The original installation appeared to go well. The company arrived as scheduled and completed the work. The initial installation seemed fine during the summer when the lake level was constant. Unfortunately, as the dock floated out during the Fall, one of the posts for the cabling system began to bend the metal framing of the dock. On 11/26/13, I notified the company that the cable post was tearing away from the dock. I asked them to repair the installation as soon as possible so as to avoid any further damage. I don't recall that the company made any response to me at that time. I tried to contact the owner, Jason Martin by phone, but he did not return my calls. The damage began to get worse. Eventually, I was able to speak with Mr. Martin by phone on 2/3/14. He indicated that he would try to fix the dock in the next couple of weeks. At that time, he did not indicate in any way that he disputed that he should fix the damage as a warranty item. I sent additional photos to him by email showing the nature of the damage and the fact that the damage was getting worse. On February 19, 2014, Martin emailed me and indicated that he felt that the damage to my dock was a result of the original dock construction and not related to his installation work. I notified Martin that I felt that the repairs were part of his obligation to install a system that would work on my dock. I am not the dock expert - he claimed to be the dock expert. I feel strongly that it was Mr. Martin's obligation to design and install a system that worked with my existing dock - nothing was concealed from him, and I did not instruct him to do or not to do anything different than he proposed. The scope of work was totally within his control. However, in an effort to get the dock repaired before there was any further damage, I responded on 2/19/14 that I would agree to pay for the materials that Martin said were needed to reinforce the dock if he would supply the labor and equipment at no cost. Based on that compromise, I asked him to proceed with the repairs. As of 3/10/14, Martin had still not repaired the dock. I asked for an update on when the work would be done. On 4/5/14, I notified Martin that the cable had broken completely loose from the dock and emphasized that the repair needed to be completed immediately to avoid further damage. On 4/25/14, I went to the lake hoping to see the completed repairs. To my dismay, no repairs had been performed. In fact, the cable system had now failed completely. The cables appear to be limp and are not serving any purpose. My dock was essentially floating free on the lake. Fortunately, someone had taken one of my old cable lines and tied the dock to the shore - otherwise, it could have just floated away. I called Martin on 4/25/14 asking why he had not repaired the dock. It was now 5 months after I first notified him of the problem. He simply said that he was too busy on other lakes installing new docks. He did not offer any help to me. He did not offer to come and look at the damage. He did not offer a schedule to perform the repairs. I lost the call due to a bad cell connection. I then emailed Mr. Martin and advised him that I was going to post the above history on Angie's List. He responded for the first time at that point that he had previously sold the company to Cris Huling. I contacted Mr. Huling who was very professional on the phone and agreed that he had purchased the company and that he would make the repairs to the dock. On May 7, 2014, Mr. Huling committed to perform the repairs as soon as he could get to it - which he said would be about a week. As of the date of this post - two months later - Mr. Huling has still not repaired the dock. I initiated contact with him several times and he repeatedly promised that he will do the work in about and quot;2 weeks.and quot; It has been more than two weeks since our last conversation - no repairs have been attempted and Mr. Huling has ignored my last emails and phone calls. At this point, it seems that Shoreline has no intention of repairing their work. Based upon my experience, I do not believe that Mr. Huling or Mr. Martin are trustworthy. Anyone considering Shoreline should be forewarned that Shoreline made promises to me that they have failed to honor. I selected Shoreline because the company represents itself as (1) having a special cable system design, (2) doing things and quot;one way . . . heavy and built to last, and quot; and (3) being very responsive. I made clear from the outset that the new cable system was an option for me. I did not want to pay for the system unless they could make it work on my site. After the system failed, I trusted Mr. Martin and Mr. Huling's continuing assertion that they would come and repair the dock. It now appears that his installation has been a complete failure, and the company is not making any effort to stand behind its product. My dock is worse now than it was before I paid Shoreline to perform their work. I will have to find another contractor to fix the damage and have no option at this point but to seek legal remedies to recover the money that I have wasted with Shoreline. This is not how I like to do business, and I am extremely disappointed in the way that this has worked out. My experience with Shoreline has been a disaster.

This is the second time we have used Jason and Shoreline. Both times he fixed problems that were done by poor dock builders before. We had extra costs on this project because he had to take apart the poor job someone else did. Jason then put in a better structure and new composite boards for our new dock area. Both were done on time and were excellent. Jason is very easy to work with and has excellent insight on how to fix problems.

Waiting for the Council to make a decision. Shoreline Docks is a company I would highly recommend!
Description of Work: Jason and Robert came out and looked over our existing dock systems we have in Camp. We knew that the floats needed replacing and the structures needed repairs in a few areas. They were very informative and took all the time necessary to completely check everything and offer us ideas that we had not thought of. They were very professional in appearance and knowledge. We will have the quotes soon and I am hoping the Council hires them.

Jason Martin responded to our request to quote us for the repair to our sinking dock immediately. (same day) We had the same need a year earlier and another dock company "repaired" and charged $4000. and within a yr it was starting to sink again that Other company said too bad.... Jason explained the process needed to refloat the dock very thoroughly. Very extensive and possibly dangerous job. We had another bid as well, and the other bid came from a company that said it cant be done. Our dock is a very solid and heavy dock with concrete platform. We didnt want to hassle with trying to get rid of it and with what Jason did to refloat it, it is very solid now! He assured us that its guarenteed and that it will be floating for good now. on top of the awesome Job done, Jason has an amazing nature. Just one of those people you know you can trust. Awesome Character and very hard worker. He did the work personally with his crew and seemed to strive at the challenges he faced with our dock.
