Gary Merritt has been helping us with our A/C needs for years. He tells us when he can get to us and always gets us back to working right away. His prices are reasonable too. We wouldn't call anyone else when it comes to the A/C.

Gary performed an excellent job in replacing my heating and air with a new Amana system. I was shocked at the speed that he was able to complete this work. We first identified the need for HVAC replacement on Monday, and he was able to install a new unit by Thursday. Gary runs his own business and is the only employee. So, I understand that there are sometimes delays in getting service. He often works long hours to service all his customers. Gary has high integrity, and I trust his judgment and skills.

Gary was a true life saver! He came out to my house during after hours (one evening, pretty late, for an initial inspection and another follow-up/repair visit while I was out of town on a Sunday). His pricing was more than fair, and he was so professional. I will absolutely use him again, if needed, and highly recommend him to friends, families, complete strangers.

He was thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, professional and hard working. He explained everything he needed to do before he did it. He gave us advice on how to fix the downstairs ceiling that has water damage as a result from the leaking AC unit. He was very friendly and easy to talk to about our billing. He very easily could’ve charged us more but he didn’t. We’ve used him before on our rental house and had the same great results. Will continue to call him for our heating and air needs.

We had bought a house in March 2018 with a home warranty. While we were living in the house without A/C in the middle of the summer waiting on the home warranty company to do something, we decided to have Merritt come out and look at the problem. He fixed immediately and for less than $100! Have seen his work with others and know just how hard he works and how ethical he is.

This company replaced our HVAC system 6 years ago. Our thermostat did not fail but needed replacement due to our tenant being unable to operate the "fancy" thermometer we had originally installed. The company has handled service calls and yearly maintenance since the original installation and have always been fairly priced with good quality work. I highly recommend this company.

Went well! Only needed a start capacitor for the compressor fan. Call to finish was about an hour.

Gary has serviced our HVAC unit for several years. He is trustworthy, honest, and efficient. He diagnosed and fixed our problem quickly. He never tries to sell us something we don’t need.

Gary Merritt was not only prompt and professional but he was HONEST. I was previously quoted by another company that it was going to cost me $1,600(+) to replace my blowing motor, labor for installing the motor and labor for uninstalling and reinstalling my furnace since it was "improperly installed". Gary explained that the furnace did not have to be uninstalled to access the motor. I was very pleased with Gary's honesty and quality of work. I am a real estate agent so there will be several instances when I need a good heat and air guy - I have already recommended him to several clients.

He comes every 6 months, fall and winter. When I?m ready for heat again this fall, I will give them a call. He is very, very prompt. When I was ready for air conditioning this spring, even though it was a very busy time for him, he found time to come out and check out the system. I pay him once a year ? I pay him in advance and he takes care of the next one. I think I paid him last fall, when he checked the heating system out, it was $225 for the year.I will continue to use him as long as I?m alive.

Installation was done quickly and everything is working well.

I am a widow and he total took advantage of me not knowing anything about heat and air repair. I contacted Mr Merritt yesterday to give him the opportunity to make things right and at first he said it was all my fault bc I couldn't afford to repair the unit when he got the part but by the re he got the part the compressor stopped working. I texted Mr Merritt to give him another opportunity to make things right and he didn't respond. So I had to go out and by 2 window air conditioners bc I have severe asthma and diabetes and can be without air. I can't have the pollen come in the house. I am really disappointed in Mr Merritt for the way I have been treated.

Excellent. Answered my call and came over promptly and fixed the problem. Took the blower out and looked it over, instead of just saying we needed a new blower (it's an old unit). He suggested lubricating it because that's the least expensive option and would probably take care of things. He didn't have the right kind of oil, and went out and got some. The blower's been running just fine for about a week now. The cost included a capacitor so we'd have one on hand.

He arrived promptly found the problem very quickly and made the repairs very quickly. Mr. Merritt is very much a professional in his business. The cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend him for installation or repairs of heating and cooling systems.

We called Gary Merritt on a Friday afternoon and he was at our house in less than 90 minutes. He determined that our HVAC, which he's been servicing for years, had finally died. Gary helped us choose a new HVAC, gave a quote right there on the spot and left us to discuss our options. We let him know on a Saturday that we wanted to proceed with the quote he gave us and by Tuesday morning he was here on time and got the job done. Gary is professional, honest and takes good care of his customers. For many years he has always been here quickly when we needed him and fixed our HVAC for a very reasonable price. We would not hesitate to recommend Merritt Heating and Air.

The price is for two air conditioners. They are excellent. We had a blow out on our A/C two years ago. It was on a Sunday evening. My husband called them and he was out here at 8 am on the next morning. What is really good is his promptness and honesty. They are timely which is really appreciated up here in Tennessee. If they say they are going to be here tomorrow at 2, they are here. I don't get that from a lot of vendor. They are really fair on price. He is excellent.

Our A/C blower had been making noises for some time, and it finally broke. I called Merritt on Friday Afternoon and he was able to fit me into his schedule for 5pm that night (other providers were booked until Tuesday). He arrived at EXACTLY 5pm, spent some time assessing the situation, and then he went to his 'pick pile' for parts (because all the parts suppliers were closed). When he came back, he did a quick and thorough job- and our A/C is now working better than it has since we bought our home. The bill was surprising as well- much less than we anticipated!

My home air conditioning unit stopped working on Sunday night, June the 14th. On Monday morning, early, I called a local company my family has used for many years, and, for the first time, got an answering service and was told I had been placed on a 'waiting list' and a service tech would call later. (*We're having a bit of a heatwave at the moment and I realized it could be a while; I knew their service people would be very busy and I'm a pretty patient fellow.) WELL.......out of loyalty, I waited three days, until Thursday the 18th, and had received NO call back...no response at all...while the temperature in my upstairs hovered in the mid 90's and was unusable. On Thursday the 18th, I made a great choice in calling MERRITT HEATING & AIR just to try to see if someone would give me a time frame for when I might expect to get the AC looked at. Within an hour of just sending a 'request' through Angie's List, Gary Merritt called me and we arranged for him to come by later that afternoon. I was a happy camper! He was right on time; checked out the unit; found the problem and quickly repaired it. Quickly I was back in business....and cool! He was thorough and professional.....and a heck of a fine fellow! And personally, I very much enjoyed meeting him. He is unquestionably my new go-to guy for all future heating and air problems. Thanks much Gary!

How do you fully evaluate the work of someone who has probably saved your life at least twice? That is what Gary has done. Last fall we had Gary service our HVAC unit. As part of his service routine, he came inside and put a carbon monoxide meter over the heat duct; it started to climb?indicating CO coming into the house. He shut off the gas and found that the heat exchanger had rusted through. He determined that the part was under warranty and promptly replaced it. We had wanted to move from gas to electric for quite some time, and the carbon monoxide issue prompted us to move faster. In April of this year, we asked Gary for a recommendation on a fully electric HVAC unit, and asked him what we needed to do to make the changeover from gas to fully electric happen. He recommended a unit that would meet our needs and also recommended an electrician (Drew Canfield of ACES Electric) . Gary installed the unit on 4/13/2015, and we were able to use the heat and AC that same day (except for the emergency heat function for which wiring had not yet been installed). Within the next few days, the electrician completed the work needed to connect the emergency heating unit. We called Gary, who came right out and did the hook-up. In the process of the changeover, he found that the pipe running from the gas meter to the inside of our house was leaking gas. Gary replaced the leaking gas pipe and capped it off once the gas-to-electric conversion was complete. We love our new unit and are very grateful to be alive! Gary?s professionalism and technical knowledge are outstanding. Would we use his services again? A resounding YES!!!

Called Gary to look at my heater, he came out the next day and got everything resolved (even though we needed some parts), he got me running again the same day. GREAT JOB

After a couple of years of problems our 25+ year old ducted, standard split A/C system finally bit the dust. The unit took acre of our peaked roof sunroom with full windows all around. It had done a fine job but was very loud. I contacted three HVAC companies for estimates. Gary at Merritt Heating and Air was the only one to fully inspect the sunroom and give me an informed, detailed estimate. I had researched ductless, mini split systems and was interested in information on them versus a standard system. I knew they would be quieter and probably a bit more expensive. Gary explained the difference and recommended a ductless mini split in my application. And it would not be too much more than a standard system. I knew from my research that Mitsubishi was the leader in mini split systems and when Gary told me he was a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer installer that kind of sealed the deal. This meant my warranty would be extended with him installing the unit. Gary came out just when he said he would and had the system installed in a little over half a day. He was very professional and courteous. The installation was neat and tidy and he cleaned up completely. He even capped the gas line from the old A/C which was not part of the original estimate. And by adding the surface mount mini split it freed up the closet where the old system was. So, far the Mitsubishi system has worked great. I have been pleased with it's ease of use and performance. From my experience I would highly recommend Merritt Heating and Air especially for the Mitsubishi ductless mini split system.

We are long time customers of Merritt Heating and Air, they are the MOST professional company i've ever used in over 20 years. I called Gary on Friday July 4th (which was supposed to be a holiday) because our main unit was running all the time but wasn't cooling. He was able to work me into his schedule and come out to find that the coil had a big rust spot and was leaking. He looked at the serial numbers, noted that I was under a current Service Contract and scheduled a replacement. He charged the unit with Freon to keep us cool until the new unit arrived. The new coil came in in a few days and we were back to being cool and only running a few hours in the heat of the day. GREAT UNIT, WONDERFUL SERVICE. I was very pleased with the service, the quality of the replacement and the fact that the new parts were covered under original manufacturer warranty.
