They built a 2-car carport for me and later built one for my neighbor. The design had to match up with other carports of my condominium neighbors. However, once the six support posts were set and they started on the roof joists, Walt, the owner of Cumberland Garage Builders, made his crew stop. Even though other carports had been built with joists spanning approximately 20 feet, he felt that was not the best way to build the ceiling and roof structure. He felt that over time the ceiling and roof would sag and not be sound. He then ordered engineered trusses to be manufactured. This delayed the process about a week, but the overall result was a much stronger and more stable structure. I was very impressed that he made the decision to go with the engineered trusses, which made my carport much stronger. I would never have thought of this myself. Plus, even though this added to his cost, Walt did not charge me more than he had originally quoted. I definitely have and will continue to recommend Walt and Cumberland Garage Builders.
