They had to tear up the first floor, and put a new one down. When they put the new floor down, and everything buckled within two weeks. So they had to come back, and redo the floor. The quality of the work was poor, as well as the communication. They subcontract to a company called Romanoff Renovations. We have also bought some appliances from them that were not installed properly. I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: They installed 900 square feet of laminate flooring in the kitchen/dining room.

I was not pleased with their level of service at all and it was way up to the top manager. I had to talk to him twice. They thought it was none of their responsibility. It was too bad that I received a damage refrigerator. I purchased it through them, but because it came from the warehouse that they never touched the actual product and they subcontracted from companies that actually delivered to branded appliance people. They thought it was not their problem. I paid $2300 for one refrigerator and it was 30 cubic feet. The previous one was around $800. Their price beats everyones price. I bought a specific brand and it came damaged 5 times, so I had to switch to another brand to get a good quality product. I will use them again, but not for appliances.

The initial purchase of all of the above was on February 15, 2013. That went very well. On our receipt, the work was scheduled to be completed by March 17, 2013. Everything was paid in full on this date. After about 2 1/2 weeks when we had not heard anything from anyone about installation, we went to the store and checked with the design consultant who had completed our transaction. She called the installers while we were present. They had never received the P.O. but if she would send it they would schedule us within a few days and call us. After we had not received the promised phone call within the next few days, I tried to call the design consultant over the next few days but could never catch her in. The store associates I spoke with were not helpful. They did not return calls and seemed unable to retain simple messages with my phone number. I then decided to call customer support at Home Depot. They were very nice & promised to look into the problem. We did end up getting some follow up phone calls from customer support and someone did finally come out and measure for our countertops. This person was polite and efficient. After measurements were taken, we still didn't hear anything about when they were coming to install. I wrote customer service and we called. Apparently there were some problems with the order and they would get them fixed and the installers would come out. On April 10, the installers came out and they had the wrong sizes. Apparently they came with the countertop measurements of the ones we had previously installed. The installers were apologetic, called their office and told us they would put a rush on the countertops and would call us when they were ready. They were finally installed on April 15, 2 months to the day after we paid for them. All of the people who came to the house were polite, professional, and did the job well. We are well pleased with the work. The quality of the work was good and we did not have any problems with the price. I understand delays and problems. I would not even have had a problem with it taking so long if someone had taken the time and effort to keep us informed. I know good customer service and this was not it. Whatever the problem was, we should have had an apology and someone should have routinely called us to let us know of the progress. I do not know whether the delays were because of Home Depot or the subcontractors who installed the countertops. It doesn't matter. We should have been contacted by both of them. We have been putting a lot of money into our house, making improvements and we almost always use our local Home Depot. We will continue to go there for some things but will no longer purchase anything there that requires installation.
Description of Work: Purchase & installation of silestone counter tops with sink cut out. We had previously had some new cabinets put in and new countertops but our older cabinets still had the old countertops. (that purchase & installation went smoothly) We did not want to spend the amount required to get all of the countertops at one time so we waited to get the rest. Also, at the time of this latest purchase, we purchased a dishwasher, and had it installed by Home Depot subcontractors. This installation went very well. We also purchased a new sink and faucet for the kitchen. My husband loosened up the old countertops and did the plumbing work. The installers set the sink in place after installing the countertops.

My husband and I recently began pricing garage door openers when our Genie Blue Maxx began to give us trouble. We have two doors and two openers. Only one was giving us problems, but we decided to replace both, as our Genie's were 17 years old. We researched online with Angies List and thumbed through Angies monthly publications and an add for Precision Door caught our eye when we noticed that it came highly recommended. We gave them a call, asked them to come out and give us an estimate and they did within a day or two. However, there were some miscommunications because we were under the impression that they came prepared to install the openers. Which would have been fine if they had not been so over priced. When we asked Caleb, the serviceman (who was very friendly, I might add) if there was anyway to negotiate the price, he said he was not permitted to do so. We asked if there was someone else we could talk to about the price, and he told us we would have to call the office in the morning, (It was after 6pm when he arrived) or he could sell us a cheaper opener. We had hoped Precision Door would contact us the next day to discuss the matter, but they did not. We waited 3days, no one called. Frustrated, we began searching online for recommended openers and found a few to compare and decided on Chamberlain belt driven openers to replace our spring/screw type which were very noisy. We also found they were available at our local Lenoir City, Tn Home Depot store. We went the next day while running errands and spoke to the man in charge of openers and he was very helpful in assisting us with our choice. He promptly wrote up the work order for the installation, and said someone would call within 24-48 hours to schedule the installation, which they did. They arrived at 8:07 am, (we were scheduled for 8-10am) They worked quickly, efficiently, and even hauled off the old openers, and oiled and greased the squeaky parts of the track which was not even part of the installation. They cleaned any mess and knocked on the door to let us know they were finished and invited us out to go over all the features of the openers and how to use them. They were a husband and wife team from Overhead Door that were subcontracted by Home Depot, and it was amazing how they "clicked" together as a team. They were like gears in a clock. They were super friendly, and were on their way in an hour and a half. We could not be more pleased with Home Depot, their chosen installers, and the product. It is super quiet, loaded with bells and whistles, and works like a dream. We chose the Chamberlain 920 with battery back-up, light sensors, outside entry pad, 2 remotes that can be set to open up to three doors, close itself if you forget, has an extra wall opener for inside the house, and a keypad in the garage that constantly displays the time and temperature, and double lights as well. I'm sure I have forgotten a detail or two, but I think you will find it is a great opener that will meet all your needs and then some. I am also sure that Home Depot in Lenoir City would not let you down either, should you find yourself in need of an opener that comes with great sales people, and installers as well. And $97 per door is not a bad price at all for the quality installation we recieved. We got both openers, plus installation and saved about $170 without having to settle for a cheaper opener. Try a Chamberlain, I think you will like it. And try Home Depot in Lenoir City. I don't think you will be disappointed there either.
Description of Work: Pleasantly Surprised!

Purchased the tops in July. Paid to have our old counter tops removed and told them that we wished to reuse our current sink. The subcontractor came to measure and we were impressed. In a few days the sub called to schedule installation. When he came to install the tops, he determined that the counters were not sufficiently level to install the new tops and we were put in touch with another sub to level the counters. We also did this through Home Depot, paying Home Depot for this service. The leveler came and leveled the cabinets. He told us that he would be back to trim the cabinets after the tops were installed. The counter tops were installed and my wife noticed a chip on the sink that the counter top sub had done when removing it. The plumber also noted a very large crack in the new counter top. The cabinet company then came back to trim the cabinets and did a most terrible job of matching the trim to the wood cabinets After literally weeks of dealing with the local Home Depot folks, I called the Store Manager to complain and he was on vacation. I then called the regional manager and he was not available immediately. I then submitted a complaint on the Home Depot website and eventually got an email from them and a phone call from the regional manager, By now we had been without a kitchen for over two months. The next week the regional manager and the two subs came by to try and remedy the problem. After I told him that so far no one seemed to care about the quality of the work or had even apologized for this terrible job, he did offer an apology. This could go for pages. After three sets of trim, Home Depot finally replacing the sink, and three counter tops, we settled for a mediocre job so that we would not have to deal with them any more. The regional manager did call back once, before the job was completed, to see if we were satisfied, but no one from the Home Depot organization has contacted us since we settled. We are considering attempting to sell the house and we may well replace the counter tops before we put in on the market. We have had both good and bad experiences in home repair and remodeling, but this one was a non-managed nightmare. In the end we were over 90 days without a working kitchen.
Description of Work: Removed old kitchen counter tops, leveled the cabinets, put new trim around the counters due to leveling, and installed new granite tops. We could have purchased the same services at about the same cost from several vendors. One reason that we selected Home Depot was their claim that they would have a "Project Manager" assigned to be sure that the work went smoothly. To this date, I still don't know who that was, or actually wasn't. I am a trained Project Manager and I know what the term means.

We were very, very pleased. They did exactly what they said they would do. The price was exactly what the estimate was. We would use them in the future.
