We were told by our water company that we must have a leak due to water usage. Our home was under a warranty purchased by the sellers. I called the warranty company and they sent a very unprofessional company that could not find the leak, yet quoted two different prices (an astronomical one to me and another slightly more realistic one to my husband) for work they were not sure would fix the problem. He did not even shut off the water at the street to try to detect the leak and charged me $60 for the "service call." Frustrated, I called my insurance agents office and asked if they knew of anyone. Michael Stewart of Ace Plumbing was highly recommended. Michael Stewart and Nick Kortenber came out for a free estimate the day I called. After shutting off the water and extensive searching, Michael recommended that I contact a leak detection company to pinpoint the elusive leak. They could not find the leak either and recommended a new shut-off valve to the house because the home only had a street shut-off. They did not charge me for their efforts. Ace Plumbing came out at my request and put in the shut-off valve, replaced a toilet (that I had purchased from a home improvement center), and repaired a bath lavatory ($700) at less than half the price of the lowest quote from the warranty company for the shut-off valve installation. They poured concrete to repair the patio and cleaned up the area very well. Our water meter was still moving after shutting the valve off, so we knew that there was a leak somewhere outside of the house. Michael and Nick recommended I again contact the leak detection company ($375) since we had no visible evidence of a leak in the yard or near the carport. They met the leak specialist and repaired the leak in the yard once it was detected ($400). Michael and Nick were kind, respectful, professional, and prompt. The prices I paid for the work were exactly what they estimated. Two months later, we have had no problems with any repairs. We will be calling Ace Plumbing for our future plumbing needs.
