Abbey Road Chimney Sweep

Doug showed up and looked highly disappointed to see me answer the door. Apparently my name didn’t match my appearance. He was even more agitated when he learned he wasn’t there to sweep my chimney. I advised him what the issue was (leaking fireplace) and he grabbed a ladder...spent 30 secs on it..not even climbing all the way to the top of my chimney ...and proceeds to tell me it’ll be $150 for him to silicone it but that may not work...and the only other option is to waterproof the whole chimney for $800. He repeated that the silicone was not guaranteed to work because all fireplace and chimneys leak...I just probably hadn’t noticed it before? He talked at me and through me. I am very big on not spending my money with businesses that don’t respect women or people of color. I did not and will not use Abbey Rd.

Abbey Road did a great job. These guys are honest, professional, fairly priced, and do a great job. Would strongly recommend over the competition.

Doug Ault thoroughly cleaned and inspected my fireplace. I have used him in past years, and have always been pleased. It is very easy to schedule an appointment, and he showed up promptly. A couple of places in my fireplace had cracked mortar, and Doug told me that he could repair it or I could do it myself. He told me exactly how to do it and the materials that I would need. Having done this before myself, I opted to make the repair. Doug is such a pleasant person to do business with and very honest. I highly recommend him!

Doug was very professional, on time, and performed everything that needed to be done to get my wood-burning fireplace up to safety code. We are in the process of moving and there were quite a few repairs we needed in order to pass final inspection. He was very knowledgable about how things needed to be done and explained the process to me in a way I could understand. The whole process took about an hour and a half and he kept everything completely clean. He looked over all aspects of my fireplace and was very honest about what did and did not need to be done. I couldn't be more pleased with his service and will definitely use him when we move into a new house.

They were great to work with. Doug was polite, clean and efficient in his cleaning. Given the work I feel the cost is fair. Cleaned out and inspected the fireplace and adjusted the damper. No complaints, I WILL use them again.

Excellent! Showed up on-time, went straight to work and finished within 45 minutes. Very professional in all aspects! Used clean and well maintained specialized equipment. Swept chimney and removed soot without letting any spill or blow out of the fireplace. Left my fireplace clean and ready for the winter!

They where prompt. Although this is a messy job it was done with the greatest respect for our house and keeping the area as they found it. They came in and got the job done very efficiently. Very please with the services from beginning to end.

Abbey Road arrived promptly and took a look at the chimney from top to bottom. Cleaned the fireplace and made sure to clean any residue that may have been left behind. Great job! Price was a little more than I expected, but didn't know what the average cost was for the area.

Friday 12/06/13 I called Abbey Road Chimney Sweep Company and spoke with Irma who set my appointment for Monday between noon and 5:pm. I told my neighbor we were going to get our chimney checked and she wanted hers done so first thing Monday morning I called Irma to see if Doug could do us both and he could. Irma set our appointments for 2:pm (firm) and Doug was right on time. Together we looked over my fireplace and I pointed out all the things I saw wrong and told him we needed a hat on the chimney roof. We agreed on an estimate of $450.00 less a $10.00 discount for my Angie's List coupon that I presented before he started his work. Doug's appearance and manner are highly professional. He explained everything as he went and answered every question I asked patiently and pleasantly. He had me look inside the chimney to see the damper and explained the rust spots were due to our not having had a cap on top of the chimney to keep the rain water out. He told me a new damper could run as much as $850.00 but assured me ours was still OK and not a safety hazard. He was clean with his work and once he finished you would have never known he had been there. This is the first time our chimney has been serviced and I completely forgot to ask about dryer vent cleaning! So I will be using Abby Road Chimney Sweep Company again and talking to Irma (who has a great personality and wonderful sense of humor) and looking forward to learning about dryer vents from Doug. Doug was prompt, professional, polite, very knowledgable and helpful. Work was quickly and neatly done.

He got here quickly within 30 minutes of my phone call and was extremely professional. The sweep was done within 20 minutes and he diagnosed a few problem spots and pointed them out...had him fix it for a very reasonable price, and he was out the door within an hour. Excellent service...we will definitely use them again!

I contacted them to get an estimate for inspecting and cleaning the chimney and fireplace insert in our new (used) home. When we discussed what I had, rather than send someone out to inspect ($95) only to leaqve us un-cleaned, the lady answering the phone told me that with the type of insert I was describing, they probably could not do the cleaning. This vendor deserves five stars for honestly in dealing with potential customers.

Doug came to the house right on time and I explained that we had just moved into the house from Florida and I had some questions about the fireplaces. He answered them and proceeded to clean all three units. I was not sure if these chimneys had ever been cleaned since there was so much that the house needed when we moved in and he confirmed that indeed they hadn't. The worst one was the one in the family room which had been converted from a wood burning fireplace to gas and was full of debris. He also turned all of them on for me and pointed out that two of them were not working properly and gave me the name and number of a man that specialized in gas lines and fireplaces. He cleaned up the area afterward and when I asked him to check on the dryer vent as well he did so and cleaned it out at no charge. That at least had very little lint in it. I would recommend him and will call him again when I need the chimneys cleaned.

They were excellent. I didn’t dislike anything about them. They were friendly and efficient. They were professional and they worked fast. Their price was reasonable.

I recently bought a 31 yr old fixer upper with a stone fireplace. I called to schedule an appointment and they were able to come out the same week I called. He arrived on time and did a thorough job. They covered the rug and floor for protection. I asked about a down draft in the chimney and he thoroughly explained the reason and offered suggestions how to overcome it. Very professional and thorough from start to finish. I would highly recommend.

Doug called before he came out on a Saturday. He checked the dryer and then the vent itself from the inside and then he went up on the roof and proceeded to remove the equivalent of 2 large squirrel size lint balls from the vent. He said it was one of the worst ones he had ever seen and was suprised our house didn't burn down. Apparently the previous owners never cleaned the vent in the 10 years they lived in the house. Doug cleared the entire vent and all the lint that was blown out throughout the yard. Amazingly my dryer now drys a full load in 20 minutes. I plan on using Doug's services at least once a year to make sure this never happens again. I would never buy a house again that has the dryer vent exiting out the roof verses an exterior wall.
