As usual, Chris was on-time and came ready to work. He quickly knocked out the job and put everything back in place where it was originally. Even though we decided to do some accent walls and different colors, he was very quick with it, and let me know up-front that doing 2 colors would affect the pricing slightly since he'd have to wash out brushes and everything to do the other color. Once again - he did a great job at an extremely fair price. I highly recommend Chris for any painting project you might have.

Chris did an excellent job. He estimated that the project would take about a week, and started and finished on time. Chris works alone and completes all aspects of the job himself. I felt very comfortable leaving him in the house all day, and he was professional in all of his interactions. The walls and ceilings came out looking great. After finishing on Friday, Chris followed up on Sunday with us to see if there were any touch-ups that were needed. He came over and took care of a few minor details. Overall a very good job, and I would recommend him.

We moved into a new office, and needed to make it our own. Since we're a creative services firm, we wanted to do some unique things in here that set us apart to our clients. We picked a funky pattern of multicolored stripes for some walls, and painted other main walls white so we could put whiteboard paint on them - turning much of our office into a huge dry-erase board. Unfortunately, our talents in internet marketing didn't translate to picking paint colors! The two "blues" that we picked actually turned out to be more purple and lavender than a light & dark blue! (Thanks Sherwin Williams... but I won't get into that). In spite of that, Chris helped us figure out how to make the best of our situation and recommended some alternatives to the original color scheme. The finished product looks AMAZING and we've already had a variety of compliments in the last 2 weeks. Since we couldn't close the office down during the painting project, I was really impressed with how well Chris worked around us, and made it easy for us to keep doing business. There was hardly any disruption at all, which made a huge impact to me as the business owner. We are simply thrilled with our new digs, and Chris made it all come together. He went above and beyond on the job, and when I had him repaint one wall that we changed our minds on- he didn't bend us over the barrel on it. Highly Recommended - he's the kind of service vendor that you want to hire.

Chris did a tremendous job for us on all the projects . We have used multiple painters in the past, but none did quite the job that Chris did. His attention to detail is second to none. He is highly recommended and we would definetly continue to use his services in the future.

Did not even return my call. I guess they have all the work they want. Gave my $4800 to someone else!

I used Angie's List to find a reference for a good painter in my area and came across Chris Gavin. The reviews were stellar and he had done some work in Collierville which is where we live. I was able to reach him on his cell phone immediately and we arranged a time for him to come out and give me an estimate. He arrived right on time for the appointment (rare with contractors/painters!) and was very professional. He gave me a written quote before leaving my home. The quote was based on doing 1 coat of paint in the majority of the downstairs as we were not changing the color and 2 coats in the master bedroom and bath where we chose a different color. He also estimated the job would take about a week. He started the job on schedule and showed up promptly everyday and worked very diligently. I was in and out of the house while he was there and every time I showed up (not always announced) he was working hard and very focused. He informed me after the first day or two that he thought he needed to do 2 coats of paint instead of 1 but assured me there would be no extra charge. He was very meticulous and would look at the work at different angles in the sun to make sure the finish was up to his standards, which are very high. I am picky and didn't ever have to point anything out because he was just as picky (if not more)! He even ended up doing some patch work on some places where the wall had cracked from the house settling. He did end up completing the work on schedule by working a few hours on Saturday. We paid him once the job was completed which I really liked as many painters ask for up to 50% up front. There is not 1 negative thing I would say about the job that Chris did. He was prompt, dependable, professional, thorough and always cleaned up after himself!

We actually got a bid from Chris last year, weren't ready to start the project, had him re-bid a year later (with no price inflation to boot), then waited a few months for him to finish a big project scheduled ahead of us. He was worth the wait. Chris was professional, punctual, meticulous, a good communicator, enjoyable to work with, never gave me a moment's concern being in the house by himself with our dog, worked for a very very reasonable and competitive price, cleaned up after himself, made sure every detail I wanted was just right and had very high standards for completion himself before he would finish any part of the project. Moreover, Chris ran into a number of unexpected challenges with our cabinets and wood paneled walls but never tried to increase the price even though these issues prolonged the project and caused him extra work above and beyond the original bid. Chris worked with a variety of types and brands of paint on a number of different surfaces using different techniques (including spraying our cabinets), and in every case he did a wonderful job. The only downside to working with Chris is that he is a one-man operation, so you may have to wait for him to start and projects are completed more slowly than if you hired a crew. But if you want an excellent paint job for a reasonable price completed by and honest and easy-to-work-with contractor, Chris is a fantastic choice. We will definitely use him again for future projects and would recommend him to anyone.

This is the second time we've used Chris. This was a bigger job than our first and I was extremely happy! He works hard and is amazing at what he does. Price very fair for this job. We will be using him again.

Very well . We were well pleased with the whole experience with Chris. He is personable, does what he says he is going to do and does not try to inflate the job or fees. He cleans after himself and completed the job with the rooms ready to for habitation.

The project went very smoothly. He was easy to contact and came out to quote the job exactly when he said he would. He was unable to start right the job for several months, so we continued looking. In the end, nobody else that we interviewed seemed up to the task and nobody came close to Chris's price, so we waited for him to become available. The work started exactly when he said it would. I always knew when he would be here and how things were progressing. He did not want and would not take an advance on the job, chosing instead to bill me for each week for only the work actually completed. He generally worked from about 10 am until about 4 pm each day and was always busy while he was here. He was very professional about cleaning up each day. In a house with kids and cats, that was very important. Our house had some fairly large issues with sheetrock. There were many places where tape had come loose and was cracked. It really made the house show poorly. Chris did an excellent job repairing each and every one of these areas. These repairs were as important as the new paint in terms of the finished product. I learned very early in the process that Chris has a higher standard than I do for his painting. Nothing was ever done until it met his exacting standards. Walls or ceilings would be repainted until he was satisfied with the result. When the project was nearing completion, we created a punch list of everything that we thought needed to be touched up. There were a number of small things on the list (remember that it was our entire house). Each and every thing we found, no matter how small, was quickly addressed. He actually had things on his list that we never saw and even those were corrected. The finished product is outstanding! The house looks amazing! I do want to note for you, however, that Chris works alone. The larger the job, the longer it's going to take. A crew of 10 painters isn't going to show up and paint your house in 2 weeks. It's going to be Chris, working by himself, at his pace. If you need the job to go quickly, you should look elsewhere. If you don't mind waiting, you'll wind up with excellent results at extremely reasonable prices. We did and are very pleased with the result.

He didn't do work but he gave me a quote and he was timely. I called him and told him I wouldn't have the painting done right away and I would keep him on the short list. He did a very through job with the quote. There were no negatives at all, he seemed very knowledgeable and professional. He was prompt and courteous and right on time.

Chris did a great job at a reasonable rate. He is very thorough and does a quality job. He painted and repaired a hallway that was in very bad shape and he painted two more rooms and a bookcase. I am very satisfied

He showed up on time very personable. Their price was very reasonable.

We found him through Angie's list. He is very personable and a very nice person. He is easy to work with. We had to reset our starting date and he was very accommodating. I think his prices are very, very reasonable. I don't know if he is a person that is really concerned with deadlines. We are not the kind who would want him here all the time doing work and are not too particular about it. I'm not sure how he would work in that situation. He will be here today.

His was the lowest bid we got of all the estimates that we received. He was just real nice and respectable. He came out on a Saturday though he said he couldn't and he was very prompt.

I called Chris on New Year's Day - for a job the next day! (We were moving in and needed the room painted before the movers showed up!) He was available and came right away! He finished my son's red room in less than 7 hours! It was a perfect job - he is very detailed oriented and clean. He was nice and very professional. He gave us an estimate for more rooms in our home, and we will be calling him back soon!

Gavin is an independent painter. He is meticulous and careful. Be sure to let him know exactly what you want painted. He only estimates and paints what he perceives you asked for. The only concern you might have is his schedule. He works by himself, and sometimes you have to be willing to wait a while for completion. I would higly recommend Chris Gavin and plan to use his services again.

The job was performed by Mr. Gavin and one helper, they were very clean in their work and was willing to do what ever it took to satisfy the principal. The helper was a smoker and spend a lot of time in the bathroom (where wall paper was removed) with the door closed. I later found out he had been in the bathroom secretly smoking in my smoke free home. When this was discovered and Mr. Gavin was approached he denied that his worker had been smoking in the house, however when provided evidence of the smoking he responded very casually as though he could not understand why this was upsetting to me.

He was an excellent painter who really cares about his work. The job he did was fantastic. However, he usually did not begin his day until 10:30 or 11am and finished about 4:30 or 5pm. Also, be sure to be very specific about what you want painted. We had to ask him to add some areas that we thought were already specified.

I just wanted to recommend Chris Gavin Painting & Remodeling. I was very pleased with the quality of his work and the price. He's reliable, honest, a hard worker. He showed up for work on time when he said he'd be there, he completed his work in a timely manner. I really had no problems with leaving him alone in my house to work.

Chris came on time, and he laid down some canvas drop cloth when he painted. When he did the crown molding he only put in about 6 feet for the corners. My husband and I painted the crown molding ourselves. It took Chris about about 4 hours max to put the crown molding in, and for the painting it took him about a day and a half. The thing I am so impressed about is the painting he did. There wasn't paint anywhere but the walls, when Chris was done, he put the furniture back where it was originally. Chris did such an outstanding job.
