After they left( WITHOUT mopping the kitchen floors, cleaning the cupboard fronts, cleaning the kitchen table, cleaning the laundry room, leaving haze on bathroom counters, NOT cleaning my garden tub OR scrub the master shower stall or mop floors in master bath) I cried.....I was just at my son's apartment cleaning it for him while he was out of town for a week, and was looking forward to coming home to a nice spotless home myself, but instead was left just feeling very overwhelmed. I would pay MORE to have the entire house cleaned, I just want it done , and done well!!! I actually used to clean homes when I was younger for a living for awhile, and I keep my house very clean as it is, so it really ticks me off that I am actually paying people to come into my already pretty clean home, to have them make it dirtier upon them leaving. I put up w/ it for too long as it was just easier to pretend/hope it would get better, but it never did. I did write an email to Arminda explaining what had happened and sent her photos as well and did tell her I did not want anybody coming back to 're-clean' my home. The following week I got a call from someone other than her reminding me of my next cleaning. I told the person I did not want anybody coming to my home anymore and to cancel my service. She asked why, and I told her. I feel like I should have been given my $ back seeing as I spent the next 5 hours or so after they left that Friday re-cleaning stuff myself----in tears.
Description of Work: I started using Merry Maids in approx. May/June of 2009 because I had just had a brain tumor removed, and was unable to keep the house up to my standards due to the fact I couldn't do alot of bending and lifting for awhile afterwards. I had already hired another company to do services prior to surgery, but had to let them go a couple weeks after surgery as they were not doing what I was paying them for( two friends pointed out stuff that I was unable to get to myself to see), and was tired of having to feel like I had to call the company to tell them what wasn't done. SO, after I met w/ the manager of Merry Maids at my house, I decided on what package I wanted and she let me know the cost. I think at first I had them come once a week, and then after sometime I knocked it down to every other week as I was able to physically take up more of the slack. So I am clear, I do not expect anybody to be 100 percent perfect all the time, BUT I do expect some consistency and some knowledge of how to clean when I am paying for a service. From the git- go service was all over the place. The very first week they came it was good, and then it slowly deteriorated. I had a team that would come out at first and then that dwindled down to one person, whom although nice, was not able to do my whole house, the way it needed to be done, in the time frame they allot them to. I have a two story 5000+ square ft. house, and at first, I was having them do all of it. After my son moved out, the upstairs didn't need to be cleaned as much, as nobody was up there, so I just paid for the downsatirs to be cleaned. I don't think they ever touched my laundry room. About half the time the bathroom fixtures and sink and counter tops would end up w/ a white haze left on them. I spent many hours cleaning up AFTER them. There were several occasions when they were not showing up when they said they would be here. I would get a call the day before from Arminda reminding me that tomorrow they were coming to clean, but I would ALWAYS have to prompt her to tell me when they would be here. Very annoying when you need to know when you need to be out of someones way to clean... The last straw was this past month when I was hosting some company here for a week, and had booked a TEAM of maids to come clean my entire house(deep clean) on a Friday before there weekend arrival. I called the week before to arrange it, and specifically asked for a team and how long and what time they were coming for. I was told that a team would be here between 9-11am and would be here for apprx. 6 hours Arminda called on Thursday to do her usual 'reminder' , and, when I asked, she told me they would be here closer to 10am. I had to leave by 10;30, so I called the office when nobody was there at 10:30 and told them where I put the key; she said they were on their way. I got home at 5PM, and there were two ladies(one regular one) in my house. I asked the regular cleaning lady , who was in my bathroom, how long they'd been there, and she said she got there at noon-by herself and had been cleaning the entire time up until approx. 45 minutes prior to me coming home when this other woman arrived. They were not even 1/2 way done. To spare all of the issues, I am just going too paint this picture for you: In the next 1 hour , they thought they could clean 1/2 my house, do it well (including my large kitchen and my master bath), mop and be done apparently, because thats what they did! I was in the guest room exhausted and waiting for them to finish my bedroom so I could go back there, when the woman I did not know knocked on door and asked me how to clean my refrigerator doors, because what she was using(PLEDGE) was not working(duh). I came out and showed both of them the product I use and how to use it, but because they had used a couple different things of their own already , the doors(Stainless) looked like h***. In fact, the one regular woman even made a comment to me that she didn't know they were stainless!
