Katy Arbor Tech

They did everything except stump grinding. They did good work, but the problem was that they came to the door and wanted payment for the job before they had ground the stump. I said I would give them $2000 for the work so far and that they would get the rest after they grind the stump. They convinced me to give them the full amount. He said he would be back in two weeks to grind the stump. He did not show up for 6 weeks. I called them and he said he would call me on the end of September but I never heard a word. I called him that evening to leave us a message. He would just keep saying that he would call us or that he would come, but he would never show up or call when he did not show up. I have not heard anything for some time now.

The owner (Jose) is a little pushy and not well polished. I said I wanted three trees taken down and cut into firewood. Jose then suggested trimming the many other trees in my lot and gave me a good price. However, keeping Jose to his word proved to be a little difficult. He said he would send a crew of 4 to 6 men and do the job the next day and complete the work in one day. Nobody showed on the agreed start day, but did show the next morning. Only two men on the first day, 3 men on the second day and 2 men on the third day. Job ended up taking 3 1/2 days. After the first day, Jose asked if they could stack the cut would at the base of the cut trees "to save time". I told him that "that was not the agreement". He then agreed to stack the wood at the agreed location. I did agree to have his crew leave the large tree shafts if they would cut shaft in to wafers that I could later split. The initial agreement was that he would have the large tree shafts removed from my property. Before the job we agreed that there would be no payment until the entire job was complete. However, late on the second day Jose whined about needing to pay his men and wanted cash. I wrote him a check that night and his men came the next morning and finished things up as promised. They didn't stack the wood very neatly. They didn't pick up all of the wood that could have been stacked, though they did stack 95% of it. They did respect my yard and did not drive the truck on the yard after it rained. The men worked their tails off. Jose does not participate with much of the work except for the stump grinding. Jose pushes his men very hard and I felt bad for them in the 90+ degree heat and no shade. I slipped the men some $20s at the end of the first two days of work. If you choose to use Katy, I recommend that get the job on paper before work starts, be prepared for the job to slip time wise, be prepared for Jose to push you so he can do the job his way.

We had wind damaged trees. Katy Arbor Tech was in the neighborhood. They had a nice truck, men with "Arborist" on their shirts cutting trees, theboss/sales person sounded professional. They quoted $2900 to include trimming trees and removing one tree. They also included stump grinding the tree they removed and one other tree that was removed a few years ago. Half way through the job the boss asked me to pay him. I told him that I would give him a check when the project was completed. He begged and pleaded that he had to pay the men . He assured me that he would finish the job "tomorrow". He seemed liked a good guy, so I paid him. Never saw them again. He had given me his business card but there is only a phone number. No address or last name. Just the name Katy Arbor Tech, a phone number and the bosses name -Jose'. It also says "Boned and Insured". When I call the number it immediately goes to voice mail. I leave a message but never get a call back. I cleaned up the rest of the yard myself. I got a quote to have someone else grind the stump for $900.00. I see the Katy Arbor Tech truck on the road. Watch out. This guy is bad news!
