BUYER BEWARE !! I purchased a new home from Universal in Wright Farms. I can’t say that I can come up with a single positive experience with them throughout the process. First off the quality of the home is nowhere near the price point. They use the cheapest material build to the minimal standards(sometimes not even that) with the cheapest labor they can find. Many aspects of my home are starting to fall apart in the first year and good luck getting them to respond to any type of warranty work without you borderline harassing them and even the. They won’t respond. The overall business is unprofessional and only care about profits. If you ever bring up an issue you have with your home they completely disregard it if they can’t strong arm their contracted work into repairs. As for the yard, it’s a total joke . They bring in the worst possible dirt full of trash, rocks and debris sprinkle some seed in a couple spots and cal it a day. Not a single person has been able to have a nice lawn without dumping an additional 10+k into sod. Before you look at purchasing a home from Universal I would advise you to knock on any door in any of their neighborhoods and they will tell you the exact same thing I have shared. If I was to do this again I would have never purchased a home from them.

Having built several communities in Wilson countY and Mt Juliet I was completely surprised at the unprofessional manner in which Universal Builders conducted themselves regarding the issue of our back patio roof separating from our house and collapsing on the back patio. Thank goodness me nor my family were on the patio at the time. There definitely would have been serious injuries. I emailed the warranty department(twice) after my wife left several voicemails on their office phone(no callback). We finally received a response back only after contacting the property management company of our community. The response stated that "we sent someone to check it out". The person that was sent "to check it out" did so two weeks prior to Universal responding to our emails and voicemails. The person stated that he represented Universal and would repair the roof and haul the old one away. Universal's email response said that the roof collapsed because of settling. No house settles that much within six years(age of the house). We've had two independent contractors come and take a look at the roof and both stated that the roof was never properly anchored to the frame of the house so it was only a matter of time before it collapsed. The fact that I had to email the property management company to get a response from Universal is a testament to their unprofessionalism. It's really sad the a "family " owned company would treat another hardworking family in this manner. It disheartens me that I dedicated 22 years of my life in the United States Navy fighting for the American way so the the Earhart family can rip off hardworking American families.

Universal Builders and their rep Lee Perkins did a wonderful job installing a new roof to replace storm damage. Lee dealt with my insurance company, Tennessee Farmers, from the outset and helped me to get the settlement I needed and deserved. This alone was a boon to me, because of my greatly busy summer schedule. From the start, Lee was forthcoming, honest, and informative, and never tried to sell me anything I didn't need. My own costs were minimal, to say the least, and Tennessee Farmers Insurance was VERY cooperative all the way. Lee managed the project, having his team on site on time and prepared, and the job was finished when it was promised, and with great integrity. The roof was inspected afterwards, and found to be done well, professionally, and completely. I really can't put into words how completely pleased I was with the work done by Universal Builders. Would I recommend them to you? I give that question a resounding YES!! And a special recommendation would be to ask for Lee Perkins as your rep in dealing with your insurance company. Lee will get you what you deserve, and will not inflate either the work needed or the price, to either you or your insurance company. There a couple hundred roofers in middle Tennessee right now, and making a choice is difficult at best. You cannot go wrong with Universal Builders!
