Met for an estimate July 3rd. Sarah said they would be out of town for the 4th, so it would be a few days before I received estimate. Received estimate July 6th and asked when could they schedule my job. I was told 2-3 weeks. So I got another estimate from another company, hoping it would be sooner. After that meeting I felt that Lancaster would better fit my wants. I contacted Sarah 7/13 and asked her to contact me to get our work scheduled. She finally replied 7/16 to say she was out of office AGAIN but would contact me the end of the week. Well the end of the week came and went with no follow up regarding an appointment. So I emailed AGAIN on July 20th to see what was going on....she emails back she has me penciled in but is AGAIN out of office till the following week....July 24th....reached out AGAIN this time saying, are you interested in job???.....it's 2 days later....CRICKETS.......I guess Sarah is out of town AGAIN. All their fancy adjectives describing their company is a joke! I have wasted a month of my Summer trying to get hedges and rubbish cut down in my backyard with this unprofessional, so-called business. Want to waste your time??, this is the one for you!

They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up the job very well. However, they ended up removing many more limbs than we had discussed- even though I tried my best to communicate clearly with them about the job . I might consider them for a tree removal job, but, as far as trimming and pruning, I'd hesitate about doing business with this company again. I'm now unhappy with the way my trees look.

Great. Lancaster is extremely professional, comes with all the right equipment and staff. Amazing to watch. Fantastic cleanup. You may have to wait a while to get on their list.

They kept putting me off for months and never showed up. This was a big strain on my business.

Follow up to 9/6/2016 review - contacted by Lancaster - estimate was emailed on Aug 26th (per date stamp on email); however, I did not see it as it went to the junk folder - found today after another search based on date given by them. However, my previous review still stands as I called the office to check on the estimate and to follow up - it was the office response that caused the review. The office confirmed no estimate had been done, so I did not look again for an email. Had the office been aware of the estimate and been able to provide that information - I could have had my tree and stumps taken care of and in a much shorter time than the provided 4 months. I improved them on responsiveness because they did respond to the review - however, they did not offer to address the problem with me (as in offering to work with me to get the tree taken care of in a time shorter than the 4 months Bianca had provided) - they only mentioned addressing it internally. Again, the comment that they are a small company with growing pains was made.

The work quality was good. Turnaround times and organization less so. Price was fair, they matched another quote which I didn't take up due to less than good organization on that provider's part. Tried to get an additional quote for some follow up work with no joy.

At one point they had us on the "tentative list," yet they never called and never showed up, didn't call even to reschedule. I called them, kept calling in fact, and just barely received responses. They tried to put me on a tentative list yet again, I said no... wasn't interested. Last week they said that they would be here this week, and today I heard that they "won't be doing any stump grinding this week." I had changed the job details right at the start, and Lancaster tree had said they'd look at it and get the new quote. They didn't. As of today, its over 5 weeks since the initial estimate, and since they are not doing it this week, it would be over 6 - at least. Obviously they didn't want or need the work, and so we complied with their wishes and found someone else. On the positive side, they were very personable and reasonable. On the minus side, nobody should have to wait a month and a half to get the work done, and I shouldn't have had to stay on top of them constantly. I even told them that we have house foundation issues that are on hold till they do this work - and they didn't take that into account.

I tried to get a simple quote and over the period of two weeks or so my appointment was rescheduled 4-5 times including one no-show (the office claims I wrote down the wrong day but I'm confident I had it right). It got to the point where I was prepared to be called and told they wouldn't be coming. I finally had to stop trying as it was getting to be too much to take time off of work only to be rescheduled/have a no-show. I'm very disappointed as I thought this company was one of the best in Knoxville per other reviews but I think they need to work on their scheduling practices.

Initial contact was made on 14 Mar 2016. Received contract via e-mail 19 Mar. We were given three different dates when they would be here. Each time the date was slipped (rain was the cause of the original delay). The removal happened in April. The actual tree removal was very efficient and Kevin and his crew were very professional. However, we did not understand that the stump would be ground at a separate time. The stump grinding did not happen until 1 Jun. We were not at home and were very disappointed when we got home and found the results of the grinding. There were roots sticking up from the ground, still attached and the rest of the grinding left excessively large pieces. When we contacted Sarah about this, she was less than pleased to hear from us. Numerous excuses were given for why things were happening. She stated that Matt would contact us to try to resolve this issue. To date (23 Jun 2016) we have heard from him. The company is not good at returning calls and emails. It will take several days to get any response. We believe lack of communication is their largest issue.

Lancaster gave the lowest bid by far of three we received. They had to delay the start of the job by a couple of days due to the weather, but kept us informed of the delay by email. They did the job just as they said they would, took down the trees, removed all the debris, and didn't ask for more money when the job was done. All in all, a first rate, professional job.

Matt Lancaster and his crew are amazing professionals. The four huge oak trees were very close to the house and leaning towards the house, with large portions hanging over the roof. Esteban had to climb out of a 55 foot high-lift onto the trunk of two trees and go approximately 20 feet further up to place rigging for removal of the tops of the trees. This complex job was completed without any damage to the house. The crew was very conscientious about leaving the yard clean when done. It was cleaner than when they started!

The original date had to be postponed because of weather. However, the second date was this afternoon. They came this afternoon. They immediately set to work. The trimmed the extra branches from the trees, They chipped up the branches and cleaned up all of the debris. They worked constantly and efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone.

The team of 3 arrived and quickly went to work. They dropped the main tree almost straight down using the bucket and pulleys. Causing no damage to the yard surrounding the tree. The trunks were cut into large sections and picked up the next day for reuse as lumber or something. I liked that they didn't waste the wood. The rest of the small trees and debris were ground into chips that they dumped in my yard for me to use as mulch, at my request. The massive remote control stump grinder made short work of the big stump left behind. Overall I was very pleased with the work they did, and the quality of the equipment and workers. The price was reasonable, and will likely us them again should the need arise.

Unfortunately, this seems to be fairly common for these types of businesses. Play a little phone tag with no results and no work getting done. Would not use Lancaster.

They met with one of my employees and then sent me a quote. They did a phenomenal job on the tree and clean up.

I emailed Lancaster to request an estimate for removing two trees, trimming several other trees, and trimming several bushes and shrubs. Sarah came to my house within a few days of my email. She emailed me a detailed estimate for the work. They completed the work within a week or so after that. I had another firm out to give me an estimate. The other firm's cost estimate was higher and they were going to do less work. Lancaster not only removed and trimmed everything beautifully, they were able to grind down two large tree stumps. I wouldn't consider ever using another firm.

I signed a contract with this company on April 6, 2015, to cut up some trees that had fallen and haul the wood away. After weeks and weeks, they called and said they would come on Saturday, May 30. They have not shown up and do not answer their phone. I will never use this company again.

Perfect job done and left the yard clean, perhaps better than when they arrived.

This review would of been totally different if our phone calls had been returned. After 11 days this review was wrote. We had no idea they were going to do the work till they called and said we are coming out today. I had already submitted this review by then. After she saw the review Sarah Gomez called and left a message letting us know that she was mad about the review I submitted. We were already looking for another landscaper as we thought since our calls weren't being returned that they weren't going to do the job. The job they did was not very good. They left a mess in the yard which me and my wife cleaned up. The stumps they ground were half way done. I worked for several hours digging up small roots out of the beds before we could go in and start our replanting. I have one root 2 foot long I had to dig out of the front yard. It was explained to her that we were planting flowers back where we had all the bushes removed and we needed them ground up fine. I have had several stumps dug up thru the years and when they were done it was all well ground and could be used for mulch. I got a garbage bag full of stumps we dug up. For the kind of work that they did the price was outrageous. I didn't get all my tree work done as they missed one of the limbs I wanted removed. It was leaning toward the house and we were afraid some day that it may hit the house. After the phone call she left on my phone I would not recommend these people to anyone. Sarah can blame me all she wants. All it took was 2 minutes to pick up the phone and say we have your job and we will call you when we can work you in. Instead of just calling and saying we'll be out in an hour. Not a good experience with these people.

After an ice/wind storm, we lost a cedar tree in our yard. After researching reviews on Angie's List, I chose Lancaster Tree Service. Due to the large volume of damage in the area, we were placed on a waiting list; however, their responsiveness was extraordinarily prompt nonetheless. Tree removal and clean up was excellent.

Gave a fair estimate. Came at designated time. Everything was neat and clean when they were finished. Did a very professional job.

workers removed a portion of a tree that had broken in a storm, about the size of a normal tree. If it had continued to fall, it would have crushed my fence. They used a bobcat to hold the tree in place while they removed it from the tree and then carried it out of my year being careful to avoid the pool. the bobcat tracked up the yard a bit, but couldn't be helped when carrying such a large piece of wood. They cleaned up all the debris and did a good job.

Sarah Gomez came to review the scope of the job. The requirement was much smaller than what they normally would do for the minimum charge but she agreed to do it for a nominal charge if we agreed that they could stop by when one of their trucks was in the area. This was very agreeable to me and on 9-30-2014 a service truck and ladder truck stopped by, completed the job in about 10-15 minutes and was on their way. Work was done perfectly. I plan to have them come back later in the spring to prune that tree.

One of the reasons I went with Lancasters was because they had an arborist involved with their tree trimming. This individual was knowledgeable, and worked very carefully to achieve the desired results. I watched his work and really appreciated his attention to detail, his attention to safety for both him and his crew, and his respectful manner as he checked in with me throughout the job to be sure we were in agreement in how things should proceed. They also were very good about being careful not to drop limbs onto my wildflower garden which was located beneath the tree. I also appreciated the way they cleaned up after themselves and left the yard looking great. I also recognized that this company was very busy so I was patient about waiting for an appointment and they worked with me to be sure that I was satisfied.
