From day one our roof leaked. They did respond to our calls and came out to inspect on several occasions. And the leaks seem to stop. I don't know, call it luck on their part, but we found out through this process over the years, yes years, we only get the leaks when it rains with a certain intensity and wind. Unfortunately, when they came all they did was bang a few hammers and pile on caulk around improper flashing. So, with the hail storm and everyone in my neighborhood getting a new roof, I had mine inspected by more than one contractor. Although, I didn't have enough hail damage, both of them pointed out the EXACT same issues of improper work. One actually giggled at the flashing around the chimney. I called Rick Hensley and reported to him the others' assessment. He informed me it would be the first roof they installed improperly. I interrupted him and asked if it was installed correctly, then why is it leaking...? "Oh, it could be other things," he said. What other things? He decided to come by and check it out himself a couple of days later. He got me on the roof and had it all figured out. This leak is because of this minor item...we'll fix that...blah blah blah. I felt I was getting the run around, especially since he kept talking about "all of the hail damage". Well, he said he would be back on Tues. Tuesday came and went, and my calls were not returned. I understand some employee not wanting to do the hard work and blow people off. But this is your business with your name and you still blow people off? Extremely unprofessional and obviously not very good at what he does. My bottom line is this--Hensley and Hipps put on a roof that leaked and they made every effort to shine me on instead of focusing that effort on fixing the problem. I've heard reports of roofers actually calling customers after storms to see how there product performed. Now, that's someone who takes pride and cares. It's construction, mistakes happen. How your contractor deals with mistakes lets you know his pride in his work and his business. I've come to the conclusion that Mr. Hensley has neither.
