At first my conversations with this company's representative " Wilson" was pretty good. We did all the arrangements via telephone due to me not being in the Knoxville area at that time.We are retired and visit our children and grand children alot while we can. Wilson or office contacted my insurance company once I faxed them a copy of my claim#. We discussed my cost and the total cost for these repairs to be done. My last conversation with Wilson was early to mid September in this conversation he quoted me $5000.00 for the job plus I would need to pay $500.00 he said that would cover all the insurance stated repairs. This would be due upon completion of all work. In our last conversation I requested a copy of this contract or job to be emailed to me(never received) So I told Wilson I would be at the house 9/23/2012 he said they should have the roof the week before so it should be almost finished and they would start the siding and other work the week I was there so I could see it being done(didn't happen). So I told him to get this scheduled and to get me my contract emailed so I had it with me upon arrival. (never happened) Here's how it went: I arrived 9/23/2012 no work had be started I had no contract from Wilson I called his office on that Monday spoke with Jessica in the office she said they should get the work started by the next day, I told her I had made all these arrangements with Wilson(due to my travel dates) and he had said the roof would be done by now she said it was due to bad weather so I wasn't there I didn't know what the weather had been doing so I let this go and the roofers arrived and where finished by 9/26/2012....This is the day Jessica called me and quoted I pay her for the roof portion $3644.61 , I said no that is not what Wilson had told me Wilson said my total costt would be $5000.00 + $500.00 additional to the insurance payment (Total of $5500.00 cost) and he would get the other payment from my insurance company once he faxed them a completion statement then they would release the depreciation payment of $3701.24. Wilson said he would wait for this insurance check to arrive ...So I was quoted $5500.00 total cost, less $4144.61 payment leaves $1355.39 due upon completion . My final check from the Insurance company was for $3701.24 which should leave $2345.85 overage according to my math. Now even if my math is incorrect or if I was mistaken( which would not have a issue IF Wilson had provided me my contract) but this allowed him to keep changing prices and work to be performed, which in hind sight is exactly what allows Wilson to bait and switch customers requested work. Well this just gets more and more involved, I received a call from Jessica in October said they were finished and that I needed to call my insurance company to get this final payment issued come to find out my insurance company had already mailed this check to me on 9/5/2012 unbeknown to me it had returned to them since my home mailbox had been knocked down and no mail was left and this check was returned to my insurance company. I called my insurance company they found the returned check in the amount of $3701.24 and remailed it to me at my daughters house in florida where we were visiting. Jessica said once I receive this check to let her know and she would email me a FED X label to mail to her after I had endorsed it for them to cash. So I did all of this in about a week. I didn't want to delay their final payment . I waited for few days and then emailed Jessica asking if she was mailing me the difference of the job cost ($5500.00) and the payments ($7845.85) overage of $2345.85 she said didn't think they owed me anything but she would talk to Wilson. Well I received a blazing email from Wilson stated I was not owed anything and that my job had cost him over $7000.00.. That was the last contact from Wilson he has had Jessica answering all my email questions etc this is such poor customer service I just can't believe that Wilson has acted in such a unprofessional manner. So to make this story end to date I have no refund I have no contract only just received a letterhead invoice showing his cost of 7595.85 payment of 3644.61, my deductable $250.00 and the final $3701.24 ( doesn't even list my $500.00 that I paid this is some funny fuzzy math)which all equal my insurance claim but not all that was paid which was $7845.85. BIG RIP OFF and now Wilson will not response to me at all regarding my still leaking roof. The last email I received from Jessica was they repaired visible items and the only thing that would fix this would cost me $4800.00 for a new roof!!!!!CAN YOU REALLY BELIEVE THIS ? I have never been treated so badly by a business!!

Response from Kear Contracting
Please see attached copy of contract signed by the member for the work she received. We completed all work the insurance paid her for the amount the insurance allowed. We put sealant on the flat roof at NO CHARGE as a favor. The member was informed she needed a NEW flat roof. I have also attached the invoices where we paid our employees for the work that was performed for the member.

Wilson met with me and explained everything they would do. He worked with my insurance company and scheduled all the work. He was very professional and generous doing many little things that were over and above the contracted work. I have recommended Kear to my friends and family.
Description of Work: Kear was the general contractor for hail storm repairs to my home. It involved: a new roof, new gutters and downspouts, and painting. Their work was top-notch. Wilson Ellis was a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased.
