It was an horrific experience. He padded the bill in places sometimes 3 times the actual cost. For example said he painted walls half way down to the paneling 2 coats. This did not happen because we had wallpaper on top half. Charged 3 times the cost of the vinyl flooring. I got the exact price from McCools Flooring. By the way McCools Flooring is a very reliable company. We have done a lot of business with them. We did not want him to replace the vinyl flooring because it was glued down and no way water could have got under it. He said he checked with our insurance adjuster and he agreed that it needed to come up and the insurance would cover the cost. Our insurance adjuster told Rick that he did not think it was necessary to replace the flooring. Again thiis was another lie. We had our insurance adjuster go over the bill with us. He took the information with him and in the end we only owed approximately $800.00 more. We called Rick and he came out and we showed him the information and he said he needed time to check this out. It had actually been 72 days since the start of this process. In this time he only showed up 3 times. Never once did he check to see that the basement was done right. To this day they never finished. I have actually done some of the work myself. My husband has had to cut some of the quarterround to make it fit. When they took this off they did not pay attention to where it went. Very shotty work. I told Rick that it had been 72 days from when he had first started contracting the work out. He said oh no it had not been that long. We proved to him that it had been. He also had contracted to have the guttering replaced that had been damaged by the tree falling on it. The gutters themselves are ok but he had his son and the other helper put leaf guards on them. They are now all stopped up and running over. We are going to have to have someone come and clean the gutters and put some other type of leaf guards on them. My husband installed leaf guards on all the gutters some years ago and they always worked fine. He cannoit do this now because of knee replacements. Rick kept arguing that he needed time to check all this out and he would get back with us. I then told him that we had other obligations that we needed to take care of and that we would just go ahead and call a lawyer or turn it over to the attorney general. He then promptly said okay go ahead and write me the check for the $800.00 and call it even. I know if someone owed me $10,000.00 I would in no way settle for the $800.00. He is nothing but a thief. Would never recommend him to anyone. I know of other people that have had bad experiences with this company. Please warn people to think twice before using Ricks Roofing.
