Excellent Roofing LLC

Last year during the worst heat, we chose Excellent after taking a look at your listings of opinions from other folks. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. Our contact was Roger Buchanan, General Manager, a great communicator, who spent lots of time explaining the whole Excellent program. He answered all questions and provided very informative brochures, which explained the whole process. Being a novice at decisions such as spending big-time money, we needed all the help we could get, and Roger delivered. Excellent Company worked either one and a half days or two and half days - in the terrible heat - and they did a terrific job. The company's super machine, which is very tall, moves along on the ground below the workers on the roof, and they throw the old shingles into it. To catch the very few singles that fell to the ground, another worker was there to collect them. And the following day, the house grounds were checked for debris. The Excellent Company treats their workers (members of their company) very well with sufficient breaks and time to rest when necessary. The work gets done on time as planned. We were happy to have a sign advertising the company placed in our yard for two weeks, Some neighbors came over, and we recommended highly the Excellent Company, as we still are. We received some phone calls from neighbors asking all about the company, and again we said it was terrific.

They did a great and I have had no problems so far.

Mr. Kee came out, measured my roof, and gave me an estimate. He was timely and professional. I went with another company mainly because they had done work for friends of mine.

I called for an estimate, they came within a day or so. Their estimate was at least $1000 lower than two others. They worked with my schedule in setting up the work and were available to start work within a week or two. They arrived on the day promised, worked like crazy stripping the old roof and repairing the decking and then started installing the new shingles. Rain came before they finished the first day, so the roof was covered with tarps. They returned the next morning and by the end of the second day they had re-shingled the house and picked up all the debris and nails. The supervisor met with me the next day, checked the work and presented the bill. It was a wonderful experience to have someone show up on time, do a terriffic job, and present a bill that was well within the estimate. I highly recommend Excellent Roofing and would recommend them to friends and family. You cannot go wrong with this company!

Terrific experience start to finish

My roof had been leaking in one spot in the den for quite a while. I had called several roofers to repair it, but they were unable to find the spot. Since the roof was old, I decided to have the whole thing replaced. On my initial call to the company, we set an appointment for an estimate. (Another company I called, took my contact info, then didn't call me to set up an appointment for a week. I thought they didn't want more business) The Project Manager /estimator arrived on time. He was easy going, professional, and seemed to be happy with his job. No hard sell. (I interpret this to mean that the company treats its employees well.) Since the company also does gutter work and painting, I asked him to include these in his estimate. He itemized the work to be done and I was able to compare it item by item, including guarantees, with other estimates. It was about 6 weeks between the time I signed the contract and work actually began. By then, the temperatures were running in the upper 90s - very hot. And my roof is in full sun. The roofers tore off three layers of old roofing. (No wonder other roofers couldn't find the origin of the leak.) It was scorching in the sun, but the workers were diligent and seemingly in good spirits. One of the workers even volunteered to help me get my recalcitrant lawn mower started. It took about two days to tear off the roof on the house and the one on the garage and replace them both. They did all this without disturbing a robin nesting over the gutter downspout. they even filled the birdbath with water for her as they were cleaning up the roof debris. I requested that the project manager wait to do the gutters after the robin left, so as not to disturb her nest over the downspout. About a month after they had finished the roof, I called to tell them the baby birds had not made it and that it was ok to do the gutters and painting. The workers who replaced the gutters and painted the porch ceilings and back door were efficient and careful. They also seemed to be of good cheer. They also replaced a piece of fascia that has been hanging from the roofline as a result of high winds months earlier. All in all, it was an excellent experience. The Project Manager came by more than once to check on the progress of the projects and the quality of the work. I have recommended them to several people.

I have to say that Travis Kee and his crew did an excellent job on reroofing my house. I had three estimates and Travis Kee wasn't the highest or the lowest but after talking to Travis a couple of times I knew he was the right person for the job. His level of knowledge and professionalism made my decison easy. I asked for an estimate to reroof my house and also to replace all the gutters which he told me he didn't do but gave me the name and number to the guy he uses for all his roofing job. He came out to give me an estimate and I told him I worked graveyard shift and would probably be sleeping when he came out. He showed up and measured the roof and gutters and called me with an estimate. He emailed it to me and it was everything I wanted to have done. I had a gable vent on the back of my house which I wanted removed and have a ridge vent installed. The estimate included that and he and his job supervisor Carl gave me the details on how the ridge vent worked and after talking to both Travis and Carl I felt they knew what they were talking about. I picked out the color shingles and they started working on the roof that week. It took about two days due to the excessive heat we had this summer and I was fine with that. After the first day the entire back of the house was done and by about 1pm the second day the house was complete and just in time since about the time they were finishing up cleaning it started to pour down rain. The next week is when I had the gutters replaced by Doug from GutterWorks and he also did an excellent job and even covered up an area on the back of the house that was exposed to the elements due to poor workmanship on the builder of the house which at first I thought was a mistake on the roofing but after several trips up the ladder and measurements I realized it was no fault of Travis and his crew but the mistake on the builder. Doug made a patch from the same material of the gutters to cover up this area and after that was in place and the gutters were installed you can't really tell there is a problem anymore. Travis and Carl even came out the day I was getting the gutters installed and asked how everything was going. That visit made me realize I picked the right company to do my roofing job. You don't find good service these days anymore and Travis and his crew did an excellent job and I would definately use them again although since I went up to the 30 year shingles I'm hoping to not have to call them back out again. I told Travis he reminded me of Mike Holmes because he believes to do the work right the first time and use the right materials even if they cost more. I couldn't agree more. I don't mind spending extra for good materials and good service and quality of work. I couldn't be happier with the work they performed and I hope this review send more work their way. No one will be disappointed with the work they get done by Travis and his crew.

we decided to let them do the work because of the reviews on Angie's list and their estm was close to the insurance adjuster's. Also they offered a coupon on Angie's list which allowed us to get the architect shingles. They got the job done in less than two days we were very pleased with the work and the time they got it done in.

I was very happy as they did a great job. I got a discount as I found them through Angie's List. My old roof consisted of a free roof. They cleaned it up very nicely and left the place very clean when they were done. I would recommend them to my friends and family members as they were conscientious. They worked very quickly. It was a big roof and they were done in three days. They were wonderful and very professional. I do not want to put another roof but I will use them again in the future if I have to.

Fantastic company! This is the best repair-type company I have ever worked with. After an estimate with full explanation, I had Excellent Roofing replace my roof and do some inside repair from leak damage. Mr. Bennett worked directly with my insurance company, explaining to them the whats and whys of getting the job done right. When I commented to him that I could not tell where the leaks were, his comment was, "That's how it should be." Do you know how rare it is to hear something like this from anyone? I even suggested this company to a relative who also had their roof replaced. They had the same compliments about Mr. Bennett and his crew. I will never use anyone else!

They are knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive.

My roof was damaged during the recent storms. I called Excellent Roofing after speaking to a couple of other roofing companies because I did not feel comfortable with what I was being told. The office assistance was very courteous. After describing the services that I would need, she transferred me to John (owner) who went over their process with me and told me which project manager would be assigned to the job. I was contacted immediately by Wes. He was very professional and helpful throughout the process. I really like that they nail samples of the roofing colors to your house so that you can get an idea of how the final product will look. I picked my colors, and in a couple of days, a crew was at my house. They started on a Monday afternoon and finished the next day. The crew was very nice, and they did a good job of cleaning up. I was concerned that nails would be left in the yard; however, I only found a few after the crew left. I recommend that have them to check your gutters for nails during your final walk through. Each time it rained, I had nails pouring out of the gutters. Excellent offers an upgrade on roofing materials at no extra charge. So, now I have the nice architectural shingles installed. Excellent also provides a 7 year warranty on their jobs, and they register your warranty information with GAF corporation (shingle manufacturer). I received my copy in the mail. This is great because you don't have to worry about material or installation malfunctions. They will take care of you. Excellent Roofing deserves the rating it has on Angie's list. They did a nice job.

Wes the project coordinator was very professional and very informative. The work took 6 days instead of 3 due due the small crew working on the house as they lost several men due to health issues. In the end John the manager, Wes and a different crew came out to clean up site and it now looks great. Would go with Wes again in the future.

I requested an estimate from Excellent Roofing. David McMillan arrived exactly when he said he would. He was thorough in his inspection, and provided an estimate quickly. I agreed to the cost, and the work was scheduled. David called me about a delay in getting my shingles. The delay was beyond their control. He updated me periodically as to when the shingles would be on site. When the shingles arrived, he immediately scheduled the work. His work group arrived on time and completed the job in 1 1/2 days. They worked hard and long, and were extremely careful to protect my property including my yard. I was very impressed. David was prompt in providing me all the documentation immediately after the work was done. He did 2 followups to see if I was satisfied. I do not see how he could have done more!

We had an old roof that had started leaking in several places, not from storm damage or anything just from old age, and it had gotten to the point where we had to get it fixed because the water damage was affecting other structural and interior parts of the home. We called several roofers from Angie's list, Kee Roofing included, and they all said they were stacked up and behind from the recent storms. Interesting enough a few of the other roofers actually recommended Kee who we had already called and said he couldn't do it. While we were sitting there wondering who to call next Travis Kee called back and said he would come out and take a look. We have a turn of the century brick home out in the county. It's around 3500 sqft. The upstairs level was stucco covered with vinyl siding. The roof had two layers of shingles. The roof tear off was pretty straightforward. Through some kind of an incentive program with the shingle supplier we ended up with 50 year shingles at no additional cost. He also replaced three attic wind urbines with thermostat controlled electric turbines. We incurred some additional costs because some of the decking where the roof had been leaking needed to be replaced. This was not included in the original estimate and Kee did the additional work for just a little over the cost of the materials. Where we ran into major difficulties was when the vinyl siding was pulled back to install flashing against the upper story it became apparent that the stucco layer had started to crumble and would have to be removed to properly install the flashing. I asked Travis if he could do that work and he said yes and gave me an estimate. I mentioned that my next project was going to be replacing the old windows storm windows with new energy efficient windows and he advised me that it would be better to do it while the siding was off and then install the siding. One of his employees had recently been to a workshop on window installation and he gave me an estimate which I felt was reasonable. I actually think I got the better part of that deal and ii would expect if he does it again he will charge more. :o Because the windows had to be special ordered we had to put everything after the initial roof job on hold until the windows arrived. There were also some other scheduling problems that I induced because of vacation and the 4th of July which Travis was very accommodating about working around. I would like to just mention that while I am happy with the quality of the windows. I will never do business with Central Window and especially their salesman Darrly. See a separate Angie's list posting about that. In summary our experience with Kee Roofing was outstanding! Travis saw to every detail and gave me good advice throughout the process. I was especially impressed with his right hand man, Carl, who did most of the carpentry, siding and windows. I highly recommend them and would use them again but since I got 50 year shingles I probably won't have to! :)

They were a little slow returning my initial estimate request but once the ball got rolling they were great. I can't say enough about the crew. They were polite, professional and always wore company shirts which identified them. The Project Manager came out the morning the job started and stopped back to check in. I was impressed by that. The roof looks great and we now have piece of mind with the new roof.

The estimate was for about $7200. They were responsive, knowledgeable, thorough, and impressive. I didn't use them, but I have very favorable things to say about them. I haven't made a final decision yet.

Wes Marable was on top of everything and made sure the crew did a good job. He made sure everything was corrected without a hitch.

John Bennett, owner of Excellent Roofing, was willing to take on the responsibly for the whole job. He took time to explain in detail what needed to be done and offered suggestion on changes that would make the overall outcome better. He was very patient with me as I made changes that required revised estimates and more of his time without making a commitment to hire him. We did not know when we contracted with John that my wife's sister, who lived in East Tennessee, would unexpectedly enter into the terminal stages of cancer and we would need to leave several times while the work was going on. The job required access to the property, utility room and house. I had a choice of stopping the work while we were gone or leaving a key with David the project supervisor and trusting him to do the work and secure the property every night before leaving. I chose to leave a key and felt confident that David and John would take care of our property as thought it were their own and they did. As to all the other contractors who I considered for the job, I don't believe I would have trusted them and their workers enough to leave them a key. John Bennett and his team of workers and sub-contractors take a great deal of pride in the quality of their work. They do what they say they will do when they say they will do it and I don't know of anyone that can do it better. They are the most honest, trustworthy, construction group that I have every dealt with. You can find other companies that will beat their price but you want find one that can equal the quality of their work or leave you more satisfied.

Travis came out with his roofer, they got up on the roof in the area of the leak and found one minor issue. Travis called me to report the issue, they then addressed it - charging me only $50.00. The $50 price was extremely reasonable. Travis is a very good natured professional that is a joy to work with, and will be the roofer I use from now on.

Travis Kee of Kee Roofing & Home Improvements was a Godsend in my choice of a roofing contractor. He personally called me, while he was on vacation with his family, to let me know he had received my request for a quote and would have someone out to check the job requirements & get me a bid. Very prompt & professional. I felt from the start that I had made the right decision for my roofing contractor. His crew was just excellent!!! Travis informed me of the time they would start after the holiday & they were right on time. We had pop-up showers during this time & his crew did everything to keep us dry. They even had special people that kept the job site cleaned. They worked from 7:00 am until dark both days. This roofing crew has integrity. They are proud of their work, & have good reason to be so. Their experience & professionalism was very prominent. Travis stayed with the job from start to finish. He didn't pop off to other job sites. He made sure all work was performed as he had promised. He also kept me updated on all progress of the job at hand. The roofing system components that Kee uses are the best products to provide a leak-free long life roof (I personally checked out the materials & watched the installation of the entire roofing system since I was on vacation). The complete job cost me less than I had budgeted and I was very pleased. We had people stopping on the street to get information for their own roofing needs. I am a Facilities Manager of a 650,000 square foot warehouse & I know a good job when I see it. I would recommend Kee Roofing to my family members, friends, & neighbors in a heartbeat. Thanks Travis & your crew for the most excellent work and the fair pricing. No cutting corners to increase profit. No gouging for 'unseen damage'. This roof is so beautiful!! (my wife) I may sound like a salesman, but there are still companies out here that do excellent service.

Using Excellent Roofing turned out to be the best experience I could have hoped for with a roofing contractor. The end result is fantastic and if I need roof work completed in the future, these guys will be my first call. Reasons why I selected Excellent Roofing over other companies: * Customer Service - The quoting process was done in a very professional manner which included an in-person presentation of the quote with plenty of time to answer all my questions. Other companies were fine with blindly dropping the quote off and running. David nailed several shingle samples to the roof prior to a final selection. This turned out to be extremely important since the color I thought I wanted based on a pamphlet picture was not at all appealing once on the roof. * Quality - David presented the new roof as a comprehensive system and explained how their work differs from competitors. Much of this discussion was a result of getting into the specifics of the quote and why others had drastically different numbers for the total number of squares. The use of starter shingles and ridge cap shingles were a point of differentiation. Also, they have a seven year workmanship warranty - the best I saw when evaluating roof proposals. When the actual work was completed, I found the crew to be extremely hard working and diligent. David and/or John stopped by the job site at various points of the day but it was clear they had 100% confidence in the crew. They were very thorough and cleaned up to the point that I would not have even known they were there. My landscaping and yard were left untouched, the attic was clean, and I am extremely happy with the outcome. If all contractors operated like these guys, sites like this would not be necessary.

We contacted three roofers to get estimates, two from Angie's list and 1 from neighbor. Excellent had the best package and provided the most accurate picture of what would happen. Once we decided on all the details, they provided written estimates and even walked through everything with the insurance company rep. This helped in smooth and quick processing of the damage claim. Once everything was approved, we set a date. The crew showed up on time and ready to work. They did a great job getting it done and did a very thorough clean up. They followed up on all questions and requests.

Just advice to others looking for roofing repair.. The gentlemen referred me to someone else. He indicated that they focused more on replacement of entire roofs. The gentleman he referred me to was also too busy to look into my job and told me to call him back in a couple of weeks if I didn't find anyone else.
