Smokey Mountain Deck Builders were amazing! Some issues came about with rotting wood within my house, but it did not interfere with the project one bit. They quickly replaced the rotting wood, and still managed to finish the project ahead of time. These guys are great and I highly recommend them. I know who I’ll be calling when I have another project come about!

Excellent. The design and construction is high quality with attention to detail. The crew was professional and friendly. The work was completed on schedule (in spite of some extremely cold weather) and the post construction clean up was thorough.

PROs Prior to contacting Smoky Mountain Deck Builders (SMDB), I had obtained five estimates to have my old deck deconstructed and a new, improved deck built. All those estimates took weeks to obtain, and some even required reminders from me that I still was waiting for the estimate. Although I requested all estimates to include specific materials and labor estimates, all but one of the estimates consisted only of a single dollar amount, making it impossible to compare the estimates. After that, Nick, from SMDB, met with me and made a very professional presentation, presenting me with copies of his insurance, contractor's license, surety bond, and reference lists containing reference contact telephone numbers. He provided to me some better ideas for my deck project and, about an hour after his presentation, and even before leaving my residence, he provided a reasonable and detailed estimate of the materials and labor required for the project. Compared to my prior experiences, I was impressed. The construction crew was experienced, friendly, and professional, and they were very customer-service oriented. They worked hard every day they were on the job, even under trying weather conditions. The finished work product clearly revealed it was done by craftsmen who used quality materials and did not resort to any noticeable shortcuts. Their intent was to please the customer. Another small but important thing was that the crew cleaned up the work area very well each day after their work. Was my deck constructed perfectly? No. Did everyday go without any homeowner concern? No, of course not. However, I always was certain their efforts were directed to building the best deck they could in a way that also satisfied me, the customer. This is an honest company that does what it says it will do. CON If you are in a rush, this is not your company. Quality work takes longer and is in demand. Because of that, this company stays scheduled far in advance. However, In my opinion, the wait was well worth it.

Excellent, can't find anything bad to say about this group. Nick, Gina, Flip and crew were all fantastic. They were professional and obviously take a lot of pride in what they do. From the initial visit to the finished product we could not have been more pleased with the entire process. This project went how every construction or renovation project should go.

The company's input on the new deck design was very good. Permits were obtained on time and company worked very well with the town building codes authority. Work was done on time. Workmanship was excellent and everyone in the company took pains to make sure we were happen with the result.

Good discussion of what we were considering mostly with a new employee who wasn't very knowledgeable. We passed the relevant information on to the estimator when he arrived and he went to his truck and sketched his idea for the deck and included cost estimate and some options. I wasn't expecting a blueprint, but based on the preliminary offer I expected a more finished design than a pencil sketch.

Prior to commencing work, Nick provided an informative and organized pre-job discussion in my home; proudly displaying examples from his extensive work portfolio. He also addressed my questions concerning construction materials, installation techniques, expected timelines, and estimated costs. He then provided me with a thorough cost estimate for the removal of the old (and slippery) ceramic entry tiles, including rebuilding the entry platform and steps; along with the installation of new tile flooring. Additionally, the estimate included the installation of new step rails; along with an indoor programmable controller for the strip LED lighting designed to highlight the custom Laura Goff Designs (865-310-7311) etched glass railing panels. Should I require future deck or tile work - I intend to contact Smoky Mountain Deck Builders first - simply because they provide the consumer with quality workmanship and a finished product that is guaranteed to meet or exceed your expectations

My deck looks great, and several people have commented in how well it was constructed. The price was completely fair and inline with what a deck should cost in our area (I received quotes from other companies that were hilariously inflated). I would definitely hire Smoky Mt. Decks again!

The whole process was very smooth. The crew kept me informed about progress and they were all very professional. I LOVE my new deck. It looks fabulous. The level of craftsmanship far exceeded my expectations!

The job sounded amazing on paper and after completion is well beyond our wildest expectations. We were given pictures of prior jobs and had a good idea of how everything would look, however the beauty of the EPAY wood once it was finished made an excellent building job truly a masterpiece in our opinion. We have a dark red brick home which is now complemented by a dark red wood and natural finish on our western cedar deck. The crew supervised by Flipp was extremely professional, organized and worked extremely well together. They lunched on the property in their mobile van and worked throughout the work day, always cleaning up after themselves. The company also had Gina as their customer liason who would visit and go over paperwork and check up regularly with us on the progress of the project and for feedback after the work was completed. The owner of the company was present at completion to inspect and was very responsive to fixing any imperfections that we noted after the job was completed. We are completed delighted with the work done on our deck and look forward to enjoying the lifetime of our deck and being able to do more outdoor living and entertainment at our home.

The crew was professional in duties and work ethic. They were creative in the design of our project which was treated as a work of art and unique in its design, practical in function and enhanced the existing structure and property. The crew is talented, friendly and worked very well together. It was a wonderful experience.

They did a great job. I would give them an A plus rating. They work Saturdays and weekends and got it done in no time. Their price was middle of the road, it was right in the middle. We got multiple estimates and we felt like some of the contractors missed the quote low and we had one contractor that came in at like probably nearly like 75 percent more. So they were right smack dab in the middle and they just had good references. We checked them out and they were licensed, bond, and insured. They just did a better job. Just the little things they did made all the difference. They were here everyday at 7:30. As soon as the sun rose, they were working. We plan to use them again.

SMDB did a good job with our project. The finished product was just as described and looks great.

I cannot say enough about the quality of this deck. You never really know how it will turn out until it is finished and this deck is true work of craftsman’s art. Stephen Potts, the deck building team supervisor was a man of great building experience, and a true expert carpenter. This shows in the quality of deck. My wife and I are completely pleased with the finished product and we totally recommend Smokey Mountain Deck Builders without reservations for any deck building needs. They are the best. I would also like to say thinks to Gina Reicher, Client Relations, for her work keeping the project going smoothly. When they were building our deck I learned that they build about 50 decks per year and that, at that time, they had a 53 deck backlog. This says something about the quality of their decks. SMDB also handles Synthetic decks, porticos, screened in structures, garden enclosures, fancy fencing, all with or without all types of roofs and similar projects.

Nick and his team really went the extra mile to rebuild our deck in a short amount of time. We live overseas most of the year and didn't realize our deck was in such bad shape until we came home for the summer. We had less than 3 weeks to get the work scheduled and completed before we had to go back overseas. Even though Smoky Mountain Decks was already scheduled out until December, they made room for us and managed to finish our deck within days of our departure. The new deck is well built and looks fabulous now. I was impressed by the professionalism of the crew and their building expertise. They measured everything to exact precision and had clever solutions for working around defects in our original house construction that affected the deck (like exterior walls that were off by up to 3/4 of an inch in places). Once the guys were on the job, they really flew and were able to finish it much faster than we expected. We really appreciate the hard work these guys put into making us happy. Started the job early and finished on time and on budget. The crew was both efficient and professional. AWESOME!!!!!

Nick was prompt for our initial appointment and flexible with changes in the design that we requested. Once we finalized everything and the supplies came in, the build went great! Between the team lead, David, and team members such as Brandon, and Gina who is involved in sales, design and coordination of the various projects - everyone was a delight to work with. They met their commitments and kept us updated on the status of the work and supplies. When finished, they cleaned up - including washing off the new deck - and put all the items that had been on the old deck onto the new deck, including the new grill mat we purchased. We are looking at using them for a rental house as well so, yes, we will definitely recommend them!

Nick and the crew at Smokey Mountain Decks completely exceeded my expectations. When I started this project, I wasn’t sure about anything as far as design, materials, etc. All I knew was that I had to replace my 12-year-old deck that was slowly but steadily rotting away under my feet. Nick brought a tremendous amount of creativity and expertise, coming up with some great ideas and designs that I never would’ve thought of. He answered all my questions and provided me with a complete range of estimates using different materials, so that I had all the info I needed to make decisions within my budget. The work was completed on time and everyone kept me informed and updated throughout the entire project. The result was a beautiful and solid as a rock Trex deck that has wowed everyone who’s seen it. I felt very good about the first contractor who came out and was ready to go with him, but Smoky Mtn Deck Builders was already scheduled so I decided to go ahead and compare. Nick gave me an estimate on the original project and was about the same price, but was doing more new replacement and less renovation of existing steps and rails. He also took the time to ask me what our goals with the project are and gave me some suggestions. The best suggestion was to cover the entire upper deck. Admittedly it is more expensive than our original project, but it suits our needs much better and adds more value to the home should we decide to sell. Once we moved in that direction we wanted to consider several options for expanding the deck, the type of wood or composite to use, etc. He provided quotes within 24 hours for all the project variations we discussed as well as good advice. Once we agreed on the plan and had a final estimate we scheduled the project about 2 months out. That is when the company really proved themselves a cut above most contractors. First, they advanced the schedule earlier by a week. Flip and his crew were consistently here by 7:30AM and worked till 6:30 or later and they cleaned the worksite every day. Every one of the men I met were dedicated to getting the job done well and timely. Smoky Mtn. Deck Builders are passionate about building great decks… and nothing else. They are truly craftsmen, easily the best contractors I have ever worked with in 25+ years of homeownership. Flip and Nick have followed up after the project was complete to be sure everything is fine.

Everything went extremely well. We absolutely love the work that was done. It looks great. Ray and his crew did a wonderful job and we couldn't be happier !!
