We were very impressed with them. They were friendly and very professional but we felt that another company had more expertise. Their quote was $13000 for that work. The person who came out was very friendly and professional. We liked him but we just did not like their bid.

The work is not completed yet but parts are on order. I will use them in the future.

Analysis of trouble areas was thorough. Recommendations/upgrades were thoughful but not pushy. Work crews were timely and curtious. They worked steady in the attic on a hot summer day! Follow up was complete and timely. Glad I made the upgrade and selected MK.

Found that existing ductwork was below the current or past requirements for airflow, given the 4-ton unit and dual zone system. Found that the system did not have a required static air pressure relief for a 2-zone system. Found inadequate ducting for required airflow to the second zone. Removed and replaced existing ducting (mostly long-run flex duct) with adequate hard ducting and balanced airflow for efficiency.

Chris Hurley of MK Mechanical came to my house to give me his recommendation for a HVAC unit for a new room we added to our house. He gave me several options to consider and his recommendation for a Mitsubishi split system. He sized the unit based on some unique feature of our home--special windows, trees, southern exposure. He also gave me advice on the electric service necessary for the unit. He gave me a competitive price (these things are not cheap anywhere) but what I appreciated was his professional approach and his indepth knowledge not only of HVAC but contracting issues in general, and especially electrical. He took a lot of time with me to explain his recommendations and answered dozens of questions. MK installed the unit and it has worked very well. It is sized perfectly and economically. Recently, I asked Chris for recommendations for replacing the main unit in our home. Again, he looked at our present system, noted where new units offered benefits and recommended a specific unit. He also noted that because of our relatively low bills that it might be more economical to wait until our present system failed or starts to require frequent service before replacing it. Again, he spent a lot of time with me and answered many questions with patience and great knowledge. He has earned my trust and my respect. I highly recommend MK Mechanical.

I was pleased with the work performed and now, a month after installation, I am pleased with the performance of the system. The workmen performing the installation were very professional and courteous. They came to install the system on the day and at the time promised. Maybe the following should be pointed out. This is taken from a letter from the TRANE company, not MK Heating and Cooling. The American Recovery and Revitalization Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides tax credit (up to $1500) for the installation of Qualified Energy Property for residential heating and cooling equipment. Trane U. S. certifies that the products or system listed below and placed in service from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 meets the efficiency requirements according to AHRI's rating system be eligible for tax credit under ARRA. The letter list, in my case: Furnance Only TUH2C100A9V4VA which was the furnance I purchased. The air conditioning part did not qualify. To me, this means I can only claim the furnance portion (about $700) of the $1500 available from the federal government program. My suggestion to people considering purchasing a new heating and cooling system with the idea of it qualifying for the $1500 rebate, from income tax, is to have the vendor print out a letter from TRANE (they can do this by going on the web directly) stating that the air conditioning unit and furnance qualifies for the total rebate. I would have the vendor do this before making the purchase. I endorse and recommend MK Heating and Cooling for both repair work and for purchasing and installing new systems. For me they did a very good job.

The quote for the air cleaners was handled by a sales person who provided a great amount of information with absolutely no "hard-sell". The information provided was clear, and again, no pressure was applied to make a sale. The tune-up was provided by a service tech, and this was also handled very professionally. The tech arrived when scheduled, and explained exactly what we needed to know about the equipment (we just moved here from FL, so we're not used to gas equipment). The entire service call took approximately (2) hours which was longer than originally estimated, but the cost did not increase due to the additional time. When the tune-up was complete, the tech informed us of the companies service plans, but again did not apply any pressure for us to sign up for a plan. Overall, I was impressed by the companies presentation of facts without any implied pressure to purchase their products or services.

They came out really fast and they were so experienced. They knew exactly what was wrong, they cleaned the unit very quickly, and respectful and stuck with the quote they gave us.
