It went fairly well. The men knew their jobs and did them efficiently. They were in and out in a few days. My only criticism would be that they did not have the correct equipment to smooth the soil out before they sodded it. We are slowly smoothing it down and filling in with earth where the bobcat tires made large ruts. Also, there was damage to the siding from the bobcat, but we came to an agreement on a cost for the repair.
Description of Work: Removed concrete from back of house, dug earth away from foundation. Placed "pins" in and recovered areas. Also added support in crawl space to stop some wall issues we were having.

It is unfortunate that you had a bad experience with another company after spending $9,500 to only still have the problem within your home. If there is anything we can do to help please don't hesitate to call.

I thought the estimate provided was unreasonably high based on my understanding of services to be performed and time involved. The inspector seemed put off when I questioned the reasonableness of the estimate, and was unable to provide any real justification regarding parts of the estimate or why they were so costly. Inspector was also unable to provide any explanation as to why the type of mold found in the crawl space should be considered dangerous enough that the proposed steps should be considered. For example, since I'm no expert on mold, nor would I claim to be, for all I know, 80% of homes in Eastern TN may have some mold in their crawl space. I have no idea. Maybe the type of mold found is extremely dangerous. Again, I have no idea. However, pointing at some areas of white powdery substance on wood beams in the crawl space saying "there's mold" and "there's mold" doesn't really give me enough justification as to why $10,500 should be spent to remove it and ensure it doesn't come back for 700 years. I asked the inspector several times how this type of mold differed other types of mold and especially from the more notorious and highly dangerous "black mold", to which he was unable to provide any explanation at all. From reading all of the reviews for Master Dry, I am confident that they do very good work. However, I was disappointed with the estimate, the lack of support for the estimate, and responses to different questions that I had, which largely remained unanswered. I also asked for the inspector to email me the quote so that I could do some research into mold on my own and continue to consider some of the less costly parts of the work that was proposed; however, a week has passed and there is no sign of the email with the quote. Overall, a disappointment.
Description of Work: Inspector came out and inspected basement and crawl space in connection with some water that has been entering one corner of the basement. Ultimately provided a verbal estimate related to various steps involved in removal of some mold in the crawl space and prevention of future mold.

Was told by Master Dry that there would be no problem raising the slab on the front porch which had sunk in the back about 2-3 inches. They drilled holes about a ft. from rear and used a polyurethane to raise it. In doing so it raised about an inch and had a crack develop in the concrete. He stopped and called another person. They proceeded and caused another crack to develop. They stopped and said it could not be raised any further. I ended up paying a little over half of the total cost, but was very disappointed in the outcome. I think they did the best they could. The men were very professional and apologetic. Update: 4/22/2015 After discussing the problem with the company, since they were unable to raise the porch to the level desired, they refunded the entire amount that I paid. Should I need to use a company for concrete in the future, I would not hesitate to call them. I think they were very fair about it. I'm very satisfied with the outcome now.

This company proved to be cost prohibiting and we went with a different company that had a lower bid. This company did try to match the competitors bid, but was unable to in the end. They use a patented system that only they can use, and it costs more than traditional waterproofing supplies.

Master Dry representative went under the floor in limited crawl space and took multiple pictures to show me the issues with the current flooring supports (the only firm that provided pictures of those I contacted). The rep provided a couple of options for the repair and I picked the least costly given the age of the house. The work was done on time. One issue was that the workers did not check the bathroom door before leaving and so had to make a return trip to adjust the jacks so that the door would close properly. All the workers were extremely courteous. I was very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Installed jacks under laundry room and bathroom to address sagging floor and inability to close bathroom door completely. Installation included adding support beams under floor - due to age of existing subflooring (60 years) they were unable to support the pressure of the jacks.

The service provided is fine, but we could have gotten the same result spending far less. They advertised cost matching, but did not honor that pledge, saying the materials from our other companies estimate were not the same. Since Master Dry uses patented materials, it is easy to make the argument that any other companies' materials would not be the same. We were disappointed that they would not make an adjustment in the cost.

They completely sealed off the crawl space; we can use it as a storage space for some extra items. It is that well sealed. They've came back out to do some follow up work as well. They also installed an alarm, which sounds if there is any extra water leaking into the crawl space. They also installed a dehumidifier. It is a great feeling to know that is it done and taken care of. They came out and gave a free estimate. They were very nice and easy to work with. I would recommend them.

Very professional and answered all my questions but I had problems with the price for my basemennt. Also, the representative told me that the price did not include moving everything in my basement away from the outer perimeter at least 4 feet. Well, I can't do that because of a stairwell and all my HVAC ductwork. I had to decline the offer.

It looks like the last time we were out was in 2012. We would love the chance to have an inspector come back out and see if we can look for another solution or find a way to help with moving some of the items in the basement. We have a skilled carpenter on staff now as well so we could probably find a solution for the stairs. We tried to contact you on Saturday with the phone number and email we have on file but neither are good anymore. Would you mind to call us at 865-622-3165 and ask for Tim? We would be more than happy to work on a solution!

Our house is in a low area, and so for many years we have had a problem with water standing in parts of the crawl space during wet season. Sometimes water would stand for several months at a time. This happened every year in spring and sometimes in late fall or winter. Master Dry recommended two sump pumps at each end of the crawl space, drainage lines along the foundation feeding the sump pumps, an extended drainage line outside the house to carry water away from the foundation, and plastic ground cover in the crawl space. The installation went smoothly and quickly and everything was done right the first time. It has now been over a year since the installation and I have had time to see how it works during wet season. The sump pump keeps the crawl space bone dry. The pump itself is extremely quiet and you hardly even know it's there. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. As an added bonus, when the installers got to work digging, they noticed from the soil condition that I really didn't need the second pump as was initially thought, so they dropped that from the contract, saving me $1000. That was very honest of them; I would never have known the difference.

Salesman Walt Kimbro came to quote me on the crawlspace upgrade. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I knew the work would not be cheap based on comments in Angie's List but it was necessary - my crawlspace was damp and there was mold. Walt patiently worked with me through the contract process knowing it's not easy to spend $8500 on a part of your house you don't see very often. The crew of Nick, Ben and Reese were excellent. Nick kept me informed of their arrival times. They answered questions and tolerated my photographs as the work progressed. They cleaned out all old insulation and debris from the crawlspace and hauled it away - they even took some other wood and rebar that was hanging around. They applied a mold spray to kill mold. Part of the job involved grading the crawlspace floor which was not easy since here in Chattanooga we don't have soil, we have rock with some clay mixed in. They insulated the foundation walls with a thick product called Silverglo. It covered the old foundation vents to stop outside air from entering. After that a 20 mil vapor barrier was laid down covering the floor and going partially up the walls and covering the piers. The Silverglo was also cut to fit between each floor joist to insulate the sill plate. A sump drain with alarm was installed at the low point of the crawlspace floor. Foam was used to seal every crack and hole. They installed a weatherproof door in place of my old crawlspace door. Finally, a dehumidifier was installed and tested. I am very pleased with the work that was done and very happy with the results. I used to hate my crawlspace - it was a nasty, damp, bug-infested part of my house that I didn't want to go into. Now I love it. I can go in there to inspect my plumbing, HVAC, dryer vent, etc, and it is clean, dry, and pleasant. I know it is better for my house and it is healthier for me and my family.
Description of Work: Crawlspace encapsulation - remove fiberglass insulation, clean debris and grade floor, apply mold spray, insulate foundation walls and sill, install 20 mil vapor barrier throughout, install sump drain, install new crawlspace door, install dehumidifier.

Master Dry was the best of three prices with biggest difference being almost $2000. The competitors wanted to tack on surcharges for the power outlet and moisture barrier. Brett came out and was very nice and professional. Stayed in communication throughout the process. Answered a couple of questions that I sent on a Saturday via email and was not expecting a response until Monday and he answered me within a few minutes. I told him he was nuts and should take his weekend off and he responded that he always answered his emails quickly. The guys that did the work were nice and professional. Cleaned up after themselves. Everything was done to my liking. So in summary, they provided more services at a lower price and the services were to my specifications as well. A Win/win situation.

The sales representative Scott called and schedule an appointment which is arrived on time for. We walked thru the entire house so he could examine any signs of other possible foundation issues as well as the crawl space. Upon finishing his walk thru he made some notes and came up with a list of recommendations for the overall foundation health to include the replacement of the broken shims I called about (this broken shims were caught by the home inspector when I purchased the house). Scott explained in great detail about why he was making other recommendations as well as explained realistic time tables as too when or if I should do any of the additional recommendations. I decided at this point to only have the shims replaced and add the recommended back door support beam which Scott did take me under the house to show me everything he saw as part of his explanation. On repair day the crew arrived on time and was very professional. Once the new back door support jack was in place the crew leader and I fine tuned the support jack hight to ensure proper support while not effecting the door movement. I was informed at that time if for any reason the support jack required any adjustments to not hesitate to call them to come out and make the proper adjustments. Upon completions of the work they laid down new plastic barriers which included stacking the barrier into the ground. All in all had a great experience with every company staff member I dealt with. While I have heard by word of mouth by friends and other contractors that Master Dry can be a bit more expensive then others they do excellent work that is worth the money which my own exprience confirms in my opinion. I will deffinatly use them again for any future foundation work I need done.
Description of Work: Replaced broken original 15 wooden main beam wooden shims with metal shims. Also, installed a new support beam with support jack under back door which extends about 4 feet further then the main wall. Back door corner supports wood was showing signs of stress so this was done as a preventative measure.
