This company has a lot of people with a bad disposition and cancelled an appointment because I asked for another technician to come!! Do not use them as they are arrogant and acted like they were doing me a favor! Their quote was almost double what other electricians have quoted me since. To boot they guy kept telling me it was going to be 700 dollars without any breakdowns and in materials we were talking about some cables and connectors! He also kept repeating that I had to pay 50% upfront or else they wouldn't come blah blah. Just terrible!!
Description of Work: Was trying to add a flood camera outside my garage.

I called due to an emergency situation with an electrical issue under my house. I spoke directly to the owner of the company and even sent him a video of my problem. He told me it was probably a wire that was grounding to metal from a 110 source but would send an electrician immediately the next morning at 8am. The electrician showed up on time, but all he did was take a few plates off my breaker boxes and then stated the problem was a recalled surge protector wired to my HVAC unit. He stated if i disconnected these i should not have any problems, but refused to even go under my house to investigate. He then called his boss and proceeded to let me know it would be $225 per hour he was there and would have to call for help to get someone under my house. Since he had already been there an hour, I was not going to pay this ridiculous amount just waiting so I sent him off (paid for first hour). I then called my HVAC provider (ESTES AND CAIN) and the owner came out directly, disconnected the surge protectors and then proceeded to go under my house and found there was a grounded wire that had been pinched and was causing the problem. Not only did he video the whole episode, but he went ahead and fixed the issue by splicing the broken wire and completed the job. Pretty sad I had to get another company when a certified (or so they say) electrician refused to go under the house to take care of this problem. I would never recommend this company for any electrical work in Middle TN. Please find a real electrician to do the work.

As earnest money for the work to be performed upgrading the home to 400A and installing the generator I payed the company $1,900.00 in August 2014. In November 2014 The coachlighs where installed without a hitch except the company wouldn't provide a quote/price to perform the service. (make me a good deal). They just had a job cancel and the workers were available to start immediately. They did a fine job. Left the place a mess with wire stripping materials, lost screws, and cut tubing though. In December 2013 The 2x 20A outlets were performed quickly with no issue, except again, the company would not provide me with a quote. Make me a great deal. The pool service panel went o.k. but they removed some knockouts and left these open after they were finished. The pool bonding and inspection was to be handled by the company too. My pool installers actually did the work (because the company was slow to respond) but the company was to schedule the inspection. They failed to call this in until a week later which pushed my pool installation back over a week and into fowl weather. The company would not come clean on the fact that they dropped the ball, but instead said "somehow the inspection was dropped". The lack of a quote was the same as all of the other jobs. The company requested a healthy deposit of $1,900.00 for the original work to be performed so they figured they were covered for payment - which is why they were not so motivated to provide formal quotes. The lack of cleanup was the same as the first job. After completion of this work there was still the 400A upgrade and installation of the generator. The company requested additional deposit money after finally providing me a verbal quote with a promised formal written quote for the work already performed of $1,500.00. I provided them with an additional $1,500.00 deposit to bring the original earnest money deposit back up to $1,900.00. As discussions progressed around the installation of the 400A upgrade and generator it became apparent that the company was in no hurry to complete my services. After a few 'forgotten' appointments and still no formal quote/invoice for the completed work and no formal quote for the 400A/Generator services I have had enough. I contacted the company and again requested and was promised an invoice. I also made it clear that I would not use them for the 400A upgrade since they have been so unprofessional in following up and doing what they promised they would do after holding onto my earnest money for the past 4 months. I was told they would refund the earnest money and they would get the invoice for work performed out to me right away. 3 weeks later after the same typical treatment I contacted my credit card company and filed a complaint for the latest earnest money deposit. 1 day after this I get an inflated invoice from the company that does not reflect anything that we discussed and the company somehow believed that I was jerking them around. They billed me for a Pool Bonding service when they know they didn't perform this and they delayed the inspection process by over a week. Let this be a lesson to all AngieListers. Don't pay ahead of time. Maybe this is just human nature, but this company is only as trustworthy as they have to be in order to collect payment.
Description of Work: I originally contacted company to upgrade home service from 225A to 400A. (estimated at $4,000.00) I also engaged company to install a whole home power generator. During the interim I engaged company to install pool service panel, bond the pool, install garage coachlights, and install 2x 20A outlets in garage. (finally estimated after the work was performed at $1,500.00 but formal final invoice inflated to over $2,600.00)

Response from Discount Electrical Service
This is EXACTLY the reason we require deposits from our customers. When the member originally contacted us it was about a large garage that he was going to add onto his home. We sent our estimator out the next day, September 12th not August, and walked thru what all he wanted done. Originally the estimate was for the new garage wiring, a 400 amp upgrade and wiring for an in ground pool. There were several questions which the engineer from the power company needed to answer and we scheduled a meeting with them onsite. After 3 phone meetings and 2 meetings with the engineer, it was determined that the member's garage was going to cause issues with being built on top of the power company's primary lines. The plan was modified and we waited to hear from the customer that his building was under construction. 2 MONTHS later the member contacted us and said he was unable to hire a contractor to build his garage but that he had the in ground pool under way. We sent our guys out to wire some sconce lights and prepare for the pool wiring. Unfortunately this customer does not understand the changes that he made in the schedule and in the plan caused additional work and the wiring for the pool, which was originally to come off the new service thru the new garage, was now being done into his original panel. Additionally, the member requested 2 dedicated circuits for computer equipment in his existing garage and had ordered a 400 Amp generator for his home. At this point we were into December and had hundreds of emergency calls coming in due to inclement weather and holiday activities. Our crew was sent on calls in which families did not have heat and/or power in their homes instead of to wire this in ground swimming pool that no one was going to be using for 2-3 months and this upset the member. We also didn't bother to ask for additional payment at this time due to the trouble the member was having getting a contractor to build his garage. The pool wiring was underway when the member called and requested to let the pool installers do the bonding. This is technically not allowed unless the pool installers pull their own permit with a license they DID NOT HAVE. However we agreed to let them do it because it freed us up to help another family and we where there to check the work before the inspection was done. In our area the inspectors have 72 hours after we submit for inspection to come. In this case there was rain and mud and as the inspectors are extremely busy there was a delay in the inspection. Not sure what the reason was but we passed on the first go and the member was not happy because he was possibly planning to swim in January? Yes, I am sarcastic about this customer due to his condescending attitude and all the time we put into his project planning and modifying as he changed things. Finally, on Christmas eve I was unable to make it to a meeting with the member due to the volume of calls we had from family's with electrical emergencies in their homes. Randy fired us that day. He had paid in 2 deposits, one for $1900 and one for $1500. The pool wiring, sconce lights, dedicated circuits for computer equipment and all permits where $2675. We had extended some discounts as a part of the package for hiring us to do the garage wiring ($2500), 400 Amp Service upgrade ($2500) and generator package ($1000-$2000) however those discounts do not apply when you fire someone and give that work to some other company. The member just doesn't seem to understand that you can not take advantage of a discount for buying in bulk when you only buy one part of the whole package. The member has since been credited by the credit card company $1500 and owes us $775. As of this response it is still outstanding and unpaid.

They were there same day, within the 1 hour window provided. Had automatic text messages to let me know when they were on the way. Once finished I was able to pay online through paypal. They completed my service under just the basic service call price of $145. Couldnt be happier!

We called and got a response the next day. He came to see the house and discuss the details. At that time we told him want we needed and also asked if he could stop by my mother's home to repair a ceiling light. He fit that into his schedule, which was really great for short notice. He repaired the ceiling light the next day, then came to our house and installed to exterior outlets. One detail that he did that another electrician did not want to do, he installed a separate breaker for the external outlets. All this was done in about 2 hours. We would definitely use Discount Electric again.

We had a 2 stage job and the 2nd phase of this job included elcetrical work for a bonus room adddition, as well as adding a 220 electrical for a clothes dryer. The cables he installed for cable tv, have never worked or hooked up properly. He never returned after we paid him in December for all work. After contacting him in January & February of 2011, he skirtted around coming to complete work and found many excuses inlucing he didn't have the gas money to drive over. The 220 plug in garage has never been wired correctly, and we paid him in full for a job that was never completed. He was consistently not on time and there were always excuses. I still have the written proof of the texts he sent me to prove how difficult he was to work with. I would have to pay him portions up front so he could go to home depot and purchase materials.

On march 24th 2010 I made an advance payment of $500 to Ron Bedford dba ,discount electrical service, to begin work running an electric line to my garage. He dug 3/4's of the necessary ditch, installed a meter base and a fuse box.On march 30th 2010 he came back to finish the job and as I was leaving town for the day and had no reason to believe he would not finish that day I paid him the balance pf $600. He must have left as soon as I was out of sight for no more work was done. From march 30th until today (09/012010) despite many promises to finish the work or refund $600 the work has not been finished nor has a refund been made.
