Description of Work: Sean and his crew did a very good job. They removed dead bushes, removed lots of weeds, mulched and built a stacked stone bed around our mailbox.  + -1 moreAfter several weeks of interviewing potential landscape professionals, I decided to go with Sean Harris and his team. Without a doubt the best decision I could have made. Aside from being super nice, I found Sean to be very professional and open and responsive to my landscaping project needs. He and his crew were on time, worked their tails off and were very courteous. They planted several shrubs and plants I had selected. He also transplanted two azalea shrubs to a designated area. Additionally, Sean and his team were able to re-route a gutter drain that had become clogged causing water to backflow too near my home. They were able to add new piping and re-route the drain away from my house. Very detail oriented(actual mulch laying process utilizing a pitch fork provided a professional touch!), Sean and his team followed the landscape plan to perfection! Sean also recommended an addition to the plan(annuals planted in outlying mulch bed which was very cost effective and enhanced the overall landscaping outcome. Outstanding landscape transformation! Compared to other estimates I received for this project, Sean's was not the highest or lowest-reasonably and fairly priced. No nonsense, strait shooter type of guy who takes pride in his work! Highly recommend Sean and his team to anyone looking for quality and professional landscaping work.

Description of Work: In addition to the clean up I asked Sean to also mow the lawn *he said that would be $40-45 extra* and I asked him to pull out a bush. They did not use the 3 hours at all between mowing and cleaning up the landscaping. So in addition to the coupon for $150 for 3 hours of cleaning debris, he also charged me another $150 for pulling the bush and mowing. I don't think it was a fair price. Originally he had said "a little bit more and that's where the price came in for mowing". When the time came to pay, it was TWICE as much for maybe 3 hours of work. Excessive in my opinion. | |Most of the work was done ok. However, the flower beds were NOT fully cleaned out at all, particularly in the front of the house by the road on 1 side. Many weeds/grass left in it after I told him there were "flowers" in there clearly visible that I wanted to be able to see and not be choked by these weeds. The other side was were the bush was and he explained about trying to get that out. That was almost completely cleaned out. There is another flowerbed that was just weed eaten down and not cleaned out and then the rest of the landscaped areas of the house were semi touched. 1 area in front of the house had the entire area left with weeds. At end of work I pointed it out to him and he said he wasn't sure but now sees they are weeds (as I was paying him). Seemed like they were just in a hurrying to get to the next job. As a new client I would have expected far more to have returning business, especially landscaping work. | |I can say that I asked of him to come out as soon as possible due to a broken mower and he DID actually come out and fit me in between jobs. However, if "fitting me in" caused this to turn out not very good because he didn't take his time, then I would suggest never doing it in the future. It isn't a lack of appreciation for the work, he could have just mowed then. It's a matter of taking pride in a job well done and he could have put off the other work for another time.  + -1 moreSean Harris came out to give me an estimate as scheduled. We walked the yard and I explained our issues with erosion. We decided that a dry creek bed at the bottom of the yard incline would work best. No sense fighting mother nature. We also looked at two trees around which the soil was washing away leaving bare roots that were being damaged by mowers along with an incline area that had turned to bare ground from erosion. We decided that a short stone barrier (to match the dry creek bed) around the down side of each tree would work and look good. He gave me a price and I told him we would discuss and get back with him after we got all the other estimates. His estimate was the best as were his ideas so we called him and said it was a 'go.' He set up a date but the weather did not cooperate so we set another date. He showed up as planned with materials and two other guys. We talked a bit again about the project and they set to work. As he told me, it took two days for him to take care of everything. They had to leave and return a few times for materials. We were pleasantly surprised by the addition of a few natural elements to the creek bed: a driftwood tree root and a tree stump with moss. Both fit in well with the natural plan. All were professional and we are pleased with the work. We didn't want a polished landscaped look. We wanted the work to look natural and fit in with our natural setting and he gave us exactly that.

 + -1 moreThe work spanned a number of days over three weeks. One area involved planting a large (five foot) shrub as a visual block of the HVAC units from the street; placing small retaining walls with stone on the sloping ground above two of our three HVAC units; replacing two damaged water pipes that take rainwater from our downspouts away from the house underground; and reseed the damaged lawn area involved. A second area involved planting three large (six foot) evergreen trees and one very large (eight foot) evergreen. Since the area involved a considerable drop off for the eight footer, he also created a sizeable retaining wall with river stone for that tree. He took extra effort to ensure that I was satisfied with the positioning of each tree. The third area involved tearing out an old patch of shrubs designed to screen some utility boxes, design a new shrub bed and shrub plan and install the new plants. This included meeting Mr. Harris at a nursery and spending a considerable period of time looking at shrubs and discussing their pros and cons until we came up with our choices. He then arranged their purchase, delivered and installed them (nineteen shrubs of approximately 3 feet in size). All shrubs and trees were fertilized, and all beds were mulched with high quality black mulch. He trimmed back a tree and three shrubs in our front yard bed; and spent some time diagnosing and repairing a problem we had with our waterfall on our pond (water had stopped running down the waterfall). Mr. Harris takes the time to do the job right. He cares about satisfying his customer, giving him quality work at a good price, and explains why he recommends as he does. He also recommended against our taking down a tree that we had asked him about - so, in essence, he turned down doing an extra job. We had chosen him based upon his good reviews on Angie's List. Those reviews were correct, and we shall be using Mr. Harris for all our landscaping needs going forward..

 + 1 moreHe kept me advised of the starting time. Did the work as discussed and even took care of some tree limbs that needed to be removed. I enjoyed the experience and will be using him in the future to do more work in my yard. He is also going to do some maintenance (weeding) to keep the bed looking good all year round.
Description of Work: Weeded, dug up and replanted a driveway bed that had gotten overgrown. He put down quality top soil, landscaping fabric and replanted lilies and iris and mulched the whole bed. He also checked on another bed that had been buried by an excavation. He also added some new iris to the bed and provided 50 tulip bulbs which he planted. I am very much looking forward to the spring when everything blooms. It is a relief to have found someone as knowledgeable and hard working as Mr. Harris to keep my yard looking its best.

Weather was not permitting so a new work day was set for the following week according to my schedule. Sean arrived on time and began work even though I was late for our appointment time. He was very knowledgeable and give me tips on maintaining my shrubs and trees. He even offered to move a young shrub that he believed would be crowded out eventually by a growing spruce tree, he did this additional work for free. He was a very manner-able and pleasant person and I would highly recommend his services.
Description of Work: Brought 3 cubic feet of black mulch to my home and spread it between three large flower beds.

He was very informative about the whole process. He left the backyard completely clean and planted pansies as a bonus, which is my favorite flower!
