The service guy came and we told him what all the problem were . He said that the only problem he found was that my plumbing was old but nothing else. During the week after he left, the tolet was still leaking, and I discovered that underneath my bathroom sink was a leak and it was evident it had been there a while and he missed it. I had to hire someone else

After attempting to get service through my home warrantly company (AHS) and being told by multiple companies that they wouldn't even consider arriving until the middle of the following week, I called Mr. Rooter after seeing the reviews on AL. Mr. Rooter also had a coupon available for AL customers. The plumber arrived within and hour of my call and was able to repair/replace the pipe within 30-45 minutes of arrival. Iit cost considerably more than if I had gone with a company recommended by my home warranty company, but considering how fast they were able to get the job done, it was worth it.

Our area is notorious for pinhole leaks. For years we have repaired leak after leak and waited for the next one. Finally, Mr. Rooter convinced us to replace the pipes in the back of the house which is where the leaks have been concentrated. We hated to spend the money but I trusted Bob's assessment and didn't feel like he was trying to take advantage of the situation. (How often can you say something like that??) Actually, the price was reasonable considering all the work Bob did. The water was off all day and I have three young children but Bob made it as easy on me as possible. He worked so hard with only one break for lunch and was here for over 12 hours. We had to get tiling replaced before he could finish the job and when he returned a couple weeks later my kids were so excited. Bob is apparently new to the company and as far as I can tell he is an excellent addition. If (when) we need our next plumbing job done I will be calling and requesting Bob. Hopefully he won't be too busy with other customers requesting him!

The technician showed up, on time, & did the initial inspection. Told me what had to be done & what it would cost. The water heater is in the attic, so it took two men to haul the new water heater up & the old one down. The mounting, wiring & plumbing had to be completely redone. A thicker piece of plywood was cut & securly fastened to the ceiling joists, the catch pan was redone, with a dedicated drain, separate from the secondary water heater & A/C catch pan drains, A new shut-off valve was installed & the pipes redone to accommodate the larger replacement water heater.. The hard-wiring was replaced with a outlet, with breaker, to bring THAT up to code. The water system was flushed & the tech stayed around to ensure that everything worked as designed & there were no leaks. Mr Rooter called several days later, to check if things were satisfactory. My wife ran over the clean-out on the sewer, with the lawnmower. The tech removed the broken pieces & fixed the clean-out so I could install a longer piece of PVC pipe, so it is tall enough to be seen.
Description of Work: The previous owner had installed the water heater himself. The Mr Rooter personnel installed the replacement water heater, according to current local codes. The reason the price was so high, was the previous heater was NOT installed to ANY codes. The wiring had to be redone, the old water heater was installed on a substandard pan, mounted on a piece of 1/4" plywood. The Mr Rooter personnel (2 men) had to completely re-do the installation, requiring the most of one day, & part of the next. They also repaired a broken clean-out on my sewer...at no additional charge.

Response from Mr Rooter Plumbing of Memphis
We are sorry this customer was not happy. Without looking at the plumbing issue, it is very difficult to give a price over the phone. This is why we do not charge to come out and to see exactly what is going on. Once we diagnose the issue a customer is having, we can give an exact set price, as opposed to an hourly rate, before we start any work.

I have great experience with them. There was something wrong with the drain so he came out to check and found something glued into our pipe and that was causing the blockage and he clean out the drain but prior to that he was outside till he came out that night and had to work in the dark with a lantern and he fixed the problem. I thought they had the best customer service. They are responsive because they called and the person was like probably an hour away from where they were and still came out to take of the service in the evening and it was dark. He called us a couple of times for service and update.

I called Mr Rooter late in the afternoon to arrange for a plumber to clear a toilet drain. Spoke with Anne in the office -- a delightful and helpful person who arranged for a plumber to come to the house early that very evening. Mr Rooter is truly a 24/7 responder, and charges by the job, not by the time of day or day of the week! Bob arrived as scheduled, donned "booties" to protect my floors, and got right to work. He determined the problem to be an old, poorly-flushing toilet, and assured me that a new toilet would solve the stoppage issues. Bob went over repair options, including installation of a new, customer-supplied toilet, which was the option I chose. Bob arrived on time the next day, removed the old toilet, installed the new one, cleaned-up the work area, and was finished within an hour or so. Bob was a real pro -- friendly, very efficient, and happily allowed me to watch him work. The new toilet fixed the problem, as advertised. As an aside, I forgot to present my $30 Angie's List coupon as I paid the bill. I called the next day to see if Mr Rooter would still honor the coupon after the fact, and Andy, the manager, credited the amount to my credit card. Now that's professional service!

This was a misunderstanding between this customer and our company. We have done work for this customer but at different locations. Sometimes drain lines can be tricky and can take longer than expected, even if we have cleared the line before. This is why we charge by the job and not by the hour, which we have found saves the customer money. Plus, we give up-front pricing before any work is performed so you know exactly what it is going to cost.

I can't say enough good things about this company; they are truly an excellent company that goes above and beyond for customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: I own/ manage 8 rental properties in Midtown Memphis. If you know midtown, you know plumbing issues are pretty common in the older homes in this area. I've used them for small jobs like installing a garbage disposal to large jobs like replacing a sewer line. I have never been disappointed in the 5 years and over 30 jobs they have done for me. The plumbers are professional, honest, hard workers. The company guarantees their work and has come out free of charge and resolved any issues I've had after the initial repair, which was only 2 or 3 instances.

I was facing the nightmare scenario of a failed cast iron pipe under a slab. After two other estimates that contemplated tearing up floors clear across the house, Mr. Rooter came up with a solution (conformed to code) that required only tearing up the floor in the laundry room. Jeff Bolding managed the job and was refreshingly honest, direct and extremely efficient. He gave me a great estimate, both of the time involved and the cost, and then fulfilled that estimate completely. The work was done promptly and well. The workers treated my property as if it were their own, protecting the floors and furniture as they did the messy work. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. They more than fulfilled my expectations.

The kitchen sink faucet had been dripping. My knee surgery having healed up enough to let me get down to under-sink level, I decided it was time to replace the faulty washer or O-ring in the faucet. When I went to close the shut-off valves, I learned that the cabinet installers didn't think I'd ever have to turn that handle -- the wall of the under-sink module was too close to the valve. I needed to cut a trench for the handle to run through. I got out my toolkit, Dremel-sawed a groove around the area to be dug out, then carefully went after that space with hammer and chisel. Not quite carefully enough, as I learned when the shut-off valve started leaking water. One thing I learned long ago is, when it's time to shut off the house water supply, it's time to call in a professional. That time had arrived, so I shut off the house supply, picked this likely looking plumbing firm from Angie's List, and dialed. This was about 5:00 PM on a Friday, but Kevin Britt came out promptly, tightened down the loosened packing nut in the shut-off valve (so I could turn on the house supply), and quoted me their price to "rebuild the faucet." It seemed pretty pricey for a washer or O-ring, but as long as he was already out here I told him to go ahead. He didn't have the part on hand but would go get it first thing in the morning. That was fine with me, because at least I had water even though that faucet was still drippy. At 7:05 AM the next morning I got a call from their dispatcher that Kevin would be at my door in about half an hour. He was, even though we'd had some icy weather overnight. Kevin went right to work and in less than a half-hour I had a working, non-leaky faucet. Kevin told me they make a point of using manufacturer-made parts (this was a Delta faucet), because they'd had too much experience with failure in off-brand replacements. While I watched him work I got the real lesson -- there's a lot more to a single-handle faucet than a washer or O-ring. I'm so glad I'd not even gotten to the part where you remove the handle to get to the innards. That step alone required a special tool, but then there was the three-step procedure to open up the valve, and the other special tool to remove more than a dozen pieces, some of them pretty small. There's entirely too much technology in a kitchen faucet these days, but Kevin was in command of it.

While putting some Christmas decorations back in the attic on New Years Eve, I noticed the drain pan below one of our water heaters was about 75% full. After inspecting the tank, we noticed a small leak in the back of the unit, coming out of the seam of the exterior metal. Our water heaters were original with the house and a part of an inefficient two unit system that can not have the tanks separated out if one should become inoperative. Last year, we experienced a burst instant hot water heater under our kitchen sink which resulted in a house flood with lots of monetary damage and restoration. We did not want to take a chance on any similar occurrence and decided it would be worth the investment of having a professional coming out to look at the leak. Being around 8pm on New Years Eve, we expected to have to pay out the nose for a service call (if we could get anyone to come at all). My wife went to Angie's List and sought out a 24/7 plumber with good reviews. We settled on Mr. Rooter. She called the number and talked to a "live person" immediately. We were told that a technician was on-call and was at another job at the moment. We would be notified as soon as he was finished and ready for us. We received a call within the hour that the technician was traveling to our home and he arrived about 20 minutes after that. Kevin (the Mr. Rooter technician) was very professional and courteous from the time he arrived at our front door. He initially unrolled his own door mat to wipe his feet and then put on shoe covers as to not track in any of the wet weather into our house. Kevin took a look at the leak and started to talk about how he could fix the problem while still allowing us to have hot water. He did say what we thought all along, which was that a water heater replacement would eventually be needed. Kevin was at our house for at least two hours. The charge for stopping the leak and setting up our system for hot water from one tank was VERY reasonable, especially for late night on New Year's Eve. The short story is that Kevin was very detailed in our options (one-to-one replacement, moving to a high-efficiency one tank unit or going tankless). He went over pricing and benefits of each. We decided on the H.E. one tank heater (which gave the same BTU's as our previous 2-tank system). He and another tech came back by a few days later at our request because my wife worked from home on that day. She said they called ahead to make sure the appointment time was still good and they arrived promptly when they said they would. The service took a few hours to perform and involved draining and removing our old tanks from the 3rd story attic. Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Rooter to anyone for any plumbing services. They are competitively priced, courteous and prompt. Although a national company, the Memphis franchise on Summer Ave. has been around for years and seems to keep it's standards high and their technicians friendly and knowledgeable.

I have an early 50s house with original plumbing and laundry center in my kitchen. I started my laundry this morning and heard water draining to the kitchen floor. Water was pouring from under the sink and up from the sink drains. The kitchen line was backed up. I called Mr Rooter at 11:00 and had a plumber by noon. Marcus cleaned the kitchen line with a giant auger to remove the clog. He also noticed the galvanized drain and trap were rusted out and leaking. In addition, a prior owner had made a rats nest of plumbing under the sink and some of it was leaking as well. He replaced all of the galvanized drains under the sink with PVC and cleaned up the rats nest. He also replaced the leaky galvanized lines in the master bathroom. Fortunately it did not require any demolition. Marcus and Mr Rooter were friendly, professional and hard working. I feel like they went above and beyond to fix my plumbing rather than patch or band-aid over them. I feel like the price paid was very reasonable for emergency services and quality of work.

They scheduled the appointment for the same day that I called & for a time frame that was after work. The plumber showed up about mid-window. The 1st thing he did was put shoe covers on so that he wouldn't track anything into the house. After I told him what happened he told me what he was going to try 1st & how much it would be, then if that didn't work he told me what he would have to do & how much that would cost. Fortunately it was very simple for him & he had it cleared out very quickly. Also, he noticed that my handle didn't come back up on its own when the toilet was flushed & he fixed that without my even saying anything about it. He tested the toilet not only by flushing it empty but also by putting some paper in to make sure there was no obstruction still lodged in the pipe. He was extremely nice & professional & thorough. I can't comment on the price because I didn't check around. I had used this company before & just called them, so I don't know how their price compares.

We called after seven at night and they came within a couple of hours. The serviceman told us that he would have to run a camera up in the pipe so he would have to return the next day. They came out early the next day and Jeff, the plumbing professional, diagnosed our problem. We did have a clog, but also a broken pipe at the base of the house. He cleared the clog and gave us an estimate for the pipe repair. The estimate was higher than we paid ( 450.00) because he thought he would have to break up some concrete. Jeff started right away and was able to repair the pipe without breaking up concrete, saving us that 450.00! Jeff was very professional..he was nice, kept us informed, correct in his diagnosis, repaired the problem in a timely manner, and saved us money!!! We always have plumbing issues due to an aging house with tons of trees. I would not hesitate to call them again or refer them to my friends. Thank you Jeff!
