He came out and spent time, discussed the job with me and gave good ideas on what would work best. I arranged for him to do the work even though his price was not the lowest. He failed to show up or call for the appointment to set the first post and do the measurements, and did not return calls for several days. He apologized, we made another appointment, and he neither showed up or called. My husband had rearranged his schedule to be home for both appointments. Will be using someone else.
Description of Work: I needed a small railing fabricated and installed on my porch steps.

Description of Work: Tony was our cheapest estimate, but he also came highly recommended from a contractor. We had another quote first, and when I told the guy what I wanted to do, he just said it would cost more money. When Tony came out and I told him the same thing, he explained why he thought it wasn't the right look for my house. He showed me pictures to help me see what he was talking about and helped direct me toward a simpler design that would suit my house better. He was very respectful and great with my very curious kids (who called him Iron Man), and when we had a delay on our end that kept him from being able to take measurements, he still got the railing done ahead of time. The only thing I wish he had done was paint all the screws black to match. They were left silver and blue on the black railing. If I had insisted, I'm sure he would have taken care of it, but it really was no big deal to do it myself - I just wish he had done it because those finishing details are the ones you remember and it would have been a much better ending impression. Not a big deal, but I want his company to do well because he is truly stellar at his art.

Knox Iron Works came to our house and helped us pick a driveway dual-gate design from his extensive portfolio and provided us a reasonable estimate for it's installation. Installation of the gate support beams proved to be considerably more difficult than envisioned due to subsurface rock but he got them in and supported them with extensive cement and rebar footings. The gate was built exactly as promised and looks wonderful. After a year the gate is still perfectly plumb. I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Installed a customized driveway gate.

Came out measured & showed us various designs. Came back a week later to install the 2 railings. Workmanship was fantastic. I gave him a B on price. His was the only person we called. Others might have been less expensive. I don't know. The railings are very strong and attractive. The only negative. He used bright bolts to fasten the railings to the brick & sidewalk. Stood out like a sore thumb. He told me some clients like the look. Did I mention sore thumb? He suggested I go out & buy black paint to paint over the bolts. This is a job he should have done himself. This was a fairly easy job for me - YET... I would definitely recommend him. QUALITY WORK!
Description of Work: Created & installed railings for my front steps.

I am very very disappointed with this business owner. If we didn't have children, I'd just be perturbed at wasting my time but it's more than that for us because it's a complete lack of regard for the real and time sensitive safety concern we have for our children. Tony knew before he even came to our home to look at our project that we were in need of a safety fence atop our hardscaped wall as soon as possible. He should have never agreed to take on our project if it was not his true intention to do the work. I'm still shocked at his complete lack of sensitivity to this matter and lack of professionalism. My project could and should have been completed over a month ago and at this point, I'm waiting on another company to do the work.
Description of Work: Tony, the owner came to my own as scheduled and looked at the project, showed me his portfolio of pictures of past projects, and promised an estimate in the near future. He was pleasant and had a wonderful portfolio. He gave me a quote the next day of what the project would cost and his price was very similar to the other proposals I had received. After a few phone calls of questions and answers back and forth we agreed he would install our fence. I explained to Tony at the forefront that we needed the fence atop our tall hardscaped wall installed asap because the weather was warmer and my children would be soon spending a lot of time outside playing. We had two tiered hardscaped walls installed recently in our backyard that surround our paver patio area and the top wall sits about 9 feet above the pavers. As such our back yard is currently not a very safe space for our 5 and 6 year old to run around and play in. Tony said he fully understood and thought with such a small project he could most likely get it completed in 2-3 weeks. After speaking with him again about it a day or two later, I sensed the way he was speaking about all of the work he had to do that he might have been under-estimating the time it would take to get it done. So I asked for clarification and said, "so that I'm certain we're on the same page and so that I'm not disappointed or surprised, what will the maximum amount of time be before our fence is installed?" Tony's response was "4 weeks". At that point, I agreed that we would still have him perform the work even though I would have been deeply disappointed if it took that long. The last thing he told me during that conversation is: "I'll call you in a day or two to set up a time to come out and take measurements". Well, a week went by and no phone call from Tony; and then another week went by and then another and still no call; At this point I had some serious doubts about my decision to use Tony for the project, but I had waited so long and knew that starting this whole process over with another service would take even longer. So, I called him and no answer, so I left a voice mail message. I didn't receive a call back for two days and I missed the call so Tony left a message and said that he was still planning to come out and get the measurements soon. So I called him back in the morning and tried again in the evening and no call back. I left additional messages and but never heard back from Tony (the owner) again.

Tony was great. He promptly came out and gave us and estimate and custom design for the work we needed done. He and his son did excellent work for a good price and we are looking forward to using him again as soon as we finish our backyard remodel for the rest of the fencing. Tony runs his business on word-of-mouth, and after using him I can see why he really doesn't need to advertise. I highly recommend him (especially for custom iron work).

Description of Work: I called them needing some replacement tops for my wrought iron fence. He's going to drop a bag of 15 tops at my house. He's only charging me $20 for the 15. He did not install the original fence (don't know who did). I WILL USE him if my fence ever needs repairs.

I had been by Tony's booth for 2-3 years at a home show as I was tired of having our mailbox repeatedly bent by vandals. I explained what I wanted and asked if he could make some kind of "cage" for the mailbox to prevent future damage. He did an excellent job and I was thrilled! This fall a big tree-trimming vehicle came by and they were cautioned to be careful around the mailboxes. The truck had a large metal platform on the front and they repeatedly pulled forward and backward hitting the mailbox over and over. I had witnesses and pictures to prove this so they had to buy us another one. Needless to say, I called Tony at Knoxville Iron Works and he promptly made another even better! I highly recommend him.
