They installed a very beautiful, decorative cedar fence in our backyard. I asked for an arched shaped gate and they installed a beautiful one. The fence is excellent quality.

Very personable salesperson, I made a selection and gave him the date needed for completion, luckily I gave myself a 4 week leeway beyond that date, giving them several months to finish the job. We discussed the color, to match preexisting iron work. Total silence for weeks. Finally got a call that he had a death in the family, fine, understandable. He came out with installer and did final measurements. Total silence for several more weeks.. I came home one afternoon to find a gentleman scratching his head and looking at a color wheel. He was sent to match the color, but he was not told what he was matching the color to! No one had called me, it was total happenstance that I came while he was there. I picked the chip that was closest to the iron rail in the front. Silence... My drop dead date (not the one I told them) was looming and I called in a panic. Apparently the fence was fabricated and just sitting there. The salesperson said, I didn't know you had changed your mind and were matching the house. I didn't! They brought the fence a few days later, a completely different color and a design feature that I had ordered was not there.. I was so upset, after much gnashing of teeth, I decided that I could live with the color rather than starting over and without the additional design element.Many of the welds are clumsy and sloppy. I have asked (previously promised) repeatedly for the touch up paint, still no paint. I wanted to give a C minus, and should probably have given a D... Just a complete comedy of errors!!

Memphis Fence installed my vinyl coated chain link fence initially in 1995. Over the years due to weather (tornadoes, high winds, animals, etc) several posts were leaning backwards and several areas needed replacement. I was given a date for repairs and that morning the driver called me to let me know he was on the way (which I appreciated). The three man crew arrived right on time and immediately began the work. The supervisor went over everything with me to ensure that what they were doing is exactly what I had agreed to. The crew was fast, efficient, professional and polite. I should mention they were doing the repair work on an uneven, wooded surface. They finished well before the day was out and the supervisor had me check all their work to make certain I was happy with the results.

They were responsive at first, visiting our home to measure for the fence. Three weeks later we received an estimate via email. This estimate was extremely high, and was a barely legible scan of a poorly detailed handwritten note. I called to confirm the price. Next we requested an estimate from a competitor. The estimate was 80% less expensive for the same work.

The company was very slow in giving me an estimate. The salesperson was difficult to catch in the office. The final estimate was much higher than the one from the company which I chose to do the work.

The estimator was very nice and personable, and the price seemed reasonable so we decided to go with this company. After putting down the deposit, the communication wasn't the best-- they sent letters/postcard to the wrong address and they never called to give us a date that the work would be completed (and when I called it took a week and several phone calls to hear back from them). A few weeks after we sent in the deposit, we noticed a guy in the backyard-- when we went to talk to him, he told us that he was from the utility company to mark various lines and "didn't our fence company warn us". Well, a week or so later, we received a postcard letting us know that we should expect the utility companies to come out and mark the property. But in the end, the fence looks good!

They were so professional. The estimator came out and measured, then drew a diagram with different pricing and design featuers. It was very thorough, I interviewed two other companies one was comparable but not nearly as thorough and the third sent someone who wasn't qualified to make an estimate. I was really pleased with Memphis, they followed proper procedure and called the city and the underground people before they started digging. It looks excellent. The neighbors even all love it.

At first it went great, they got out to the house immediately and quoted me a price for both cedar and pine, the man (the contractor I believe) was very nice and punctual. After I acquired the proper permit and information, I confirmed the go ahead on the cedar fence. They came back out to give us a new estimate to include a few extra feet of fencing to get us into a better price point. From there it went south. The same contractor handling our account showed up late or not at all to bring us our contract, stating once that he was sorry his wife "forced him to take her to breakfast". (I don't really care, please be more professional.) I also thought he was putting us in a better price point, yet adding a few extra feet shot our cost up, I thought, a little high. Also, we were told they could not come out for 30 days because of work load (not a big deal, there was a big storm just before all this so I totally understood), but they could put a temporary up for us until then, so we would have an enclosure for our dogs. No one ever came with the temporary fence. I tried to talk to the contractor we were dealing with and always got his voicemail with no call backs. He also spoke to my husband once and said he was on his way to our house to drop off our contract so I could send in the deposit. The contract wasn't there when I got home, or the next day, or the next. My husband called to find out what was going on and the contractor said "he just totally forgot." (How does one just totally forget when they just said they were on their way to your house?) Eventually (waiting time ended up being less than 30 days, thank goodness), 2 workers (not the contractor we were dealing with) from MFC did finally show up and got the fence up in 3 days, which was nice. The fence looks great and they did minimal damage to any part of the yard they had to walk on or put equipment on. These men were polite to me and walked me through what they were doing. I got a good chuckle when one of the men asked if I wanted the temporary fence put up while the posts were setting for the next 2 days. (No, I needed the temporary a month ago!) I politely told him it wouldn't be necessary. We are definitely enjoying our fence, but I still have not received a bill for the rest of the amount, which I am going to send a check off anyway, because I know better. I really wish the contractor guy we had to deal with was more professional. I don't care if we were spending $20 or $2000, you should take care of your customers. Everyone has off days, but this guy just seemed spacey. I was very unimpressed with him and that reflects badly upon MFC. I honestly would not use them again because of this. Their price was a little steep, especially for a job that had no tear down and haul away. I do understand lumber is expensive right now. The workers were fantastic and did an excellent job, so if I could rate them separately I would give them an "A", but the contractor guy would definitely get an "F", which unfortunately is why MFC got such a bad rating. This company has a reputation of doing good work, which is why I went with them from word of mouth. But I don?t think I will have much to say about them if someone asks me.
