I really do not understand as to why I paid 100$ for a 10 min job but being a new home owner I am still trying to learn. So next time you jump on a coupon make sure you know what will be done. The appointment was easy to get the mechanic came at 7pm and left at 7:20.Sprayed the hinges and that is about it..the coupon said garage door tune up and a lot of other tsuff but that was all that was done
Description of Work: the provider came sprayed on the hinges of the garage door and left

Precision Door Service were okay. My garage door has been working fine since then, so I guess, okay. He convinced me that it was worthwhile to get the extra work done while he was here. He did a good job. If I needed to use him again any time soon, he didn't do a good job while he was here, so I would down grade him. I might recommend him to somebody else using them, if they asked me. It doesn't make him super good or super bad. If you want it done, he can do it.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's Big Deal to get my garage door fixed and some other things done to it. I ended up paying more than what I bought the Big Deal for. I don't what the Big Deal was. You get $69.00 worth of door service. It probably ended up being $200-something or whatever. But there were some other things done to it. They came out when they were supposed to.

They were excellent. They came out twice. The first time they came out for servicing. I'd bought a package because the automatic garage door hadn't been serviced since I bought the property, which was 8 years ago so I felt it was time. They did replace some parts and did some repairs and I thought that they were efficient. They arrived when they said they would, they did the job, and when they left the door was working just fine. They did have to add some parts that weren't originally put on there to make the door run smoother and be more balanced, and that made sense to me. He explained what the parts did and why it was important to have them so it seemed to be pretty clear and it did make sense. I did have to pay something extra for that, but I don't remember how much it was. The original service agreement I got from Angie's List didn't cover those particular things. I had the option of declining them, but I thought it was important to get them. Then, about a month and a half ago, late in the evening on a Sunday night, a porch cable or something came undone and I couldn't close the door. It was lopsided and it was very frustrating. I tried to fix it myself but, of course, just made it totally worse. It was a disaster. It was about 10 o'clock on a Sunday night, but they have 24 hour service fortunately. It's a good thing they do because I was left with a garage door that wouldn't close in the middle of the night so I couldn't secure the house as everything was wide open. I called and somebody came out within the hour. He fixed a cable that we broke or it became undone or a part went out, I'm not really sure exactly what it was, but he fixed it and it was covered under the contract so I didn't pay anything. You don't get a taped message, it's a person who answers the phone. So that was pretty great as it was a potentially very aggravating situation for me. They said they'd be there between such a time and he was there within that time frame and he did the repair. I think some of the work has a five-year contract, though this one might have been a one-year. The original repair was done last fall so it was within the coverage period even if it was only one year.
Description of Work: For garage door service I used Precision Door Service. Last September they replaced some parts and serviced the whole mechanism. I used them again some time in April this year.

Precision Door contacted me because they saw noticed that I had purchased a "Angie List Big Deal special". Repair man arrrived on time and was very professional. He kept me informed throughout the whole process. He pointed out a couple of minor problems and corrected them. He replaced the rollers on the door and he even looked at our second door (which was not part of the "Big Deal" and found no problems. I was very pleased with the work that was done.

I should have done my research beforehand to save some money, I stupidly thought that Angie's list would help me here. Sometimes you just want to see the five stars, call them up and get the job over with. My bad. The wife needed her garage door fixed and I didn't want to deal with it. The person answering the phone was very good and said they could come out right away. The guy that showed up called ahead and was very professional. The problem is that I paid too much. It could be buyers remorse but I am sure that if I shopped around I could have saved $150 - $300 off the price I paid. Don't get me wrong, they did a great job and it is over with now, the door works, and for that I am happy. However, I think if you have a little time you could get a couple bids and shop around. They do not break down the labor cost on the invoice. When you buy the overhaul package they have some arbitrary price. Yes you probably should just go ahead and replace the springs since most spring only are rated for just over 10,000 cycles. The average American opens and closes there garage door 8 times a day, so you can see that after 3 to 4 years the springs are past their useful lifetime. You can buy thicker diameter spring (e.g. 20 year spring) for a small amount of money more, but I have no idea what kind I got. They could have offered a better spring. I asked to have the lower weather seal replaced and the repairman gave me a line like, "well, it will be worthless in 6 months anyhow so why replace it?" - why do anything at all since everything and everyone will just turn to dust in a matter of time. Even the Toyota Service center breaks out labor and parts, these guys hide the true cost on their invoice. I believe the garage door repair industry could be reaping the benefit of ignorant homeowners. Here's an estimate for cost for the parts I found online: Two Torsion Springs for Garage Door Any Wire Size or Length W/Cones $40.99 x 2 = $82 Set of 10---2 Inch 11 / 13 Ball Nylon Garage Door Roller (4 Inch Stem) $8.95 Low Head Room Garage Door Bottom Bracket $22.04 x 2 = $44 Garage Door 400-8 Standard Lift Cable Drums $10 x 2 = $20 1/8" Cable set for 8' High Garage Door with Torsion Springs 116" $9.95 x 2 = $20 Center Bracket for Spring (couldn't find this exact part on internet) Guess $30 Total Parts $205 Even assuming a ~50% Markup gets us to $300, granted, you have to know what parts to get so I am willing to pay for that expertise, hence the 50% markup. Total time to complete job < 2 hours. Total bill $648 Parts $300 Labor $348 Labor cost per hour $174 My estimate of a good price for this work would be around $350 - 500. Guess we should all feel good that these guys bill out for more than your Primary Care Physician.
Description of Work: Replaced both springs (218 size) for 14 foot door, center spring bracket, both drums, torsion cables, two lower brackets, 10 rollers with nylon rollers.

Overall it went very well.
Description of Work: I used a Precision Door offer to replace garage door rollers at a special price. The house is almost 50 years old and I suppose the door is also. Being so old the door has more rollers than newer doors. No Problem. Previously I was told (by another company) that the spring was in bad condition. The Precision Door Service Rep looked at it and agreed that it was in bad shape. He replaced it and now the door runs like new. I had been thinking about getting a new door but now it is so quite that I may keep it for another 50 years. I was very satisfied with the Service Rep and the job he did and I will not hesitate to call Precision door for any garage door problems. He showed up on time, did the worked professionally , cleaned up, collected the money and left. I cannot ask for anything better. Mo Brueckner 333 W hunt rd Alcoa TN 865 982 5178 mob7@juno.com

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I ended up spending a lot more. I didn't like spending more money but he insisted that I needed to replace the overhead door springs. I didn't compare prices. I'm on the fence on whether I would use him again. I would probably consider him for a quote.

Very well trained and highly professional job by this tech. The door operated quieter and smoother than it did when installed. I did have problems before with the door mechanism loosing its brain causing the motor to be retrained by opening and closing several times....that appears to have gone away. Overall extremely happy with this job.
Description of Work: I wanted an evaluation and a price estimate to repair, upgrade my 18' garage door operating mechanisms. Technician came in looked it over and gave me a complete evaluation including safety concerns associated with this door. Gave me three options on the repairs and upgrade. I selected the premium option because I wanted a guarantee because of safety concerns. In a manner of three hours he replaced springs, cables, pulleys and rollers. Calibrated the opening and closing tensions on the spriings and lubricated the door.

We used Angie's List to find someone to check our garage door and replace remotes in a home that we just bought. Precision Door Service was very responsive. The rep who came to our house was very knowledgeable and helpful. He quickly handled our needs in a courteous and professional manner. We utilized a discount coupon from Angie's List and that was applied to our bill. I've forgotten the amount we spent, but it was certainly reasonable. We will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

Our old garage doors predate any safety mechanisms and shook the house when in operation. A spring on our main door snapped (no safety wire) while closing one day, bending the tracks, rendering the door unusable. We opt'ed for new garage doors and new motors. The installer began work early in the morning and stayed until around 9:30 PM that night until the job was complete. The doors, which are right below our kitchen, now open so smoothly and silently, someone standing in the kitchen will have no idea when the doors are opening or closing. Also, The seals around the doors are airtight. A++ on quality!

Description of Work: The $30 was for an inspection and service to my garage door. Patrick, with Precision Door, spent all of 2 minutes looking at my garage door before telling me all of the things I needed to upgrade to prevent my door from screwing up. The estimate was around $500. He proceded to spray sylicone on the door parts then left. My garage door works just fine... he was just trying to sell me. I had to schedule three times with them, because they were always running late. I will try another company next time.

Overall - very happy. The guy was a professional and he quoted me a professional price. I just found someone to do similar (not the same, mind you. Just similar) work for cheaper. There was NO high pressure sales techniques or senseless follow ups - good company. From initial phone call to final review of services everything was more than satisfactory.
Description of Work: Great guy came to inspect my door and give me a quote on installing an opener on the other bay. He performed a safety inspection and lubed my moving parts, very happy with paying for what was promised. He quoted me on 1 garage door installation and 1 garage door over haul and (after checking around) I found it to be very high. I got a quote and installation from someone else for about 10% of the quote of what they gave me.

Overall, the company performed strictly in compliance with a narrow definition of the word maintenance, in order to get in front of customers and sell them real maintenance services at an exorbidant rate. Pointing out the deficiencies in my garage door was was worthwhile, but the "maintenance" provided was not what I expected. I keep my garage door well lubricated with WD-40, myself. The work described by the Precision Rep was needed and was accomplished be another garage door speciality company for $139.00.
Description of Work: Visit resulted from my purchase of Angie's List Christmas holiday period coupon. I have my garage door inspected and maintained annually, anyway. Representative told me everything wrong with my garage door. Pointed out a broken hinge plate (wear & tear damage). Told me all the doors casters were badly worn and needed replacement; and the tension springs should be replaced. I asked it it was a safety problem. He said it was. Estimated cost in excess of $450.00, but he wasn't clear on how much more. The estimate was VERBAL only, as he left no written estimate even when I asked for one. His answer to my request was that written estimates are sent via email (pointing to his IPad-type device); and he'd send me one. When I did not appear interested in immediately scheduling a full package of fixes as he described, I again asked for a written estimate - which he said would be on its way to my email address. I called Precision Door Service three days later asking for my email estimate, the person who answered the phone connected me with the service Rep to came to my home. Again, the email estimate was promised. To this date, the estimate has not arrived by email or any other method. Then to meet the minimum requirements of the garage door "maintenance" coupon I purchased, the Precision Door Service Rep pulled out a spray can of light oil, sprayed all the door-panel hinges and left. The door does go up and down slightly quieter now! That's what I got for $30 bucks.
