The Premier Handyman

In spite of a few surprises (including a last minute change of plans) that set the timeline back a little bit (expected with any construction and not the fault of the contractor but were handled professionally) everything went well. The tile is beautiful. The deck is perfect A great company that did a great job!

Here are the email conversations b/t Corey (owner) and myself: Corey -Was the deck cleaning included in the $210? If so, would you please break out the cost of that? Thanks.; Pat. Yes it does only because we work by the hour. However. We were there for 3 hours total length, and i onky billed you for 2.5 total hours and gave a 45 discount. Id be glad to send them back with an appropriate power washer very soon to finish that task for you as well.; Thanks, Corey. I understand working by the hour. And, I so much appreciate the consideration! I also understand that, when a crew shows up without proper equipment to do a job, that job needs to be done another day. Your foreman said, when he saw there was pressure washing to be done he realized he didn't have a pressure washer but remembered that his friend had given him an electric one. Well, the electric one has a broken wand (which the foreman knew). My precious water was run a good 2 hours with hardly any of the deck being cleaned. After they left, I noticed that the hose & spigot at the front of the house had been used. No one is to use that spigot - it uses twice as much water. I can't wait to see what the water bill + waste water bill will be - waste water being charged out at double the water rate. The kitchen cabinet - I am thrilled to have that door back in its place! The dead bolt on the upstairs back door is closing much better. On this same door, did the foreman tell you about the center load-bearing post? The bottom of it has rotted away, leaving no load-bearing. I feel it's OK to patch another piece of wood in - as long as the new piece is rot-resistant and has received a coating of base sealant. The brick moulding at the downstairs back door, outside - looks wonderful. The foreman even painted it. The inside front door - the door is not closing properly. When hanging properly, the door clicks closed - it does not need to be pushed to get it closed. One can hear the wood squeaking. I told this to the foreman - he thought it would get used to the new opening, since the door had not been opened for 10 months. He said if it didn't get better, he would have to "pop" out the door. He thinks he's going to shave off the hinge side leading edge of the door - and - not even seal/paint it, but leave it open to the elements. Not in this house! The young guy (apprentice?) who was left to hang the pictures - oh my! He needs to listen & understand what someone is telling him. Twice, I told him, the top left corner of the small, vertical sticky was marking the top, center where the first vertical frame would go. He didn't go by the sticky, as I had instructed; he hung the top of the first vertical frame way above the marking and put 3 holes in the wall at the top of the frame. (There are 2 hanging tabs in the back of each of those frames, and they are around 4" below the top level of the frames.) I had him move that top frame - and he complained how difficult it was for him to get the hangers in the wall. The foreman had to show him what to do. Now, there are 3 holes about an inch above the frame that can be seen. Am I to be left with that??? When the foreman asked me what needed to be done, I had mentioned that I thought it strange that they would come to a job site without a list of repair items to be performed. But, he did say that he saw pressure washing on the list. ????? The foreman used the recycling bin for his personal garbage. I had to empty the bin & clean it, otherwise all the recycling materials would have been refused. Just yesterday, when I went to use an old garbage can next to the recycling bin, I found all the brass screws in the bottom. I was happy to loan my drill bit set to the cause of mounting the kitchen cabinet door. There was one or 2 extra bits that I had collected over time, that did not fit into the box and were lying loose inside it. Now, I am left with many other, much larger, drill bits that, obviously, do not belong in the box. And, many of the smaller diameter bits are gone. Hmmmm???? The foreman told me he would haul away the debris, which the City requires. The debris is still here, along with a paint can that he said he would just put with the other items to be disposed. To recapitulate: 1) the front door needs to be addressed - talk to me!; 2) the mess above where the first vertical picture frame was hung needs to be addressed; 3) the deck cleaning has to completed - with a proper pressure washer; 4) remove the debris & paint can; 5) I need information on the deck door load-bearing post - talk to me! Please let me know what you intend to do re: #s 2, 3 and 4. Talk to me re: #s 1 and 5. The front door will need something other than what has been done. But, I will not allow someone to plane any of the door wood just to make it fit. The fit has never been an issue; the issue has always been - why did someone before my ownership feel the need to chisel out the top & center door hinges; something has been happening to that opening long before I got here. The door is mine - I had it replaced - and things were fine until the top hinge side began drifting. I snugged up screws until I was blue in the face. CAC did a Mickey Mouse job by breaking off wood match sticks and putting them in the screw holes. I replaced screws three times with longer & greater width screws - all to no avail. I will get a check off to you, as soon as #s 2, 3 and 4 have been addressed. Since the deck cleaning is included in the $210, I will assume you understand why I will not be paying for that until the job is completed. I know better than to assume it will be completed - after you have received the $210. By paying $210, I would be giving my approval on the job, as you left it. Please let me know your intentions. Thank you, Corey! Corey's response: Pat. This isn't an issue where you can decide to pay for work already completed.. The bill is due upon receipt. Period. The work has been done, and we work by the hour. I gave u a significant discount to compensate for the time lost by the mishap or two... The bill is due immediately. We can set up additional time and we can fix the issues at hand, no problem at all. However the bill must be paid in full before i agree to schedule any more work. This isnt a gig where u can decide when your going to pay the bill. A lot of work was done, i squeezed you on our schedule to try and help some of the major issues you had, now your being uncooperative. Thata not fair at all ! We've worked together in the past, so you should know we will take care of you n.p. A lot of things got fixed and properly. If the other things would of got done, your bill would be more than what it is now being we work by the hour. So. In closing, you're only paying for work that has already been done, nothing that wasnt completed. I'd appreciate payment for the work completed, then we can proceed to schedule a few hours to tighten everything up for you . Shouldn't take much longer at all. I can get someone to finish the deck for you n.p within about 10 days or so.. But the work already performed would need to be paid prior. ------------------------- You see, the deck was not completed (#3 above) -hardly begun, actually. He claims "the work has been done" but, yet, he will return to complete the deck pressure washing and address the holes in the wall above where the top vertical picture was hung (#2 above). There is a City law requiring that all debris be removed from the property (#4 above). There is a check for $210 waiting for Corey, when the original job, for which I was charged, is completed. ------------------------ It hurts me to make this a public posting, but Corey has determined that I should pay for work not completed "So. In closing, you're only paying for work that has already been done, nothing that wasnt completed." (If the cost for pressure washing had been broken out, separate from the other items, I would have deleted that amount and paid the remainder.) - b/c they didn't come prepared to pressure wash and, b/c the young guy hanging pics did not listen to what I had told him - leaving exposed holes where they should never have been. Unfortunately, I cannot "show" a door squeaking b/c wood is rubbing against wood - but more work, in an attempt to correct some unknown/unseen problem, will be an additional charge. -------------------------- Corey needs to be a professional: 1) make an appointment to address #s 2 & 3 above; 2) complete the deck pressure washing; 2a) do something proper re 3 holes above top vertical frame; 3) pick up the debris (he doesn't need an appointment for this - the debris is next to the wood pile at the foot of the driveway) I am more than happy to amend this review, should that be Corey's wish - after he addresses the incomplete deck pressure washing, doing something proper with the 3 holes above top vertical frame, and removing the debris from the back driveway.

I've used these guys before and they are wonderful. They always show up when they are supposed to and finish as promised. I've recommended them to a friends who had a significant bathroom remodel which she need to have completed before the holidays. They finished her job on time and she was also pleased with their work.

Extremely knowledgeable and very efficient. Corey and his team did outstanding work on each project. He and all of his team have always been GREAT to work with. They're advice has been spot on every time. I look forward to working with them on my next project.

Amazing! I was left in a lurch by another contractor who stopped showing up and did not complete a job he was contracted to do. I called Corey in a panic...I needed the work done ASAP because my in-laws were coming into town. Although he was booked out a few weeks, he actually came over personally early one morning to work on my project and got everything done and ready for fixture installation in a matter of hours. I actually ended up using him and one of his helpers for a few other small things that needed to be finished as well. He was very responsive, reasonably priced and professional. Will use him again in the future!

All the work is great. The painting turned out to be huge job and so we weren't able to get as much done as we wanted since they charge per hour, not by the job, but the work that was done we are very happy with.

Project went very well! Corey and his crew provided cost effective options for our issues, acquired the materials, and got the improvements done. They were working in a small marina, on the docks and roof.

Corey and his crew did an excellent job. They were pollite and arrived ready to work. Showed up on time and the job was finished rite on schedule. Clean up was great! Very pleased with the work Corey has done for me. I would definitely call him again for any future work.

Corry and his crew are Great but overlook some details on completion. This is a second home. We live about 8 hours away so we were really depending on Corry and crew to do this job without our presence. Corry notified us that the job would be complete on the scheduled date. We drove up to look at the completed job. The work was of very high quality and the cleanup of the house was good. As is to be expected with such a large job there were a couple of oversights; one outside door had not been painted inside or out and the 2 pair of shutters on the front of house were painted the wrong color. these issues were brought to Cory's attention and he said he would correct them. We had to return to our primary residence. The day after Corry was to correct these issues my relator took pictures of the house, 3 of the 4 four shutters were corrected the 4th shutter was white! Had to call Corry again to get the final shutter to match the other three! He did agree to go himself that day and correct the shutter and mail the keys to us. he sent a photo of the completed job, it looks good.

Both before and since the work done by "The Premier Handyman" I have had the pleasure of having work done by professionals who care more about the quality of the work they do, are more responsive and understanding of customer input, charge less for those services, and more willingly accept responsibility for what they do and don't do. In addition, these professionals have been able to do very satisfactorily some work that "The Premier Handyman" was unable or unwilling to do.

I am very appreciative of the outstanding work provided to me by Corey and his team. Corey is extremely knowledgeable and professional and his team was a pleasure to work with. My biggest project for Corey was installing two large gable vents onto a two story siding house. Simply put, when they were finished it looked as if they were in installed when the house was built. Incredible work. Everything else they worked on was done equally well. Corey had an informed and accurate answer (based on an obvious wealth of experience) for every question I threw at him ... and I had a lot. Structural work on a house is not something to be taken lightly. I am very glad I chose Corey and team for the project.

Corey & his staff were excellent! Very professional & courteous. Quality repair & fair price. We had our house sided and new doors installed last fall. Not realizing the new door the contractor suggested was significantly smaller leaving a good 8" plus gap around the new door frame. The guys came in and repaired the wall and you can not tell the difference between the old wall & new. It looks awesome! They also tore down and rebuilt a retaining wall. They also caulked my new windows. They worked hard from 9am to 7pm only taking a brief 30 minute lunch! I am so impressed and will definitely have them come back.

Arrived on time as promised. Both men very professional. Asked for specifics as to how we wanted each task done, and then confirmed that we were satisfied with each task. Worked continuously and energetically. We never thought they were dragging it out to pad the billing.Cleaned up everything they worked on. Would use again without hesitation.

Arrived on time and went to work immediately. Very professional. Left work areas clean. Made sure that I was happy with work performed before leaving. I have several other projects planned and have already scheduled another appointment. A+ service in every way!

Corey was very responsive to come out and do an estimate within a week of my initial request for work. The work was scheduled and two workers (who had been here before) arrived promptly at 9am and began work. They were very respectful of my four week old newborn at home as well. They took care of all supplies and labor. I felt very comfortable with the workers as they had been here before several months ago to install a bathroom fan and I had left them alone in the house while I had an appointment to go to. Its great as a stay-at-home mom when you can find workers you can trust in your home whether you are home alone or away. They do good work for very reasonable rates.

I set up an appointment for an estimate. Cory arrived promptly and gave me a very accurate estimate for work the work I wanted. I contacted him again to add some additional painting work. A date was set for the work to begin. I confirmed the date a week before and the workers showed up promptly on that date. Charles and Randy were very professional, polite, and were able to answer any questions or concerns I had. I was appraised of the progress throughout the entire process. I felt the flooring and painting jobs were excellent. The work was done quickly and neatly and they cleaned up each day before leaving. The work was completed on time and the cost of the job was what I had been quoted. I really appreciated that I had added additional work after the estimate and that was able to be accomplished all in one job. I would certainly recommend The Premier Handyman to anyone and certainly will use them in the future when I have any work that I need done.

Handymen were very prompt and courteous. Did good work. We were very happy with the look of our new bathroom floors. They were easy to work with,showed up when they said they would. Reasonably priced. We would definitely use The Premier Handyman again.

Corey visited us for the initial visit to go over our list and was very professional and punctual. Corey's team worked on our list on 2 different dates and completed all items in a timely manner. His guys were professional and personable. Mounting the mantel on our brick fireplace was the most challenging task because of the soft mortar in between the bricks, but they did not give up. They were determined to find a solution and they were successful. Corey is responsive and fair and I would highly recommend them.

Corey was great to work with! Others turned me away saying the job was "too small" or they just didn't show up/respond after "consulting their schedules." Not Corey. He showed at our agreed upon time after calling ahead of time. He was eager to do the work I needed and was extremely professional. He was very detail oriented, neat and cleaned up after completing the job. I've hired handymen in the past that I had to "hand-hold" through simple tasks. Not the case with Corey. He took control of the job from the start, worked quickly, and was reasonably priced. This was a very pleasant experience! He'll be my go-to guy from now on!

I have an above ground pool that I wanted to have a deck encircling it. I had an existing deck going to the pool but it just was not big enough. Corey and his crew completely encircled the pool with a deck, built a hatch to cover the pool pump and skimmer area, and built stairs with a handrail to exit the deck. I told Corey that I wanted the deck to come to just under my pool's top rail and to butt up to the house with a set of stairs to exit into my yard. They built an awesome deck with the support 4x4s set in concrete and set the deck frame 16" on center for added strength. They attached to my existing deck for a seamless flow from one deck to the other. I went from an 11x 22 deck to an approx. 35 x 50 deck!! Now I have the room to entertain like I want!! They listened to what I wanted and built it exactly like I asked. Corey is very easy to work with and listens to what you want....then he works his magic and voila!!!

The premier handyman is my go to. They sent a crew out and they took care of it and there were a lot of holes! Their efficiency and punctuality can't be beat. They are my go to handyman.

They hung several pieces are wall art on the walls, repaired the toilet, installed drapes. Nice work.

Identified the problem for the slightly warped floors and fixed the problem through better insulation.

A+. It took less time and less money than was estimated. Will use again in the future. Showed up exactly when they said they would be there.

They showed up on time every time (even in the snow). These guys do great work and we were very pleased. They were professional and wonderful to work with.
