several others (dining chairs). Finally they automatically charged my husband's credit card for an amount we did not agree upon. They did nothing to compensate us for the broken items, nor did they offer any discount and would not return calls after we were charged. Not only will we not use this company again, but we have told anyone we know that is moving to not use this company. Couldn't be more dissatisfied with their service.

It went well, overall. There were a few things left behind but it wasn't entirely the fault of the movers.

We found 6th Man through an Angie's List deal and we're happy we purchased it. The crew arrived early and eager to get going and they did an excellent job. Grady, David and Kasey were fast, efficient, friendly and didn't damage anything. They asked questions about where everything needed to go and didn't hesitate to relocate a few items that were accidentally placed in a wrong room. The office staff also were nice and responsive, answering any questions I had. The only issue I had with 6th Man is that they charge customers for using tape, the tape they put around the furniture covers to protect things. I've moved numerous times over the past 20 years and this is the first time I've ever been charged because they need to use tape. To me, that should be just a cost of doing business that they absorb, or just include as part of the hourly price of the move. Not as a separate purchase. It felt like an upcharge to me, especially since the trip fee was already $200. Surely, tape could be included in that fee. Nevertheless, charging for tape was a minor issue in the grand scheme of the move. The amazing crew more than made up for the upcharge.

Customer service was very good prior to the move, they were responsive, gave a detailed quote, and were easy to work with on scheduling. The two man team showed up on time on moving day and were very friendly. They did a good job wrapping everything and protecting larger items so they didn’t get damaged, so no complaints there, but there was no sense of urgency at all, they moved pretty slowly all day. I also had a few larger fragile items that I was hoping to have them move, but every time I asked they came up with an excuse why they couldn’t, which was annoying. After the move was done, I reviewed the invoice and noticed that there was a $48 charge for moving supplies that were sold to me, so I called to ask what the supplies were. The person I spoke with couldn’t explain the charge, but said he’d look into it and call me back, but never got a call back or any resolution. Overall it wasn’t a bad experience, but I’ll be looking elsewhere next time I move.

Great guys, fast, fun, professional. will hardly recommend.

Went very well. 3 men and 26 foot truck for 9 hours. They were able to get a very heavy and long elliptical trainer to the second floor of the new house with a switchback stair. Had to sign a waiver due to size/weight in case of any accidental damage, but there was none. They did a great job and if I am ever stupid enough to move again I will definitely call 6th man.

Wonderful experience, as far as moves go.

Their guys that did the move are real helpful, friendly and were fast. They either under estimated the job or didn't go fast enough and wanted to charge more to finish what we already contracted with them to do in the first place. They actually brought a truck that was too small. By the time they unloaded it and came back and loaded the rest of the stuff they wanted to charge us more because they brought too small of a truck. They also forgot their tool box. I think they could give better quotes. The guys that come out and survey and quote, need to talk to the guys who actually move it.

They were very buttoned-up. They had their paperwork and very nice and came and introduced themselves and explained what they were going to do. They kept us in the loop and let us tell them exactly where to put everything. And they didn't break anything.

They were super fast. The guys on the ground seemed excited to be there and really did a great job. They didn't break anything and did it really really fast.

The service was good, very good. I would tell someone that is looking to use them that they were easy to use and set up. They were efficient.

Cost was right. Workers were a little aloof. Overall I would say we were satisfied with the work.

The office staff were very professional and prompt with a response to initial contact. The young man who was managing our move explained specific details of how the move would go and the cost of each service provided. On the day of the move the 3 young men were very polite and called before they arrived to give us an exact time to expect them, which was earlier than we first thought it would be. They took great care of our furniture by padding each piece. We have a large hutch with glass shelves which couldn't be removed and they discussed a plan with us on how they would suggest to proceed with moving it to prevent damage to those shelves. We were most concerned about the piano and they did a great job moving it. We paid a little extra fee for piano moving, but it was definitely worth it! All of our items were delivered safely to our new home. They took great care in putting things on the truck in the order and location they would need to take them off in, since we had upstairs, downstairs, and garage destinations for the items. Overall, the whole experience was so easy and such a refreshing change from other moves we have had in the past. We will definitely call them again in the future and have already referred them to our friends and family.

6th Man Movers were great to work with for a number of reasons. Getting an up-front estimate for the work was easy. On the day we had scheduled our estimate, someone called from the office and had us perform a walk-through of the house while doing a live-stream video using a smartphone. This allowed them to have a much clearer idea of what was to be moved, made the estimate more accurate and kept us from having to wait around the house for someone to drop by to perform the estimate. Great use of technology! After we had the original estimate done, we had a few changes to make to the things being moved. They were very easy to work with over the phone, and we had no trouble updating our work order. On the day of the move, they called ahead of time to let us know when they'd be arriving and showed up on time. They were attentive to the requests and recommendations we had, and they handled our things with as much care as possible. They used a combination of furniture pads, stretch wrap, cardboard and packing tape to make sure furniture surfaces and glass furniture doors remained undamaged during the move. When we arrived at the new house, if the movers had any questions regarding where an item should go, they were quick to ask. They also made sure to ask where we would like furniture placed in each room so we wouldn't have to try moving some of the heavier stuff on our own. All in all, they did a fantastic job!

Everything went smoothly from quoting process to the move itself. To accurately give us a quote we had a Facetime session at the existing house, where we highlighted the largest items that would need to move and what it would take to get the items moved. They were thorough in their explanations and asked good questions; a very efficient way of conducting a pre-move interview. The day of the move the crew arrived on time. They wrapped all of the furniture with pads, using cardboard to help protect the glass doors on our serving hutch and dresser. If they had a question about anything they were quick to ask and prompt to respond. Once we arrived at our new home, they walked through the new house to make sure they understood the layout and where the large pieces were to go, and then unloaded the truck efficiently. As the larger pieces came into the house they were attentive in making sure they didn't damage doorways or the hardwood flooring, and made sure the large furniture was placed where we wanted it in each room. All in all, a very positive experience. Would use again.

Team was on time and incredibly courteous and careful. Charged me less than I was quoted. Couldn't be happier. First rate.

Very nice crew. The pre-move consultation estimate and advice was spot on. They broke a couple of small things.

We ran into some trouble. My home actually required two trucks instead of one. They got one truck filled up and they left. I needed to be out of the house the next day. I called them and begged them to send another truck and get everything else and they wouldn't do it. They said all their trucks were out and blah blah blah. Anyway, I felt like they should have, even if it was seven o'clock at night, sent another truck and got the rest of my stuff because they were supposed to get it that day. They should have, when they got the truck filled, informed their boss and said, "Hey, we need another truck," and they didn't. It was a big hassle because the buyers of my house had moved up their closing date and they sent in their own cleaner. Anyway, it caused a big problem and I had to pay extra for the extra truck and the extra man. The men were nice, the workers were fine. But they should have called, when the truck got full and said, "Hey, we need another truck," and got it done. They also did not get everything. I meant for them to get everything. I wound up having to pay the new owner of the house $150 to haul off some stuff. So, I just don't know that I would use them again. They were very apologetic. I talked to the owner, he tried to explain. He was nice and was sorry. It shouldn't have been that way. Being in business for very long, they should know that it would take more than one truck. I told them that I kept all my furniture because I'm saving for my sister who is moving home. It was going to be a 3000 sq. ft. house full of furniture, plus all the boxes. Another thing was, me and my friends did all the boxing ourselves and they used my boxes. I think they did give me a credit for the boxes they used, but they were not that fast. The first time they only had two men and the second time they had three. They should have had three the first time. Another thing was, they said we weren't ready. That's just not true. We had everything boxed up. I don't know what work they wanted me to do. There were some things and my son and daughter went and stayed till midnight finishing up the rest. When the second truck came it was ready. It wouldn't have mattered that for the first trip if some things weren't ready because they couldn't fit them in the truck anyway. I have found one thing broken, my coffee pot was broken. Also, when they put everything in the garage, they put furniture in front of the boxes. I can't get to my boxes without crawling over furniture. They should have put the furniture against the wall and then put the boxes where I could get to them. So that was not common sense, that was not professional. They were late both days. One time it was traffic, but one time I didn't know what it was.

I have big furniture pieces and the unloading took much longer than I had planned when I decided to use PODs. I have read comments that this moving company is too expensive. They gave me accurate quotes, went out of their way to make the move go smoothly and broke NOTHING. No damage to my house or furniture.
