Affordable Driveways & Patios By Glen

I was in the market for a new driveway so I went down the list of would be contractors in the Nashville area and probably called half a dozen or more. From the moment I first spoke with Glen with Affordable Driveways and Patios I knew this was a very customer oriented company and the Google reviews back that up. I called Glen several times giving him updates on where I was in the scope of my project and when I was ready for him to do the work I called again. Glen said he was booked 2 weeks out and that this project would take 3 or 4 days to complete. He called me the day before to let me know what time he’d be there the next day and he was there with his team on time and ready to work. I had a driveway that was in bad shape and his team made fast work of removing the old and as they would complete removal of some areas his team was quick to have that area cleaned and formed, measured and prepped ensuring proper fall. All the workers were very respectful and the jobsite was kept organized and clear of trash. Glen and team were very communicative of the issues prior to starting the job and talked through what I wanted to see and while working if the guys came across any issue they would ask what direction I wanted to go in. On the 3rd day the guys poured the concrete half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Glen ripped out the old drive, poured gravel, used rebarb, and compacted the gravel all before the pour. They fixed some esthetic issues at my garage and many other small things. At the end of the 3rd day I had a new driveway, new sidewalk, a clean yard, all the forms removed, and an assurance from Glen saying that if I have any issues to let him know. Rarely have I ever felt so comfortable with a process and assured that this man is a man of his word. My driveway experience with Glen and Affordable Driveways blew past all expectations. Glen and his crew did an excellent job. Estimated cost was exactly what I paid and all work was completed ahead of schedule and with expert precision. Glen's crew was very professional, precise, and enjoyable to work with. This was a challenging job in the summer heat and it went great! Glen's handshake deal is one you can count on.

Glen worked through several challenges on our job while still delivering a superior product in the end. One of those challenges resulted from a neighboring construction site crew messed up Glen?s ability to get our job done one day. He sent his crew home early, but returned first thing the next morning? this speaks highly for his crew and his word. Speaking of his crew, not only were they proficient and quick, they were also especially polite and courteous. We had to meet tight, and unusual, requirements for this build. Glen understood what was needed and executed the design with aplomb. The inspector signed off quickly on his first and only visit. Well done, Glen. He used 4000 PSI concrete (more than required by code but results in stronger, longer-lasting finished project) and full-length commercial fibers. When I do work, I like to do it right the first time. Glen used products to meet my demanding requests. All in all I don?t know what more I could ask for. If we do a concrete patio, I will make only one call: Affordable Driveways and Patios by Glen.

they were referred to me by a co-worker whom had some driveway work done by Glen. It turned out good for them so I gave them a call to give a quote. When Glen came out to quote the job I mentioned that I wanted the ground graded before the barn went up so that the barn would not end up too high above the existing driveway. He argued this point with me for some time explaining that he could do it later, after the barn was up from inside the barn. I explained in detail that if it was not leveled before, that the garage would be built level off of the highest point, and that would be too high for my liking. He finally agreed, we agreed on a price, and he told me to call when the existing shed was moved. I called when the shed was moved and he asked when the barn was being built. I told him 4-6 weeks, which is what the barn company told me. He asked that I call him back when we are two weeks out. The barn Co. called and scheduled material drop off for a week away. They said the builder would be out 1-2 weeks after that. I called Glen and told him the two week date had arrived. The materials were dropped the next monday as promised and Glen was nowhere to be found. I called and called and texted and called and called and messaged and called. I knew I had one week and I now had no concrete guy. The saturday before the barn builders were to come, I must have celled them 10 times. No answer, just ignored. In a desperation attempt I called another concrete company. That guy came out, that day... graded the lot and was done in two hours. Glen calls me later that day to tell me he hurt his back and that is why his phone did not work that week. I assumed he did not want to do the work I asked and this was his method of getting what he wanted. Well, i guess he did. He didn't want to work, so he's not working for me. Aside from the massive amounts of stress he put on me, he also cost me a thousand extra dollars in order to get the emergency service to fix when he would not.

Glen came to our home to provide quote and learn about the work we needed. He was very nice and we decided to use his service. To keep this short, I was under a time constraint and he kept promising he would start on our job. It was suppose to be done 2 weeks ago when I returned from being out of town. To this day I have not heard from him. By selecting Glen, my other housing project is total delayed and I may have to wait a year to attempt to complete. I am very dissappointed with this company.

I could not be happier with the patio and steps Affordable Driveways and Patios by Glen poured. He came out on the weekend and set it up. it rained on Monday so he poured it out on Tuesday and didn't ask for a penny until the job was completed and the area cleaned up. The workers were very courteous and did everything I asked as far as setting up the landing and the steps. They made suggestions that were good ones and the overall product was much improved. I would recommend Glen and his company to anyone I know.

Glen and his workers were professional and courteous. They graded and framed the driveway and deck area starting on a Sunday. I had specifications to pour the concrete starting on a Wednesday. They met the schedule as planned. He made every effort to meet my needs with a complex pour in order to route the rain water from varied locations into the direction I specified. Within one month I was able to witness that the sloping and curving of the concrete diverts the water to the back of the property as needed. At this time, the look of the concrete is as expected and has enhanced the look of the property.

We contacted Glen Mitchell of Affordable Driveways early in 2011 to ask him about this crumbling concrete problem. He talked to us once and we set up a meeting at our house. He didn't show for the meeting and then didn't get back in touch with us like he said he would after we called him about missing our meeting. We have recently found out that since it has been several years since the driveway was poured, we are unable to get any compensation or redo of the work. What we are most dissatisfied with is the fact that we have a part of our driveway that was obviously poured with poor quality concrete and that looks terrible and that we will have to have repaired at our own expense. We are also dissatisfied with Glen Mitchell's dishonesty and unwillingness to communicate. We found out a lot more information through a third party than we did from Glen Mitchell himself. The driveway is crumbling supposedly because we used deicer in the winter (and /or used a pressure washer on the driveway). The de-icer container says that it is safe to use except on poor quality concrete. Salt is routinely used on concrete for deicing, such as on highways and other public areas, so why is it that we can't use deicer on our driveway? The part of the driveway that was pre-existing is not crumbling in the least, and we used deicer on it also, so that tells you right there that what we got was poor quality concrete from Affordable Driveways. The concrete used to pour our driveway may be of legal quality but that's as far as it goes. And we were never told not to use any deicer on the driveway. The driveway poses a hazard now since any time there is snow or ice we feel we can't use anything to melt it. The crumbling concrete itself poses a hazard to walk on, no matter what time of year it is.
