+ 0 moreBefore we called The Chimney Doctor, we found water damage in our attic around the chimney to the fireplace. We called a roofing company to look at the damage and they said the flashing around the chimney needed to be replaced. The roofing company replaced the flashing and it still leaked. They looked again, said the leak was in the chimney and put a tarp over the chimney until we could get it repaired. The Chimney Doctor was the first to accurately assess our chimney leakage problem; we needed a properly designed chase pan to carry the rain away. HOORAY FOR THE CHIMNEY DOCTOR!
Description of Work: They built a correctly angled chase pan and installed it.

+ 0 moreAs a new homeowner in the neighborhood I had a new washer and dryer installed. The Installer could not complete the installation of the dryer because the vent was too clogged. I had originally called a major department store who offered this type of service but the they quoted one price but them he tech said it would be much more than the original quote, they called after nine oclock and they were rude. On the other hand The Chimney Doctor Inc's receptionist was pleasant and professional quoted a price that they stayed with. The technician was prompt (I was late but he had waited on me.). He did a very professional and thorough job and even completed the installation of my dryer after he was done. Would use again.

+ -1 moreAppointment was easy to set up. Hired them to clean and inspect fire place and chimney prior to moving in. Steve and Mike were very professional. They called 15 minutes prior to appointment and asked if they could come early as already in the neighborhood. Did a very efficient job cleaning the fireplace. Gave me very useful information on operating the fireplace and gave me suggestions for maintenance on the chimney. They were done in about 45 minutes.

Cleaned fireplace, inspected and pointed out a small problem for which they offered me the option to have them repair or suggested "do-it-yourself" tips. I opted to have them do the small crack repair. Inexspensive. Purchased chimney cap, no pressure sales. Applied cap. Finished the job promptly, efficiently and cleanly. Would use them again.

Description of Work: Steve Hooks and his partner Michael arrived promptly to asess cracks in my fireplace, They determiined that there were a few cracks in the firebox and recommended patching and a chimney clean. Also made recommendations to what I could do on my own.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed by the timeliness and professionalism. The owner came out first to check things out, followed minutes later by the guys who cleaned the chimney. They were extremely efficient and very timely with the work. They cleaned the area very well after cleaning the chimney. The inspection found some problems as I expected it would. Nothing was a safety concern so the owner gave me a written estimate for the work and did not apply high pressure to get it all done immediately. He actually recommended spacing out some of the work to diffuse the cost. I would definitely recommend The Chimney Doctor and will use them again in the future. I wish all companies were this easy and pleasant to deal with!
Description of Work: We just bought our house about a year ago. Didn't use the fireplace last year. Used it for the first few times this year and noticed a really heavy odor of creosote. So, we called The Chimney Doctor out to clean and inspec the fireplace and chimney. Our home inspector had already inspected everything for structural soundness before we bought the house so we didn't have real safety concerns. I just wanted the terrible smell out of my house. The Chimney Doctor did a thorough sweeping of the chimney and fireplace and did an inspection and of the fireplace and both interior and exterior of the chimney.

+ -1 moreOur pre-fab fireplace was no longer usable. We wanted the chimney capped so we would storp losing heat and air conditioning.We contacted Chimnesy Doctors, they came out ant took measurements and returned in about 2 weeks to install the cap. We are very satisfied.

+ 0 moreHad our chimney and fireplace inspected and cleaned. It hadn't been done in about 10 years and it's a good thing we didn't wait longer. The buildup inside was very thick and we were on verge of having a chimney fire. These guys are great. They're great about calling ahead and showing up on time.As soon as the guys arrived, they got to work. Everything was covered and protected and room was spotless when they left. One technician worked very long and hard to break off the thick residue of ash/etc. Ryan checked out our chimney up top and gave me some great advice on brick/mortar repairs I'll be needing. He showed me digital pics and was practical in his suggestions. These guys are pros and aren't trying to sell work.....but they know what they're talking about. I highly recommend them to anyone and I won't wait so long next time for a cleaning.

+ 0 moreWe had a terrible water leak in our chimney. During heavy rains water would drip into our fireplace and out onto the floor. The Chimney Doctor sealed the masonry and installed a cap on the chimney. We called the business a number of times to come back out because rain water continued to leak into the fireplace through the chimney. Each time we called The Chimney Doctor they responded promptly. On the last call I asked that the owner come out. He inspected the chimney and recommended that we have a saddle installed. We contacted our roofer, had a saddle built and installed, and haven't had a problem since. I am very pleased with the Chimney Doctor's professionalism, prompt service, and diligence in returning to fix the problem.

+ 2 moreOverall it went very well. I had used The Chimney Doctor before at my previous house and when I had an issue in my new house, I immediately called them. They were very responsive and quickly disgnosed the problem (original symptom being a strong creosote odor) and completed the necessary repairs. In addition, over the course of the next few the months, they were very proactive in helping me reduce / eliminate the odors that remained as the chimney was drying out. They came by multiple times and installed / replaced charcoal filters at no additional charge. I am not sure how their costs are related to others in this industry, but I have been completely satisifed in their work and how they respond to customer requests. I would recommend them completely.
Description of Work: Install a Full Cover/Pan, Powerwash, Bevel Shoulders of the chimney and apply water repellent.

+ 0 moreCompany had run out of deodorizer spray and could not spray anything after the cleaning. Then when we sold the house and had it inspected, we found they never even put the metal brush sweeper inside to clean the creosote. I had to complain and call the company back out to redo the job correctly. They did a great job the second time, it would have been nice for it to have been done the first time though.

+ 1 moreOver all I would rate the quality as B+. This easily would have been an A+ had it been done in one visit instead of the four visits spread over a month.
Description of Work: After sorting through a few reports and BBB status for chimney sweeps, I settled on The Chimney Doctor, Inc. The owner, Steve Hooks came out to make the estimate and his "new hire" assistant climbed the roof and determined the chimney cap (chase pan) needed to be replaced and a water repellant needed to be applied to preserve the masonry work . I noticed the assistant was having a little trouble making some measurements for the chase pan and he was a little nervous about being on the roof. A week later the crew came out and put the chase pan on and applied the ChimneySaver to my chimney. Everything went well, but Chris rang the bell and explained to me there was a minor problem with the pan and he needed a different piece. The next week Chris came back out and was still having issues trying to make the ill-fitting pan work with the new piece. Chris again had to come to me and apologize for something that was not his fault, but as a professional he made it a point to let me know this normally does not happen. His customer service was something most companies wished all their employees had and Chimney Doctor is lucky to have him! There was one more visit by Chris, to properly measure the chase pan requirements before the job was completed on the fourth and final visit. Throughout the entire process I was never worried the job would be completed, and I think the experience I had was atypical. Chris even said he has never had a job where he had to make so many visits to complete it. I believe him. He also said Steve fired the new guy for other mis-measured jobs. Bottom line The Chimney Doctor is a company that will do it right even if it means doing it twice. I can't say enough about Chris and his friendly, informative nature and willingness to make things right.

+ 1 moreThey were wonderful. I mean, they were so good you can't believe it. They came out right when they said they would, measured, and then went away to have it made. They were supposed to do it a couple of days later, maybe up to a week later. During that time we got a weather report saying we were going to get this horrible storm and I told my husband that I didn't think we would get our cap in time. But they had seen the weather report and hurried to get it done, then showed up and got it on before the rain hit. I thought that was so neat.
Description of Work: I used The Chimney Doctor to custom make a metal cap for the top of my chimney.
