He brought a young man with him and this young man did all the work. Johnny Jones mostly watched the young man work.
I asked Mr. Jones how much he would charge me to do the job and he said he charges $85.00/hour, but he could not tell me how long the job would take. He was here for ONE HOUR the first day. That's when he determined that he could not install the Universal Remote Control from Lowes.
I asked him if he could just install a light on the ceiling of the back porch and a light switch to turn it on and off.
Again I asked him how much it would cost. He said he charges $85.00/hour but, again he said he could not tell me how long it would take. He specifically said he thought the whole job would not cost more than $300.00 to $400.00. I thought that was high but I wanted the job done.
He was here for FOUR HOURS the second day, installing one hanging light on the back porch and a light switch, (which he ran the electrical wire from the outside socket that was already there).
He charged for ONE AND A HALF HOURS for the first day plus an additional $50.00 for "TRIP CHARGE".
He charged for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS for the second day plus an additional $50.00 for "TRIP CHARGE"
One porch light cost me $737.87, I thought that was a bit much. I was expecting to pay $85.00/hour X 5 hours = $425.00. HE OVERCHARGED ME $312.87
When I told him I thought the cost was excessive and that he was not in my home for the number of hours he said he was, he became irate, talking loudly and saying that the price was not negotiable. He said he charges from the time he talked to me on the phone and leaves his house.
I never saw an invoice until it was time to pay him. I thought he would be honest, he wasn't.
