Services we offer

Due to scheduling issues, we currently are mostly working on cabinet re-dos, the most common one being a factory-like painted finish in an off white. We draw in the dark lines in the grooves and can do an overall antique type glaze. We clear coat in the shine that the customer wants which is most commonly a satin finish. Some glazes on cabinets are basically faux finishes. We still do these and kids murals when we can schedule them. We offer limited basic interior painting.

bout The work is superb. I have a very large kitchen with lots of cabinetry. The sub-standard thermafoil job had started to lift, peel, and tare. The paint on the boxes was also peeling in heavily used areas. I was quoted over $10,000 dollars by one of the big box stores to reface with a thermafoil like product (just the kitchen). My cabinets were not in such a bad shape that I wanted to spend that much plus I the flexibility of being able to change the color with paint. Bobby and Kimberly did a wonderful job. The cabinet finish is sleek and shines as if foil covered. I stayed home with them the first day but after that I would let them in and they would lock up when finished. They were very careful to protect my floors and counters and tried there best to keep the dust down. I would definitely recommend them and will be hiring them to paint several rooms as soon as they are available.
Description of Work: Removed thermal foil from cabinets and drawers in kitchen and master bath and repaint boxes and doors.

Bobby Holmes and Kimberly did an extraordinary job. They sanded and stained and primed and painted. They were meticulous. Bobby is a real perfectionist and will do whatever it takes to make something look great. They brought us a number of swatches of paint to make sure we picked the right color for us. When we changed our minds, he gladly showed us more colors until we were happy with our decision. They were reliable, friendly and surpassed our expectations. The house is about 40 years old and had an old garbage disposer in the kitchen. We wanted it removed and was told by others to hire an electrician to get it removed. Bobby and Kimberly helped us remove both the disposer and the old oven in order to save us some money. Bobby was very receptive to comments and changes and periodically sent us texts with pictures of how the projects were progressing. We will definitely use him again. As a matter of fact, we are lining up other jobs for him to do already!

Bobby Holmes is an artistic genius! My kitchen cabinets had about 13 years of wear 'n tear (knicks, scratches, dirt, etc.). Bobby and his assistant were able to restore them to almost new. Bobby is very detailed-oriented and takes great pride in his work. He was very prompt, professional, and did exactly what he said he would do. The best part is his services were very affordable...much more so than having my cabinets completely replaced. I will be using him again in the near future for some additional projects.

Bobby Holmes brings his artist's eye to what others might consider a routine painting and refinishing job. He worked extra hard to match and maximize the richness and shine of the stains, and he had secret methods to make the damaged wood look new and very natural again. He's coming back to refinish our kitchen island. Very reasonable prices for excellent work.

The quality of painting / topcoat was good and the end product looks good. Bobby is a good painter. However, he needs to hire more help / assistants to complete the projects on schedule.

Thank you for your patience [member name removed]. I am working on that, it was unexpected that I had so little help and I was afraid to hire without deeper knowledge of whom I was to bring over.

This was a fun project for a great customer. We experimented with colors till we got what they liked. Our charge was for labor, $2400.00. The additional costs were for adding the trim, which ran about 350.00, it is very high grade material not found at the Big Box stores. We sent a friend to do this but were there working and to help if called upon, it was oak crown plus some nice rope trim. We added 300.00 to do the hidden hinges, having the cup hole drilling done by a local shop we trust---and they provided the hidden hinges and screws, we did the installation which included leveling All in all, materials were not especially expensive, but those were good quality and we made a custom very low sheen finish by mixing flat with satin high performance waterbased clear, which was the only thing we sprayed inside after covering everything up. All in all, the result is an enduring decorative look for the same price as a granite countertop or some Very cheap replacement cabinets. It was a pretty long drive there with the major prepper driving from Arkansas to Oakland, but it went well, but it did take about 8-9 business days to complete, tweak, and clean up. We provided a 5 year touch up and trouble shoot warranty, meaning that if there is trouble we will touch up, and of course we would do this even if they accidentally scratch it, but such a case there might be a trip charge. We also assisted them in modifying the mantle to blend in, but did no labor other than just to demonstrate. I am looking forward to seeing how things look once the backsplash and wall paint are finished.

Description of Work: Rather than reface or replace kitchen cabinets they spray painted my cabinets. They did a very professional job and took a lot of pride in the outcome - did not hurry through the process and was very concerned with the quality of their work. I felt there was great value in price and work product. Would definitively

Bobby did an outstanding job on all the projects. I'm amazed how well he can visualize what you want and he also is very creative and comes up with great ideas. His "crackle" finish on our bathroom cabinets gives them an antique look while still looking brand new. The accents on the kitchen cabinets brought out the details on each cabinet. His textured finishing on walls is gorgeous as well as his washed paint looks. He is very personable, very reasonably priced, and does what he says he will do. Very happy and will use him again. Thank you.
Description of Work: Completely restored all of our master bathroom cabinets which were a dingy dark brown color to a lighter antique color. Accented all of our kitchen cabinets which brought out definition to the details of the cabinets. Performed a textured finish to the walls of one of our bathrooms downstairs. Completed a washed painted finish to one of our entry halls. Stained a new custom made cedar mantle over our fireplace.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I wanted to point out that this is the second home of yours, that I have had the pleasure of working on. I am guessing it was around 2000, or even earlier, that you had me paint the kitchen cabinets in your old home. I also painted a little bench for you that matched your custom black distressed furniture.I am looking forward to any additional projects in the years to come. Thanks again....Bobby.

Painting was scheduled - painter arrived on time The cabinet doors were removed and taken to an off site location for prepping Hung cabinets and base cabinets were cleaned, sanded, and prepped The painting involved several steps to get the desired result; painter finished in a timely fashion Once finished, new hardware and bumpers were placed on the doors and drawers The kitchen was left clean and the cabinets are beautiful
Description of Work: EXCELLENT WORK! I knew what I wanted, but didn't quite know how to verbalize it. Bobby Holmes understood me and gave me the exact finish I wanted on my cabinets. The cabinets are cream-colored with an old-world, crackled finish. A brownish accent paint highlights the crevices of the crackle and the edges of the cabinets. He secured the kitchen area to keep the rest of my house protected while he cleaned, sanded, and prepped my cabinets. The outcome was exactly what I wanted. The work was done in a timely manner and touch ups were done at no additional charge when there was a little damage done during the installation of granite counter tops. I recommend Home ReNewal Painting without reservation. The picture on Angie's list is of my cabinets.

Awful. Did not prep properly. Paint runs. I had to run behind the painter saying "it's running, it's running". Didn't put any of the doors back on properly. Did do a nice job on painting the cabinet drawers but not the walls. Put the hardware back on wrong. Didn't use a template to redrill the door pull holes. Some of them were high, some were low, some were left, some right. Painted right over the computer and phone wires. Was always adding on money needs, such as a screwdriver, extra paint etc. Didn't paint the trim work. Sanded some areas of the wall after painting and it is dull. Never use this man.

Response from Home ReNewal Painting & Cabinet Refinishing
Hello- This is Bobby who painted this very out-dated kitchen from the 1950s' which was completly knotty pine on the walls, the cabinet doors, the furdown, etc. I primed it with a stainblocking primer and painted it with the paint provided, it was the very best Sherwin Williams, if I recall. This complaint was lodged a year after we completed the work. These cabinets use outdated hinges etc. We reinstalled them as agreed in the same holes they were in and did use a template for the new holes. If some are off it may be because we leveled to the door not to how it had been previously hung but we will gladly correct any imperfections such as a run or two on a wall or elsewhere. It is customary to paint a short section of wiring on a wall the same color to make it blend in. We can't remove phone company wires and then reinstall them. I have never seen that as a complaint before in my 20 years of business. We stand by the work. It was warrantied for 5 years against defects. We have not been contacted. The number is 901-380-5454. We will gladly remedy ANY legitimate complaints without upset. We can't with a coat of paint convert a 50 year old kitchen into a new modern one with a coat of paint though. We recall how happy the customer was. Not sure about the screwdriver complaint. Not sure about the extra paint needed. We will glady provide many other customers names and addresses to prospective customers. Additional information, the address given is not the address where we worked. Apparently the customer sold that house and moved to another house. Also note that the price is both the knotty pine cabinets and the knotty pine walls, doors, and a window. In some places they had removed parts of cabinets and we had to fill them in to make them look right. There was one area of ragged wood hidden by an appliance or something on the countertop. There was new trim for the room brought over by a carpenter and piled in the garage but not installed, we were to paint only and we did prime it and paint it for I think, $45.00,which is part of the complaint about asking for extra money------ we did do extra work including adding a clear coat on the cabinets for an additional charge. We do not ever just add charges without the customer being involved and approving it. The runs she is talking about was a "one moment thing not a continuous process"--we sprayed the walls with a white tinted shellac to block the tannins which could bleed through after our extensive sanding. I have photos of the priming and the heavy filling of dings and bumps and knotholes. We had put too much alcohol thinner in one cup-gun batch and it created some runs, but the shellac primer dried in a few minutes and we sanded it back down. I think this complaint is really a case of sourgrapes long after the fact. I do know that a temporary employee who helped me on that job knew the customer from outside of this job. We do ask for several small payments as we do the work especially if we are picking up materials for reimbursement. The fact of the matter is the house did sell. They probably should have done a kitchen remodel, but the funds simply were not there, I simply cleaned it up and made it look cleaner--it was a quick fix for peeling and gummy old cabinets and walls. The room was very dated: 2015-1951= 64 years of grime and wear and tear. We generally get a small deposit to put them on the calender and then we suggest they pay in 3 payments but we are flexible so long as the progress matches the payments and that all seem satisfied. Had this customer really been unhappy and had the work inhibited the sale of their home, they would have given me a call and I would have gladly fixed whatever if there was one. I do know that the old hardware was not to be replaced and that the customer said she was going to take off each door and drawer and repaint the hardware --we had used a stainless steel paint, I am not sure what they used, but painting hardware is not warranted but we do if from time to time if asked. Taking off the doors and redoing the hardware could be huge. Maybe we carried off the screw driver, I don't know. These old cabinets require a thin flathead screw driver which is not commonly found in stores today, but a butter knife will take out most of them if you ever have to do this.
