They have the same technicians all of the time so there is not big a turnover with technicians. They are very responsive and will come out at any time. The nights or weekends were no extra charge. They are very good and very knowledgeable.

I exchanged emails with Mike Wilson at Greenway regarding my heating issue (heat did not work in my master bedroom). Mike was very responsive and helpful. I first asked if there were any items I could check before requesting service and he promptly responded with a list of easy items to check. Once it was determined that I could not fix/diagnose the problem he had their scheduler call me right away to schedule a visit. The scheduler was very courteous and professional and fit me into their schedule on a Saturday and ndash; same day it was determined I could not fix the problem- fantastic! Tech (Alan?) came out on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, AND fixed it at the same time (had part needed on his truck). The Tech was very courteous and professional. All service experiences should go this smoothly!

They were sent by our home warranty company and they took care of the problem. They are owned by another provider and that company will send Greenway out. Greenway is a subsidiary for that company. They are great. They schedule an appointment. If they say that they would be out here within 4 hours and if they are on another job, they call you the minute they finish the other job. If they are held up on that job and if they found something serious than they thought, they will call you and tell you that too. They will also give you the option of waiting that day. If it's something urgent like if it's 20 degrees outside and your heat goes out, they send somebody right out. They send somebody right out for your refrigerators too. The garage door opener wasn't exactly an emergency. I would use their services in the future too.

A Greenway repairman came to look at our Heating/AC units and determined that a circuit panel needed to be replaced. He ordered the parts and about 4 days later returned to make the repairs. It didn't take long for him to install the parts and afterward explained the work he had done.
Description of Work: The repairman replaced a circuit panel on both of our Heating/AC units. We have a unit that heats & cools the upstairs and one that heats & cools the downstairs.

I think they are fair, but I have to look around some more. I have only used them for 7 or 8 years now. I need to replace my AC unit. They have always been good and very responsive. That's what I like about them. It's terrible in the summer in the south and they really do get here as quickly as they can. They always wear little booties. I would give them an excellent grade. I spent a little over $200 for the last service. The Freon is leaking somewhere, which is why I have to look at getting a new one. I think it's an important thing if you show up when you say you would because sometimes you need to take off work to wait on them. They are always good about calling and they call 30 minutes ahead of time. So, you can come home from work and meet them and then go back. They have always been fair, price wise.
Description of Work: I have used Greenway Home Services for my heating and air conditioning work. Their last visit to my house was towards the end of July to have some Freon put in my central cooling system.

I was very disappointed with them. They took a long time to see what was wrong and then they asked us to buy a new air conditioner. They were not even interested in repairing the device. I then called another guy who is an expert in air conditioning. He said that there was a part that was broken which we don't get anymore. He took out the old part and rebuilt it. He made the air conditioner to work. He also cleaned up the device for us and it worked fine. I would rate Greenway low because if I had gone with them, it would have been a big waste of money. Their technician did not know what he was doing. They even charged us for the service call. The person who came was too inexperienced. I think they do not train their people well. That person was not trying properly. Those guys were very late. They were not responsive. They did not call us to let us know. We were hanging around in the house waiting for them. We had to go somewhere else. I finally called them to check and their customer service guy said they were going to be more late. It would have been nice if they had told us about it. I don't think they were professional. Sending a person who is not well trained is not professional at all. I will definitely not use them. I would never recommend them to anybody.

We have a contract with Greenway for A/C and Heating inspection. Greenway has provided these inspections for the past few years. They come out twice a year to make sure everything is working as expected. This time the service tech came out and found an issue with the control until making the fan come on several times a day even when unit was not on. We have a home warranty with First American so we contacted them so the part (which the tech had in his van) could be installed and covered until the warranty. Well, they did not contact Greenway right away so the tech left without replacing the part. We noticed that the upstairs unit wasn't working when he left and he said it should come right back on since he made no cahnge. Well, it didn't. First American finally contacted Greenway and when I called Greenway, theysiad the tech would come back out the next day or Monday. I let them know that wasn't acceptable since it was working whne he got to the house but not when he left. So, the tech came back at around 5:00-6:00 that evening. He brought the contoller and swapped it out. The unit was working when he left but it quit on Saturday. I called Greenway back and they said he would be out on Monday. I asked to speak to the manager. They said she would call me back. It was several hours later when she called and she wasn't ver y pleasant. She said there wasn't anything they could do until Monday because they had lots of problem calls. I explained that the A/C was working when the tech left but quit the next day. She said there was no evidence that he did anything to cause a problem. She suggeted we call First American and request a different company come out to fix it. I did call them back and they said we proabbly wouldn't get service until Monday. Apparenty it wasn't very important to them because it was just the upstairs unit that wasn't working.My wife had taken off work to be at home when Greenway arrived the first time. She had to take off again on Monday when the tech was coming back out. He called me at work at said he was on his way (my wife had given them her cell number and made it clear to call her since she would be there). I called her and let her know they were on their way. The tech apparently corrected the problem within 30-45 minutes after arriving. Bottom line is that the A/C was working fine when Greenway arrived to do their twice yearly inspection and wasn't working when they left. It was then basically down for two days after they worked on it. I, most likely, will not be doing business with Greenway again. Greenway is one of these one stop, do everything type companies. They do it but not very well.

My wife had them back at the house. It took them 6 months to finish before she was satisfied with it. They were pretty good. I would recommend them. They did the work. My wife can be a little unbending at certain times and a little too strict. They did the work in a timely manner as soon as they got the unit from the company.
Description of Work: Greenway Home Services came out and installed a completely new central heat and air system. They took out the old A/C and heating unit and redid the ducting as well.

They came out as a part of me home insurance program. The fella that was here didn't have the spec sheet on what to do with the washing machine. I spent about an hour online trying to find it to discover that I couldn't find it and it wasn't available. He toyed around in my laundry room for a couple of hours and actually he wouldn't move the washing machine out from the wall so I had to have my husband do it. He was too lazy. That was just a one time incident. I think they have been pretty darn good service wise.

The air conditioner went out Friday evening. I waited until 8:00 a.m. Saturday to call. The receptionist made an appointment for that day between 10 and 2:00. The serviceman called and said that he was on the way at 12:30 p.m. The work was done within about an hour to and hour and a half.
Description of Work: Service technition replaced capacitor and freon. He also cleaned the outside unit.

We called our home warranty company on Friday with a list of 3 or 4 plumbing issues with our home. Within just a few hours we received a call from Greenway. They came out on a Sunday morning just as they stated they would and all repairs were done immediately (they came with all supplies they needed to complete the job) and within a few hours all the repairs were completed expertly. Very professional.

The tech was able to replace the fan unit and make all the repairs in about an hour! The air was running and cooling the house down before he left. I was so thankful that I did not have to replace a 35 year old central a/c unit!
Description of Work: My central a/c downstairs went out on Thursday and I called Greenway. They were able to have some one out the following day between 0800 and 1200. They called just before 0800 and the service tech was here by 0820! He found a mouse had crawled in the outside unit and chewed the wires and killed the fan unit. This unit was the orginal a/c unit installed in the house when it was built in 1975!

The home I purchased in 2003 came with a built in ice maker with two years remaining warranty. The ice maker was nothing but trouble from the beginning and I had to call for warranty service from the manufacturer (GE) from the start. After approximately four visits from the GE technician and almost a thousand dollars in replacement parts and labor, the ice maker finally began to work without breaking down. However this was not to last, as the ice maker went on the blink again in 2006, and we decided not to put any more money into this money pit and the ice maker set idle for about year and a half. In 2008, my refrigerator went on the blink and we called a technician from another company. While repairing my refrigerator I talked to the technician and asked if he worked on ice makers to which he replied no, but he recommended a technician who he once worked with that now worked for Green way Home Services. I called Green way on 8/12/2008 and requested the technician (Darrell), and later that day Darrell showed up at my residence. Darrell examined the ice maker and gave me two possible fixes for the broken ice maker. Darrell gave me an estimate for both fixes to which I agreed and he advised me the parts would take approximately a week to arrive. On 8/20/2008, Darrell called me and advised me the parts had arrived and asked if it was okay to come by and make the repairs to which I said yes. Like clockwork, Darrell removed the ice maker from the cabinet, totally disassembled it and went about replacing the defective parts. Darrell totally explained what he was doing and why as he completed the repairs, and seemed to be more competent repairing the unit than the GE technicians who were suppose to be the experts on the unit. Darrell completed the job for the agreed upon price and two years later, I have not had any problems with the unit other that an unrelated water line leak which I also called Darrell at Green way and he came and made that repair as well. For all my future appliance repairs, I will only use Green way.

The unit stopped operating on June 11 and I contacted American Home Shield (AHS), who sent the notification to its service contractor, Greenway Home Services. They scheduled an inspection on June 13 at 0900. The contractor arrived on time and informed me I needed a new compressor. On the next day, we received a call from the manager of Greenway informing us of the cost for the compressor and recommended we use the cash credit available from AHS to replace the old AC with a new 3.5 ton unit. We did not make an immediate decison, but a day later asked for a determination of cost for a new unit. Upon receiving Greenway's quote, we decided to obtain estimates from 2 other vendors, which delayed a final decision by 3 more days. After receiving the estimates, all of which where higher than Greenway's, we selected to have them install the unit, which took another 3 days. While the delays caused a lot of stress, the installation went very smooth. The crew arrived on time, removed the old unit without any damage to a nearby flower bed and had the entire operation completed in about 3 hours. They did a very professional job.

I spent about $4500 on that work. They did what they said they were going to do and the air-conditioner works. I would hesitant about recommending them to others because I think the technician that came out to do the work did something to cause the system to blow out entirely. It may or may not have been accidental and there were some things that I understand from the salesman turned out not to be correct. I had to call them repeatedly to come out and get the work done, but they came on time. The actual workers I thought were very good.

They are the provider for a home warranty company in town. They take as long as they want to get to you. Because you are using a home warranty company, they don't get to you for three or four days and that's just the way they run. That is really frustrating. As a matter of fact, I have a call pending with them right now that I called in over the weekend. They got the call yesterday. I know it was Memorial Day but they were working. They told me that if I was willing to pay cash they would see me on Tuesday but if I was going to use my home warranty it wouldn't be until Wednesday. They had put Freon two months ago in my air-conditioner. Now I am stuck with them on a recall because I have got the same Freon problem. I am not happy about being stuck with them on a recall because I didn't like them the first time. I am not really wanting them the second time and I guarantee I won't have them the third time. When I called the home warranty company, they said that as I had seen Greenway less than 90 days ago and I had the same problem, Greenway would have to warrant their work. Freon to them was a part and therefore if they didn't put the right amount of Freon in and it leaked out enough for me to have the problem, then they should have put more in. Therefore they needed to warrant their work. Since I was talking to the person from the home warranty company on Memorial Day, he said that Greenway didn't technically have to call me back until the first business day after my call which would have been Tuesday. Once they called me on Tuesday they didn't have to see me for two business days which would have been Wednesday. So they were within their guideline and there was nothing the home warranty company could do about it. Greenway lets me use the home warranty company which is only a $60.00 service call, so that is cheaper than their usual $79.00 service call.

I contacted American Home Shield home warranty service about my water heater, which was performing poorly. They contract with Greenway who called me to schedule a service appointment. The service technician decided that the old water heater could be serviced by replacing the dip tube, which I had already attempted myself. They would not use the brand new dip tube that I had purchased (for warranty reasons), so they put one on order. About a week later the technician came back with the part and found that the old one could not be removed. It was decided that the entire water heater needed to be replaced. Greenway called me with a quote of over 400 dollars (out of pocket, not covered by home warranty) for the replacement. The cost included $100 for the permit (a water heater replacement is a $20 permit), $75 for removal and disposal of the old water heater, and almost $250 for replacing the existing vent. I called Greenway and the home warranty company concerning the vent and was told that it was a code issue and could not be contested. However, I spoke to a city/county inspector who told me the vent was up to code as installed. Eventually I had to speak with the VP of operations at Greenway to have the work done without replacing the vent. The water heater is in a small cellar accessed by a ships ladder through a hatch in the kitchen floor. When the installers arrived, I helped them empty the old water heater by carrying 5 gallon buckets of water up the ladder and outside. They broke the old vent loose from the chimney and tried to say it was an unlined flue, even though the edge of the liner could be seen. I had to go up on the steep roof and take a picture of the top of the chimney to prove there was a flue liner. I helped one installer haul the old heater out of the cellar, and when they couldn't get back in a tight spot to reattach the vent to the chimney, I had to squeeze back behind the heater and slather a tub full of goopy furnace cement around the vent pipe. I was charged $100 for a $20 permit (which wasn't filed before the work commenced), $35 for two 1/2" couplings and a half piece of pipe insulation, and $60 for the service call. I don't know how many times I was told that it wouldn't pass inspection with the old vent pipe, but I was almost convinced- even though the old vent had passed inspection just a few years ago. When the inspector came, he passed it without question. While I feel that Greenway charged a heavy premium on the permit and the inexpensive parts, it should be mentioned that American Home Shield pays them a very modest amount for a water heater replacement. In fact, I could barely have bought the water heater itself for what they pay out on the warranty. That's more of a problem with AHS in my opinion and Greenway is just doing what they can to not lose money on the service. What I didn't appreciate was being pressured into doing work to meet code that didn't need to be done. I work in the construction industry so I had no problem looking up the applicable code and talking to inspectors, but I think most people would have been convinced and would have spent a lot of money they didn't need to.

They are the contractor for our "home warranty" program. Often when they come out they come up with a reason our need is not covered. All I ask is that they tell us this before they come out so i don't get charged with a service charge and i don't unnecessarily have to miss work time. Also, since they know you have no choice as to whom to use (if you choose to use the warranty) they have not seemed all that interested in getting to our house at the promised time. I hate the huge windows of time they provide again requireing you to miss so much work. Also, one time they told me that the time frame was going to be between 8-noon. but when i called at 9 to chick the status they had not left the office yet becasue they had an office meeting every week at that time. i suggested to the call center that they not tell us that it is possible to be out at our house at 8 if they are always going to be in a meeting and never at a house at that time. She thought i was a fool. it is still between 8-noon, she explained. i suggested that if the truth is between 9:30-noon, they should say that so we could go to work in the morning and get back by 9:30 but she said that she would continue to represent that they will be at houses between 8-noon. By the way, i may not have the times exactly correct. It could be that their meetings were at at different time. It hsas been a few months and i can not recall the time exactly. My point is that they should not make you think that you could wait at your house for the possibility that they may be there if they know they will be in a meeting and obviously there will be additional travel time. All i asked is that they be truthful and she refused. I complained to a mngr and he said he was sorry for her attitude. I did appreciate him hearing my concern.
