Precision Door Service

We called Precision Door Service simply because they were so highly recommended on Angies List. We were shocked at the price when they came out to give us an estimate. We had a garage door opener that had been giving us trouble for a few months and decided to get an estimate to have both our door openers replaced since they were 17 years old. They arrived as promised and we had the distinct impression that they came to make the repair while they were here. But when they quoted a price of $449 per door we had second thoughts. That night I did an online search of openers and found a better opener at Home Depot for $268 . We went the next day to inquire about them and placed our order as soon as we saw the features, WITH a LIFETIME warranty on the motor and parts and they only charged $97 to install each door. So we ended up spending $730 instead of $898. That's a savings of $168, with no coupons or gimmicks. As promised, they called within 24 hours to schedule the installation, which was on the next business day (Monday). They were scheduled to arrive at 8am and arrived at 8:07, and within an hour and a half they were done. They were very friendly, competent and accomodating. They even hauled the old openers off, cleaned their mess and gave me thorough instructions on the operation of all components of the openers, remotes, etc. I thought it ironic that the man and woman team were actually from Overhead Door in Knoxville. Should our openers or doors ever require replacement or repair I would also recommend OVERHEAD DOOR. I would not recommend Precision Door if you are looking for a good price on a good product. (The brand opener we chose was a Chamberain 920.)

I responded to an advertisement for garage door maintenance. The service guy did a good job, doors are much quieter and are working well. He did not try to hard sale me anything else which I appreciated. Would certainly use these folks again.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal $119 coupon for this job. They also did more work for us while they here. They did not put any nicks or dings in my garage door. I was not here when the did this job.

My garage door stopped working on the afternoon of 12/26. It stopped in the half way up position. I was able to get it down but nothing else. I called Precision Door because they were one of 2 companies that offered Saturday appointments but the only one to offer a coupon to Angie's List members. From the start they were very nice and accommodating. On Saturday, Jerry, the technician, called about 20 minutes prior to his arrival to say he was on his way and when he would be arriving. He arrived right on time! He quickly diagnosed the problem, gave me my repair options and promptly went to work when he knew what I wanted. The gears has stripped out of my 1999 garage door openers. I could either have the gears replaced or replace entire opener with a much newer and more quiet model. I chose the later and also chose to have my 2nd opened also replaced. Since they were both the same make/model, I didn't think the 2nd one was far behind in breaking. Jerry was very professional and clean. He worked to make the install look a lot better than it did initially. I bought the house in 2006 and these were the openers that had come with the house and the install wasn't as clean as it could have been. Approximately 3.5 hours later, both of the openers had been replaced, remotes and key pad installed and programmed and everything cleaned up. Jerry did a fantastic job! I would totally recommend Precision Door to anyone needing garage door service. They have a new office in the Chattanooga area. A++!

They were able to get me scheduled quickly and were very accomodating. They were punctual and professional when they came. Once he did the inspection, he called me out to look at what he had found (a broken spring as well as the track being detached from the wall) and what he recommended. I was not surprised we needed a repair, which is why I wanted to do this in the first place. He explained how long it would take, what parts he would be replacing, and what our expectations should be of the new parts. He was ablle to do the repair while he was there, in the time he told us. He gave us an Angie's List discount and applied the money we paid for the inspection and roller replacement to the repair. The garage door is faster and quieter than it has been in a few years.

I damaged my garage door track the weekend before Christmas and was amazed to find Precision Door available to come out the next morning to repair it for me. The part had to be ordered but the tech was able to make a temporary fix so that I could raise and lower the door until they were able to install the new track a few days after Christmas . They are very courteous and professional too.

I will not allow Precision Door on my property again.

Tommy was very professional and knowledgeable. He arrived on time, was very thorough in his inspection, and he performed the 25 point safety check quickly and effectively. The door is so much more quiet with the new nylon rollers.

The overall project went fast. He came to do a roller replacement and ended up doing that along with a spring replacement. The technician had the equipment he needed a finished all the work within an hour. I told him I had to leave for an appointment and he said there should not be a problem. I was happy with how it at went.

Used the Angie's List $99 garage door special. The appointment was simple, the technician came on time, did a great job and was very professional. They are my door company now.

From the phone call to email to service they were friendly, professional, and punctual, from this aspect very pleased. However I felt a little set up in that while my door is very simple and a standard light weight door, single car door, there was an "need" for additional rollers that added to the deal 33% more cost. i can't imagine a door with less rollers than what i have, so the idea of only $99 special did not happen. I am not sure who is at fault, A.L. or door service. What does your survey tell about this happening? What percentage of customers only paid the advertised price? Am I the only one that this happened to? Angie's list should make more clear that this is not the average cost, but the lowest cost possible. I recommend saying: "the cost of an 8 or less roller replacement is only $99". (whatever max. number of rollers to be replaced for this cost). For me the $99 dollar price pushed me to accept the offer, the reality is $130 has no ring, so kudos's for getting me to take on something I never intended to do. i work for company that uses e-advertising and it is so important to make it clear that what your offer is the deal, and it is up to the advertising company, Angie's List, in this case to make the offer clear, the customer should not be required to do research or read "fine print". i have used Angie's List and have had reliable reviews, they proved helpful. The door company that provided the service has many good qualities, and perhaps it was the ad that was misleading causing disappointment. When i see another deal I don't want to have to "police" it to see if it is as presented. Thank you, steve

I liked the fact that when I booked it and paid for it the address had not been updated to the address where I bought my house, so he went to the wrong address but they lead him to the correct address and he took the time to do that. So that was good customer service. What I didn't like though was I already had an inspection done and they said the rollers and things were good on the door. They said what needed to be fixed was a piece on the garage wall that was coming loose and needed to be fastened down. Otherwise the garage is good and I have another good 15 years of wear on it. They told me everything on the door was bad and needed to be replaced. I also wanted an electric door opener instead of a manual opener.

I called Precision Door at 12 midnight when my garage door would not open & someone ANSWERED! They asked me if I wanted someone out tonight and i said no, we scheduled to have someone come out on SUNDAY MORNING. Lets say I was shocked that i spoke with a live person at 12 o'clock on a saturday night and someone came out on sunday. Great work, Great Job! thanks Precision & Angie's List

Service tech found several parts that he said needing replacing. Pretty much completely rebuilt door.

It was absolutely wonderful. I had an electrical surge because of a thunderstorm that destroyed the motor on my garage door opener. It happened during the storm and I had to call them for an emergency appointment. They came, they looked at it and said the motor had to be replaced, they couldn't fix it. They put in a brand new motor. I also had new bearings put in to make it quieter. the quality of the workmanship was wonderful and the quality of the door has been great. I have two other doors where the motor was put in by other companies and there is no comparison to how quiet and efficient this door is. It also has a keypad on the outside so I don't have to use a key to get in which is good because I use my garage a lot. They spent two hours on the installation. The cost of the repair is over $500.00 for each new motor. For $39.00 you can buy a surge protector for your garage door motors. I found out the hard way, so I had surge protectors put on my garage door motors because it is not unusual for a thunderstorm to wreck the motor. The technician's name was Jason Kelly; he was so careful and he oiled the joints so it would work. He deserves recognition. This is the third garage door company that I used. The first garage door company, the hardware fell off the ceiling and suddenly it just tore apart. It could have killed someone. The second company was okay but the product didn't last, it wasn't very good quality. So I have had some experiences with other companies and Precision is by far the best. You can see the difference in the products and the workmanship.

Estimate was on-time and professional. Installation was as promised. Follow up and assistance from office staff from office staff was outstanding.

I called because my garage does has a habit of refusing to close occasionally. They came out and it was $65 just to come out and see what was wrong. Then the guy tells me this long story about how its probably the spring and that needs to be fixed anyway maybe not today but someday soon it will break and trap me in the garage. Then he tells me its $598 to replace! That is expensive, but I felt like I had to have it done as it was the only way to fix my problem and if i said i wanted to think about it then it would cost me an extra $65 to have them come out again. Afterwards I kind of felt ripped off when I learned new garage doors only cost about that much! I am not sure they ripped me off but they definitely are pricey and I don't know if i would trust them enough to use them again. The guy who actually performed the service was professional and did a good job -the door works well now. I am happy with the overall effect but suspicious that i was charged way too much because I don't know any better.

They were on time and did exactly what they were supposed to do. Good experience. I would recommend them.

I called them early morning to have them replace my garage door. I went by their office, and they showed me a door I liked and they that afternoon replaced my door.

They said I needed more work done, so I paid them a couple hundred dollars. They did a good job.

Our garage door had some issues (wouldn't stay straight). I contacted Precision and they came out quickly (the next day) at the time they said they would (at the start of the 2 hour window, actually) and performed the service quickly (replaced the spring). They indicated that the rollers could use replacing (and showed the evidence that they were not rolling well) and even let me go buy the angie's list "big deal" for the roller replacement, which saved me significant $$ on the overall service. I would definitely use them again.

Tech was prompt and professional. Work was performed and tech corrected some additional problems with the door that was probably the reason I called for the tune up. I probably could have negotiated a lower price since he was already there but the price for fixing the problems seemed fair. Overall, I was satisfied with the work they performed.

Very good. The crew was very professional and courteous. They came and provided an estimate, and after we agreed to the cost, quickly got to work and completed the whole job with clean up in just a few hours. We are very pleased with the new parts and equipment - we did not realize how worn out the old parts were (original with the house - about 30 years old). The new motor is so quiet you cannot hear it at all, and the new hardware on both doors makes the doors line up correctly and shut perfectly. We are very pleased with the service. Good company - we certainly plan to use them again when the motor on our second door goes bad, or if we need other parts or service for our garage doors.
