Overall, remodel went fairly well. Shae and her team was very responsive and easy to schedule an appointment with. Had initial meeting, on-site visit to home to discuss remodel ideas, and was provided a follow-up appointment 1-2 weeks later which included physical ideas and 3D computer modeling of layout. Material and design selections were made, and they provided us with recommendations of several contractors to talk with to discuss hiring to conduct the physical build. Throughout 10-week process, Shae and staff periodically checked in to discuss process, as well as made several on-site visits. Following remodel, furniture was purchased from her store, and delivery was made rather quickly thereafter. Was happy overall with the use of Shae Designs and would go back for further consultation if the need arose. I have already recommended her business to several others as well since our remodel was complete.

My only experience was similar to another reviewer who offered an "F" rating. I responded to a mailer ad about design services for a bathroom remodel. I was told they would come out, review the need with me, then draw up a 3-D proposal for $65 that they would present to me. At that point, I could buy the plans for $400, or use one of their contractors to do the work. Two young ladies came out, I explained everything we had in mind for the bathroom, but they weren't there 10 minutes. When I went back in for the presentation, it was literally a very generic computer program drawing that basically showed me what the bathroom vanity would look like with two different cabinetry options. That was it! Nothing related to the shower, the tub, the mirror, the lights, nothing! When I told them I understood they were going to do a full remodel proposal, I was told that to have that done was something like $400, which I could understand, but that's not what was sold to me. It was a complete waste of time and $65. They may do fine work eventually, but for what they were advertising, that was useless to me. Honestly, it sounded more like they were trying to sell cabinets.

I initiated contact online, A representative (Nicole I think) called me the very next day. I explained I needed a full remodel on a 1976 house but did not know where to start. I told her I would have to work in phases and needed help on deciding what to do first. She set up an appointment time and arrived on time. She was very friendly and outgoing. However, while doing the walk through of the house she seemed in a hurry to get done. She asked me very few questions about what I wanted and seemed to be always making her way to the door. It felt like I kept force feeding her information about what I wanted and did not want. She assured me she had everything she needed and said she would draw up several different plans for the kitchen for us to pick from. After she left my husband and I both wondered how she could come up with a good concept when getting such little information from us. We met with her at her office two weeks later to see her plans. When we arrived she had only drawn up one plan for the kitchen. I had specifically told her that I liked my formal dining room and wanted to keep it separate from my kitchen. She had ignored this and turned my formal dining into a THIRD living room. Also, she made the comment that she remembered I liked rustic décor and tried to keep with that in her design. What I had told her was I like traditional and transitional décor. I, in fact, do not like rustic AT ALL. She also had come up with a design where she made two bathrooms joined by a jack and jill shower. Yes, you are reading right...a shower that you could walk through to get to the bathroom on the other side. I explained to her we required more privacy then that. She spent a few minutes trying to talk us into the shower by telling us the shower doors would be staggered on each side so as not to provide a direct line of sight. She also decided to take out a sliding door, fill it in, and rearrange my living area when I specifically told her I wanted to keep the door and I liked my furniture as it was. A few minutes into the consultation, we were joined by the owner Shea. She also tried to talk us into the double bathroom, even telling us it was her idea and she thought it was a great plan. She only popped in though, as she apparently had more important things to do. About five minutes after she left she popped her head back in and asked Nicole if we were about done and that she had "told him you were almost done". Whoever him was. Apparently a more important client then us. We had been there about 30 minutes at this point. Despite all this (and because I had never worked with a designer before and didn't know any better) we asked her to make arrangements to have some contractors contact us to price out the work, figuring we could tweak her plans with the contractor. She said somebody would call us in a few days. Two weeks went by and we heard from no one. I considered following up with her but decided to take it as a blessing in disguise. We found another designer we are now working with and absolutely love so it worked out for the best. As a footnote, Shae designs is apparently more a cabinet sales company then interior designers. They kept talking about their cabinets that they sell. They seemed to be able to focus on the cabinets for sale but not on anything that I wanted. They did not market themselves as such so it was confusing to me.

By far the best in Knoxville for Kitchen Remodeling. From start to finish we received excellent service and are very pleased with the final product and design. Communication was great! Shae's team of designers are knowledgeable and understand the importance of a proper kitchen design. They presented the best overall design and were very through. There were no hidden charges and they also made suggestions on how we could maximize our budget dollars. A true transformation of our space and the project came in on time and on budget! Initially we hired Shae to provide a cabinetry quote (She has great cabinets for discounted pricing). During the walk through for measurement we started talking about design ideas for the master bath. Soon thereafter we hired Shae to help us with redesign and material selection. During the course of the remodel, Shae and her installation team were efficient and professional. Our bathrooms would have been very nice before Shae (and Misty) helped us. Now they are spectacular!!!! The flow just works. The materials and colors are perfect. The cabinetry is awesome (and a great price). I love my new bathrooms and Shae is the main reason they turned out so well.

There was confusion about the services you get with this deal. She was looking to attract customers who wanted a kitchen or bathroom make over and that is not me. I only wanted a vanity. Shae asked me to accept a refund and I agreed. She asked me.

Shae came over today and explained and stated she could do some custom work but it wasn’t what I was looking for. I needed it for a book casing and it was for kitchen cabinetry which was not stated in the deal.

Called to set up original appt and Shae arrived on time and had some great ideas. Set up another appt with Misty to measure rooms and then had a third appt to look at digital designs. Had some wonderful ideas and we decided on one layout and called to tell her we were ready to proceed. Did not hear from her. Called two more times and still have not heard from her. Do not know why she has not returned calls but we were very disappointed that there was no follow up. We certainly have some major concerns. Now we have to start all over again to try to find someone reliable.

I was looking at getting a new kitchen island. I purchased the deal for $199 for $1000 worth of cabinetry thinking I would be able to get a nice island for a few hundred dollars more. After speaking with the service provider, they estimated it would be a couple thousand dollars extra and I am no longer interested in the service.

Shae is amazing with her design ideas and especially her cost effectiveness. My master bath went from outdated to a beautiful spa-like retreat. She was able to use existing shower and tub, blending the old with the new beautifully. She is currently working on a kitchen redesign for me as well. Highly recommend Shae and Misty.

Beautiful work, great customer service. Really works to maximize your budget. You will not regret working with Shae, she is awesome.

She’s very knowledgeable and creative. She not only knows design but recently became licensed as a general contractor. She’s someone I would trust implicitly to do any job for me. I would most definitely use her service again.

I got her through McLain's Painting. He gives you an hour of time when you get something painted. Her pricing was great. I would give her A's all the way down the line. I have used her more than once.
