I think he did a good job. It was kind of frustrating because he sent somebody in advance to look at what I needed done. I had to make an appointment for somebody to come out. I expected him to actually be fixing stuff but the guy that showed up was just like a contractor. He just looked at what needed to be done and left. I had to make another appointment for the actual worker to come out there. He just came yesterday. It took almost a month until he was available again. When he came, he had no idea what needed to be done. He had no supplies with him. He came in and I had to show him again everything that needed to be done. He did a good job. It was frustrating because I had to make two appointments. It took two months to get work done. The appointments were so spread out. The first appointment was pointless. I had to take a day off so they could show up. Because he came yesterday with no supplies or anything, he had to leave about halfway through. He wasted about 35 to 45 minutes to get some basic supplies. He came back and they charged me for that time. I had to pay extra in order to get all the work done. I don't like to pay transportation time. The worker was good but the business and the big deal were not so good.

All doors were repaired in an efficient and timely manner. I just wish it didn't take so long to get someone to come out and do the initial work estimate.

The deal was 1 person for 5 hours or 2 people for 2 1/2 hours. The person that came out to view the job said that they were going to send two people for 2 1/2 hours and then charge 50.00 per hour each person if it took longer than the 2 1/2 hours. It took 1 month for them to schedule and finally come out to my property. It wouldn't be bad, except that they sent one experienced person and one that had to be told what do all the time by the experienced person. If they sent 2 experienced people, I have no doubt that it would have been completed within the 2 1/2 hour time frame; however, it went over another 2 hours so it cost me another 200.00 on top of the printed deal. I would use the experienced guy again, he really knew what he was doing, but I'm not sure that it was worth the extra 200 due to the inexperienced person that was working really did not know what to do and it took an additional 2 extra hours.

Very satisfactory. Larry was punctual and he expertly made the required repairs to these two large, very old, heavy doors and cleaned everything up as well. All work was completed within the agreed time. I supplied the hinges and doorknob assembly, which fortunately were suitable for the job, but I was still impressed that he was able to complete the work in the timeframe.
Description of Work: Two antique residential doors: Interior door needed to have hinges replaced and the door re-hung; exterior, entry door needed installation of a new knob assembly.

Jobs were not simple remodels. I needed some decorative doors I purchased at Hobby Lobby to be installed in place of normal closet doors, which had no hardware and did not fit easily. Other contractors had stated they couldn't do it, but Israel of G & B was fantastic, thinking outside of the box. There was also a toilet area that needed to be enclosed, and it required some creative reworking of the space. Incredibly impressed with the quality of the work, and the level of communication before, during and after the job was completed. G & B went out of their way to make sure I was completely happy. They arrived promptly every day and were well prepared with any and all supplies necessary. At completion of each of the jobs, they cleaned up any and all areas and you couldn't tell they were even there, other than the gorgeous work they performed. Couldn't be happier.

All tasks were taken care of in the allotted time, in a professional manner and with the results that anyone would/should expect from someone that takes pride in his work . Have already bought another to be used on another house we are renovating to rent. Than you Mr. Sharpe and thank you G&B for sending out such a capable associate.

Very prompt with the estimate, and the work was done well and within budget. They initially gave me a window of time when they would be at my house, but then called me to say they were on their way, which enabled me to only take off work for a very short time. Very friendly, even on a beastly hot day! Will definitely use G&B again!

This was a big deal purchase. It was fine. They came on time and everything worked out fine. It wasn't the same material that I thought they were going to use, but in the end it still worked out fine. I did want to make sure it was a beige color. The grommet that was in there previously was kind of like a stone grommet -- like a brown grommet. Theirs was more silicone and that sort of thing. They had come to look at it before so I was surprised that they weren't putting the grommet that I already had in there, but as it worked out the silicone -- I would not accept white or clear -- I did not want the clear, I wanted, like, the color that was in there -- a beige. So we got it worked out and they did it and it was fine. They did a good job. They set an appointment to come out and look at the job in the middle of July. Then they came out a week later, I think, to come in and go ahead and do the job.

The guy who came in to do the work was great! But the guy who came to estimate time was horrible. He told me that it would probably take the worker 3 hours just to do the work and the weatherstripping materials would cost me extra. We finally settled on just doing the one door in the back which needed to be reset. When the carpenter came out he was done in about 15 minutes. I asked him to look at the front door and he did. He put the weather stripping from the back door- which was still functional on the front door and made sure everything was tight. We were still finished in less than 45 minutes and I had paid for 3 hours He didn't have any materials to do the windows so we couldn't do the windows. All in all I would be very cautions about using the company in the future.

They arrived as scheduled and did a wonderful job. They replaced part of the bathroom wall instead of a patch. Thank you. There was an additional charge for this which I gladly paid. We are very pleased with the whole experience with G & B. We will call them in the the future for projects. Very nice people.

G&B did such a good job of coming along side me and helping me with many different projects in my house. Casey pretty much became my general contractor and so that I didn't have to make several different calls. The staff always responded to me promptly and would resolve any question/comment I had. Not sure if Iove my new cubbies or beautiful tile work more!

I purchased their Angie's List deal for a couple of hours of drywall repair to fix a hole around a light switch and smooth out a few uneven and chipped spots on walls. It seems like G&B's normal business hours run about the same as my work schedule during the week, but they worked with me to get the project done a little earlier in the morning so I did not have to take time off from my job. Their workers arrived on time, were polite, and worked efficiently. They even spotted and fixed an imperfection on a low spot of a wall that I hadn't noticed and smoothed that out during the allotted time. They sanded the spots they patched and then vacuumed the work area before leaving. I applied some touch-up paint to those spots the following weekend and am pleased that those walls look better than ever.

The team arrived on-time the day of the job. My entire downstairs was prepped more than adequately by 930am, the entire install of crown molding was complete by early afternoon, and the finishing touches (caulk+paint) were completed by 330-400pm. All of my furniture was moved back into place and all supplies were properly removed in a timely manner. The actual molding job looks fantastic. I plan on using G&B for more crown molding work, in addition to other jobs in the future. A+.

DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS - I REPEAT, DO NOT HIRE! The first meeting with G&B went well. They appeared to be knowledgeable and eager to begin work. Two guys visited my home very briefly to look at the job. I gave explicit instructions on what I wanted done to the kitchen and what my future plans were for appliances and cabinetry. I asked that the walls get removed along with the insulation, and new drywall installed. I showed the two "carpenters" exactly where the new appliances would later be installed, and where the new lighting should be installed. I assumed all of the other details that go along with this type of project would be understood. For example, AFTER the drywall was installed, they did not remove the old stove outlet (even though they knew the new location of the stove). They just installed drywall around it. They even kept old outlets in their same location even AFTER knowing that cabinites and appliances were getting relocated to those same locations (who would keep old outlets behind where new appliances and cabinetry will later be installed??). After the "Electrician" installed the new lights, I told the "Carpenters" that the "Electrician" did not put the canned lights in the spots that we discussed together the prior day (which I had to leave work). Although that was fixed, it was a hassle to get the "Carpenters" back into the home to fix it, and I was made to feel like it was my fault. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the hassles of the lights in the wrong spot, the outlets in the wrong spot, the drywall not getting a 3rd finishing coat, and after I kindly reminded them that these were topics we already discussed, I was threatened with the company not completing the rest of the work (they had at least one more finishing coat to complete on the drywall). Also, at the very end, I was charged for this "Company" having to rent a dolly to move the appliances to my garage, and I was charged for the "Company" having to remove the front door to get the appliances out of the house. I already had a dolly (which they knew), and I offered to move the appliances but I didn't because they told me they would do it, no problem. In fact, their exact response was "We are now your customer". Unfortunately, it appears these guys only wanted to demo the kitchen and throw up drywall without considering the details that were explained to them during our first meeting. In the end, now I am left with no responses to my requests to have them finish removing the stove outlet and repairing that piece of drywall, as well as moving lights that are STILL in the wrong place. Their response to me was that these added details were not included in the original bid and they will need to be added to a new project (which they said that they would be glad to provide an estimate). I have saved all text messages that will confirm my statements in this complaint. I have contacted this "Company" 3 times for that estimate and I have received no response. I am currently filing a BBB complaint, as well as contacting Angie's List to have this company removed from this website. I paid over 5800.00 to these Detroit fools who call themselves "Carpenters" and call G&B a "Company". Save your money and do the work yourself, or just simply find a legitimate, licensed & insured contractor. These guys are nothing but poorly skilled handymen, at best.

Response from G&B Carpentry
At G&B Carpentry we take our reviews, concerns and complaints very seriously. It allows us to grow as a company, sharpen our skills and also provides motivation to continue satisfying our clients. Most of our clientele are repeat clients. Retention for our company is highly important to us simply because it convinces us and others that we provide quality work consistently. We are very proud of our A+ rating from our 200 reviews. We welcome and embrace our clients that express concerns about any work performed. We aim to receive 100% satisfaction for all clients. Give us the opportunity to service you and you will join our very satisfied clients and become a repeat customer. With this particular customer, we worked diligently to address all his concerns and request. As he became extremely demanding with several additional request outside of scope, he made it difficult to execute and complete what was on the original contract. Upon completion of the project, the final payment was not received in a timely manner. We reserve the right to refuse to accept additional jobs from irate clients as well as clients that insist on using insulting language and those that refuse to pay on-time. Thank you for your interest in our company. We look forward to creating your dream remodel or making your home more comfortable and beautiful.

The folks at G&B were great. After my purchase I was immediately notified from G&B. They worked with my unusual schedule. First a person came out to exactly see what I needed done. G & B have an excellent and professional crew that meet all my needs. They were respectful of my home and took care to cover up and clean up. Casey had great suggestions and is very knowledgeable. He is an asset and is a "Can do kind of guy"! The only reason I did not give A's on everything is that communication and expectations on the schedule and work to be done for each day should be provided ahead of time. Most customers, like me, don't understand the process and may not be as accepting as me. I would highly recommend G & B Carpentry. However, you should request a detailed schedule of hours to be worked each day and what type of work will be performed and completed.
Description of Work: G 7 B removed a partial wall between kitchen and great room. They drywalled the exposed area as well as the hallway ceiling after removing an old louvre fan. They installed exposed header beam & matched stain to existing ones, moved light switch & plug, & removed track lighting & installed new pendant lights. They painted a bathroom, entrance, hallway, great room, and kitchen.
